I have a feeling some of T-akiba’s data may be wrong, I know some of the frame data he did, didn’t match up with some results I had gotten.

On the one hand, yeah, Hawk lost the ability to reliably get in Honda’s face. That’s always been an odd position, since ground ticking Honda is more awkward than any other character in the game; for example, it’s the only match-up where a point-blank medium tick (punch or kick, crouching or standing) will cause your command throw to whiff (by literally the smallest unit of movement the game allows). If you were really good at the OS loop, you could do some damage, but then again Honda’s got layers upon layers of OS tech of his own to catch you with.
On the other hand, HDR Hawk’s dive gives him the ability to get chip damage in a lot more reliably when you turtle out a life lead. It’s also a bit more realistic for Hawk to crouching jab Honda’s hand slaps back now. Of course, there’s still the stored Ochio to contend with, but it’s also been toned down a bit (though not enough, oh well). It’s still a terribly uphill battle, but worse?

The safe Hawk dive changes things. Hawk is in a really good position off a blocked dive (walk up SPD or HK throw, SRK, neutral jump FP, etc) vs ST where he just gets headbutted on block.

Dont forget easier HHS. It definitely is easier to apply more pressure with them and while still in crouch back mode can still get sumo splash off against characters with out a decent reversal. Also look at how Thelo used them against the shotos of late. good stuff.
Very surprised you said super (jab headbutt didn’t really move him from the middle in ST). Unless you are realllly lucky/have a great sense of guessing when fireballs are thrown, I don’t see Honda super being a factor in nearly all matches. Tends to get you killed more often than not due to it being not safe on block. You also rarely will see the full 3-hit effect unless someone is dumb and jumps into you charged.
I didn’t used to think that the super was that big a deal as well. but thelo can use it on reaction with deadly accuracy.

I saw Kusumondo combo cr.Short x2 xx super a number of times during the casuals after Thunder Beast Cup 2. IIRC, it hit 4 times and did some grotesque damage. Edit: I got no fucking idea how they can ever make that shit hit four times. I tried…

Ok ok, so Honda has the ability to get 2 supers in 1 round sometimes. Still, your chances of landing that super are verrry slim when playing at a high level.
I win most of my fights vs good players without ever using it. Hell I don’t even get to build it up I win so fast. GOD LIKE :razzy: Doesn’t even make sense
