So nothing has really been happening here lately, why not revive this? I don’t believe I have ever seen a list that was mostly agreed upon. If there is, I’d like to see it.:china:
There’s no accurate HDR tiers because everyone when making the tiers just used ST’s list. Everyone here is too lazy to make one so the best bet is just to go off of what you personally think, or look at super nohoho fighter ii x: Super Turbo - New Arcadia Diagram. The list is pretty on spot IMO. There is only a few iffy rankings.
Kacom - you’re saying that Honda is in the same place for HDR as ST? Gotta disagree with you there…

I’m with Geo on this one. And I think now that Thelo has put some mad time into leveling his Honda I really would agree. Yes projectile characters still may pose a little work for the fat man but no where as bad as ST. I would like to see how Thelo plays against Damdai’s Ken or DGV’s Ryu now. I still think Ryu is the best in the game hands down.
Dhalsim, Boxer and Claw say no.
Ryu got a fake fireball…this doesn’t affect his bad matches. Dhalsim is still very hard for Ryu, as is claw. Ryu is far from best in this game.
Ryu is FAR from the best in the game? I’d like to hear how he’s, if not top tier, then at least very high middle tier.
cuz he sucks. claw is the best in the game. sim is good but he lost a little something. I can’t put my finger on it cause I don’t play sim, but playing against him in ST and in HDR is different somehow. maybe the other players got buffed so much that he got left behind. but yeah, claw is still a fucking dickhead in both games.
Honda is worse in HDR
Edit: Honda’s new floating fierce and super are his only good points.
We were discussing this at Naptown, and the top tier was agreed upon pretty unanimously.

Ryu is there purely based off of tournament results. I’ll wait and see other people’s list before I post mine and start up a shit storm.

Ryu got a fake fireball…some how this shoots him to the top? It doesn’t really help him vs Sim and Claw, his two really bad matches. I think Fei is a lot better vs Ryu now as well, probably has an advantage vs ryu now. Ryu probably low high, upper mid tier. I just don’t understand why so many people think because he got a fake fireball he has shot all the to the top, when everyone else got significant changes.

Ryu wins the most tournaments (at least for the data I’ve seen - if you have competing data please present it). This factors into the equation.
He does have a couple of bad matchups, but only one or two characters could be argued to have no bad matchups.
It’s also the case that Boxer, Sim, and Claw all got nerfed in HDR where as Ryu clearly received a buff.
Fake fireball is better than you think man. In ST if I saw Ryu doing the fireball motion and from a certain distance I could punish Ryu with no worries. Now I have to wait and hesitate because Ryu can do that move and follow it up with a dragon punch or fireball or hurricane kick, etc. It does make Sim a little more hesistant to say the least. And two bad matches for Ryu compared to lets see, ChunLi, Blanka, Cammy, Vega for Sim. And Zangief is no where as easy as it was in ST for Sim. I would even say it is even. And who can forget about Honda. Taking away some of Sim’s cheese and buffing Honda makes for another not so favorable matchup. I could go on but Sim is not quite as good as he was in ST.
I would agree though that Balrog, Vega, Ryu have very favorable matchups followed by Honda, Bison and probably a few others. Jjust my two cents.

Top Tier- Sim, Rog, Vega
High Tier- Ryu, Bison, DJ, Sagat
Mid Tier- Chun, Guile, Ken, Honda, Fei, Gief
Low Tier- Blanka, Cammy, Hawk
I think my list is decent. The order within the tiers is debateable, but I personally think Sim is the nest and Hawk is the worst. Hooligan is too bs and I think Hawk is the most limited character option wise. I can’t think of anyone he beats aside from Chun. Sim is the best in ST imo and he barely got nerfed.

Help me understand this then. IMO, Dictator only has an advantage over Claw, Hawk, and Cammy, and I could be convinced to include Fei and Sagat in there too. So how is he in the top twentieth percentile or thereabouts? And don’t say TOD or invulnerable frames added to DR :-\ Dictator being on the same tier as Ryu, or higher than Chun, Honda, and HDR Gief just doesn’t feel right to me at all.
You’re doing it wrong, Dictator has always been a strong contender, even in his really bad matches (like Honda). He now has an escape from inescapable shit that he could normally only get out of if he had a super, which was his biggest problem and why he had bad matches. You cant fireball trap dictator, you can’t jump on him for free anymore, and you can’t tick throw him to death anymore. All dictator needs is one hit and he can end a match, he’s got a lot of potential and quite frankly I’m amazed no one fucken uses him at tournaments very well. Dictator is very close to top tier.
I think it is just because you can’t really counterpick Bison. He doesn’t do bad vs. anybody and that really says a lot in this game. Just based on matchups that already puts him in the top third. Doing well vs. Vega is also pretty nice. HDR Gief and Honda both have more than a few bad matchups. Chun is kindaa like Bison matchup wise, but just not as good overall imo.
DR lets him escape more often than in ST and that is really powerful because it gives you one more chance to turn the match around (which is realistically possible with TOD combos). His fake slide isn’t really ground breaking, but it is another trick in his bag of tricks. Fake slide to throw or super will probably catch someone at least once. His neutral jump mp juggle lets him do more damage every time he catches you with his bs jump mp. AA jab is gravy. Previous top tier got nerfed and throw loops got toned down. How is he not high tier?
No way in hell is Sim top. Everything on that list is debatable except for that. He’s high tier.
I’d say sim is still top, he didn’t really change much except you can hit him during Yoga fire and his super easier. He still zones the hell out of everyone and still has his bad matches.
