So let's talk about why capcom's empire of fighters crumbled

Explain your reasoning. Until then, you’re not worthy of a relevant response response.

Which is pretty sad. Very sad. Ah well, doing things differently is a trail and error process, and I’m confident SNK will eventually be ok.

If you weren’t such a fucking scrub, you’d understand why he called you a scrub. I can’t believe I took the time to reply to your posts.

Good catch Aneurysm, wow.

At least SNK still releases KOF although some of it has little tweaks like the costume change and gameplay system. Its hard to admit that I get easily pissed when playing KOF because I never got familiar with its fighting engine.

thank god for snk still releasing 2D fighters. capcom can suck it.

Yep, becuase its is the only genre(with the shooters) that is cashing in for SNK.

OMFG SA SELECTIONZ1!11!!!

I guess that settles that then. moving on…

I know alot of people would be agianst it, be I wouldn’t mind SF getting put into 3-D. Yes, i’m serious.

^-- What, like Street Fighter EX that came out years ago?

EDIT: Ten years ago, actually.

I’m sure he meant a good 3D version. Not trying to copy and paste 2D gameplay onto a 3D game

I.E. one that’s actually 3-D.

Well the release on xbox was nice, and much apriciated by alot of fans because it allows for online play…which for me gave me reason to get back into the game

You know I seem to remember when Pac-man was really popular, you remember that game? Why don’t they make more Pac-man. Pac-man was the best timeless, they should still be making 'em…wait? What? People aren’t interested like they used to be? They want different stuff?

Nonesense.

^ stop it

what are you talking about, the only bad kofs were 99-01. thats three games out of 12 games.
and yes as a snk fan im very happy because we get a constant stream of games coming out.

Capcom’s 2D fighters ain’t dead, just head on over to some kaillera servers and see how many Vs., SFA3, Vampire Savior, and SSF2T games are being played every day. Yeah, Capcom ain’t making anything from this, but the scene is far from dead.

Vampire Savior isn’t as good as Marvel? JoJo isn’t as good as CvS2? I beg to differ my friend. But nobody’s even given them a second chance, because they are too “out there” in comparison to the norm. I agree with you on the SF2 statement though.

I can see where you’re coming from, but there are reasons why most of their games never got any support. Because they either weren’t fun enough or acceptable on a highly competitive level.

In any case, it’s not our responsibility to eat whatever shit they spoonfeed us, but theirs to do something good with it.

Enter The Snk Rant

Actually 99-01 go to refute the statement of SNK just tweaking the same old system. SNK really tried their best to make the Striker system work, but ran out of funds. Personally I loved the new characters and play styles introduced during that period. K’ was the first character I ever played with that particular sort of specials and the play style.

Also very few of SNK’s games have ever played alike, Fatal Fury was different from Art of Fighting and as each series progressed they themselves did make changes such as losing the dodge feature. SNK went backrupt because they were being bled from the inside by Azure and on the outside by pirates, as well as popular as Capcom and needing the arcade market far more than was healthy.

In any case outside of a horrible misstep with SvC: Chaos and the annoyance of the broken Doulon in 2003, SNKP has made some great games.

that’s right and we can expect great games for the future

garou 2
last blade 3
waku waku 7-2
art of fighting 4
real bout fatal fury 3
world heroes 4
The king of fighters xii
battlecoliseum 2
svc 2
samurai showdown 7
double dragon 2
kabuki clash 2…well maybe for this one there’s no hope

There are obvious answers to this, but the thing is you arent going to find them on a forum that has an obvious bias towards 2d fighters, and if you pointed them out, people would get offended.

When 2d fighters were at their prime it was because at the time they were at the top of technology, and at the top of competitive opportunity. This is no longer the case.

2d graphics are incredibly dated and the vast majority of people simply dont care for them anymore outside of a handheld. Also a fair amount of income is no longer in title sales, but in engine sales. You cant sell a 2d engine and make massive amounts of cash, but you can with a 3d engine.

Put it this way. Would you rather invest 100 bucks and get 1000 back, or would you rather invest 100 bucks and get 200 back? Its simple, youd have to be an idiot not to make the wiser investment, and this is the situation now. Its not worth the money to retain and pay dev teams to produce 2d games which produce a poor profit return when you can hire a 3d team and make a killing. The exception to this is in hand helds.

Thats technology, on to competition.

When I first started playing street fighter every magazine had mentions of street fighter, and competitions. Now you look for gaming competitions and you hear about the scores of people making nearly 200,000 a year in FPS gaming, or the Korean RTS whiz kids. So now every media outlet, and every sponsor wants in on PC gaming and this doesnt have much to do with online gaming either LANs and cyber cafes are the new arcades where you can play another player lag free.

Now Im not saying there arent competitive fighter events, there are. But they dont match the money, media coverage, or all star player status of other games, its a shadow. You just simply arent bombarded with fighting game information they way you once were.

Yeah Commodore 64 games aren’t dead either, just go play on c64 emu and see
how many archon games are being played. Commodore ain’t dead either…

PS The unicorn is friggin broken.
