Fatal K.O
Thread over
Keyboard = poor man’s arcade stick. I use a keyboard in SF3 because I’m not yet willing to spend $60 on a stick, and refuse to use a gamepad (feels too sloppy to me). I’ll probably get a stick later, but at least the transition from keyboard to stick is easier than gamepad to stick.
Ohshi-I have yet to see that. That must be SO pro.
direction input using your fingers vs directional inputs using your wrist~
keyboard provides better directional control than a stick unless sensitivity is a factor i.e. how far you move the stick in a direction.
It’s based on preference, no matter what you think, someone is going to prefer different things than you. It’s like some people prefer American style button layout to Japanese and vice versa. It’s all based on what the player is comfortable with.
Hahaha I missed that the first time through.
Truly amazing.
Natal coming on next year it will be interesting to see what developers can do with fighting games.

Fingers crossed Konami release a new Fist of the North Star (Fighting Mayhem) game. :p:
I play keyboard all the time with 3S , is that a bad thing ?
( Sorry if you can barely see the keyboard… )
^ I barely play SFIIITS much now since SFIV so idk if I lost my touch of how I played 3S with a KB . ^
Not at all, they’re just embarrassed that they could lose to someone using an *inferior *peripheral.
Nice parry :nunchuck:
Ace, Noc and Furious - thanks for giving the thread some redeeming quality with the vids.
Though the notion of “cheating” keyboard players from VR is great for laughs.
Being stupid about what “son”?
So what If i was wrong about how many switches this or that has? My japanese sticks make clicks in 8 directions and I have never had the need to open them up to know how many actually are in there so I made a comment which was inaccurate. I have no problems admitting I’m wrong if I am. The switches inside of kb/sticks/pads is not my argument.
My argument was about input shortcuts using piano ‘technique’ on a keyboard which clearly provides advantages over stick/pad users. So what If i was wrong about how many switches this or that has? Again, that’s not my argument
I guarantee you if scientific studies/tests were done, it would be proven beyond a doubt that keyboard users for fighting games use less energy/effort/time than stick/pad users.
Apparently simple logic is too advanced of a scientific thought for some of you kids to grasp.
Maybe cheating is too strong of a word, but to me its an unfair advantage.
PS: and I could care less about neg rep. Through out the history of mankind, truth tellers have always been hated, insulted, persecuted etc, plus my own experience has taught if something is causing a harsh reaction from masses, then apparently there is something to it.
This is absolutely true. The only people who have been hated, insulted, persecuted, etc more than truth tellers, are people who are so wrong and in denial about this fact that it doesn’t even seem humanly possible.
Hmm I tend to agree for the most part. As far as fireball motions go, i do think KB is faster then sticks.
If I had to rank top 5 slowest to fastest method of inputing fireball motions it would be:
- American Stick
- Japanese Stick
- Ps2 Pad
- Keyboard
- PSX Pad
I guess it also depends on the person as well. Taking practice and preference into consideration. but on average ya id agree KB is faster then stick.
Each method has their pros and cons. each may pose an advantage, but not an unfair one. Seeing as if anyone did think a certian method was too good, they are free to switch to that method.
natel Will be interesting. I think it will be DECADES before something like natel matches the speed and acuracy of a stick for fighting games. it will be interesting when it does. For now natel will not be bothered with because it will suck for fighting games…but at a time when sometihng like Natel is actually fast enough to compete with a traditional stick…oh man that will be an interesting day. Maybe someday the top 8 at evo will all be buff / in shape dudes who get hated on for using Natel instead of a stick.
There will come a time when we will all be able to play Street Fighter via text messaging.
I played Dynasty Warriors on a DDR mat.
I played Smash on a DDR mat.
But neither are SF. I’d have to use hands for combos then…
Games like Street Fighter I do not see working, I was talking more about fighters like Fight Night.
EVO 2k15: Enter the Ninja
Holy shit Violent Ryo you keep saying the same fucking things when the answer to everything you’ve put forward is “No”
You have to go through df, holding both down and forward pressed, to do a fireball on a keyboard. You have to go through df, moving the stick between down and forward to do a fireball on a stick. You have to move your thumb from down to forward, going to down-forward, to do a fireball on a pad. Almost all the sticks used in fighting games have 4 switches, almost all pads have 4 cardinal inputs. Just let it go.
Or you could tell us how you’ve been doing this shit for 100 years and repeat your post in caps and bold, whatever.
Hey maybe you’re just a dumbass, have you tried following that path of logic? You seem to be big on logic.

No shit. But on KB df’s/db’s are inputted “automatically” if you simply tap down and forward/back fast enough, thus eliminating the added effort and time required on sticks/pads to separately input the down-forward/down-back, you fuckers just don’t get it.
And those that are shooting back should just shut the fuck up if you haven’t spent years on a keyboard playing fighting games, and most of you haven’t so shut the fuck up. Its impossible to know the difference if you have not the hands on experience.
Wow, you are so clever.
Again, no shit. What kind of a logical thinking person does not entertain the fact that everything they know might be false. But this time is not the case.
Fuck this thread.
this is the same thing that happens on sticks and pads. sticks have 4 microswitches, and pads have 4 contacts. diagonals are created by pressing 2 cardinal directions at once, the same way that they are created on a keyboard
that in itself is not inherently an advantage, despite what most fighting game players think. pro fps players use low sensitivity for a reason
