Month 2 lolhubs Japanese tier list.
Andā¦ go!
I really dont like how vague tier charts are becoming.
I preferred to see the charts where every matchup was listed, that way you can see how much you agree or disagree. With these new charts its just placement and no reasoning.
There are 44 characters. A full matchup chart has what, over 900 matchups? Ignoring how long that will take, the idea that any single person knows anywhere close to all of those matchups is crazy, most people donāt know how Hakan goes against Dee Jay, or Yang vs ELF, or Makoto vs Guy. Even if you play one of the two characters at a decent level, unless you have a local player and a couple of near interstate players you play every now and then who plays the other character at a decent level, you still might not have a good understanding of the matchup. So the only people who make matchup charts are those too stupid to know that their stupid (ie, eventhubs).
This goes double when the gameās been out for a month.
I mean, I donāt disagree, tier lists like this arenāt actually that useful, but we wonāt see useful matchup charts any time soon.
chun li still doesnāt have a good answer against dive kicks lol
thats probably why.
I think sheās underrated in this version. A lot of her bad-match ups received small character nerfs. She didnāt exactly get any buffs of her own, per sĆ©, although that 50 extra health means a lot for a character like Chun-Li, who only needs to escape back to neutral to make life very difficult for her opponent. I mean, think about itā¦ all her bad match-ups involve characters that get inside for free pressure. Dive-kick spammers, or a character like Seth used to be, with full screen jump-ins.
Iāve yet to see how red-focus will affect her game. It makes her target combo anti-focus jump-in a little more sketchy, but they would have to start it very late to catch you out like that, at the gamble of meter. It doesnāt really help her do monstrous damage, or even easy damage, for the value ex-meter has to her.
Her biggest difficulty? I think Rose shits all over her. Rose is Chun-Li, who just does everything Chun-Li does better and has a stupid Ultra. Poison might be a brick-wall too. Gotta learn to block high against that bitch, and she can punish your jumps too with that overhead throw. Chun-Li vs Boxer didnāt really change, so youāre still in for a corner-raping if any round goes badly.
All in all, if your defense is top-notch, I think you can do damage with Chun-Li.
Andā¦ then thereās Yun. Maybe that will put a downer on any Chun mainās hopes.
Rose is even imo. You just canāt do some things you normally couldā¦ but itās not as oppressive and limiting as, say, Yun or Viper or maybe even Rufus or Seth still.
Rose isnāt so badā¦ But dat backdash and some of her sweet buttons make her interesting to play against.
Matchup charts arenāt any harder than they were in previous versions of this game when they were more utilized. They are best guesses and are fixed by time as people get better at matchups and characters.
Maybe itās just the way Iām approaching Rose. I used to just go for the knock-down, against her, and because her reversals were so weak I could go to town and she would take a shit-load of damage before she managed to get herself out of it again, sortāve the same way you take apart a Gen player as Chun-Li; but ex-drill is pretty boss now. You canāt fuck with her when she has ex-meter. Besides that, have you noticed how her crouching.mp completely nullifies Chun-Liās footsy game? Iāve tried pressing every button and this damn normal of hers counter-hits everything; youāre relegated to trying to whiff punish her, which aināt easy, either, given the range and speed of her normals. Her fire-balls are much too slow to reliably hasan-shu over to get inside, so youāre stuck in this malaise of having to deal with her better normals at neutral (her air-normals beat a lot of Chunās anti-airs, too, because of their odd shape and hurtbox), as well as safe slides, superior meter building technology (she will just absorb your fireballs if you try and meter-fu her, and, alternatively, reflect some back if you decide to try and get tricky and follow them in.) and, on top of that, an ultra which, in most instances, guarantees at least putting you at threat of a chip-death. Damage wise, her and Chun-Li are pretty even, so thereās thatā¦ and she has the same health, at least. And, on the flip-side, Hosen-ka limits her options; if youāve got your dash ultra down to an art. (I used to have it 100% on the dual-shock 3, but since moving to a tourney edition stick, I find dashes complicated.)
Edit: I read, once, that cr.hk is pretty good against herā¦ Any thoughts on that? Itās not a button I press very often because I donāt like to die.
I actually think Viper isnāt that bad of a match-up. The thing you have to bear in mind is that Viper wants to put you in block stun, and she wants to catch you during start-up frames of your moves. I use a combination of jumping like an idiot and focus charging to absorb seismos (which doesnāt allow her to super-jump.cancel, so you get to move in on her) to make the game real messy. Also, sheās prone to flying-burning kick into focus crumples if you let her. I think sheās just like Makoto where, a few wrong guesses and you bite the dust. Too much damage, too much stun. (*Iād like to add the caveat that there arenāt many hardcore Viper players who play on PS3 EU; not many at all. Iāve played more against Viper on PC.)
Rufus though, I know what you mean. Ex-messiah. shudder As though waking up to four, floor height dive-kicks wasnāt bad enough.
I used to play against Wolfkroneās viper all of the time on PSN and sadly all I really learned about the Viper MU is to be afraid. Very afraid. I just donāt have the patience to play out her mixup game.
Personally I donāt think viper is too bad. Cr.mk all day. Iāve played and beat wolfkrone several times with chun. I personally know viper players that I consider better than him. It just comes down to what you know about her and how to deal with it w chun. The mu will always be bad but itās not something I would counter pick.
Not saying he is a god, but he certainly won more than I did and I didnāt take much from it lol.
i hate that mu
is kinda like blanka mu you just need to know a lot of stuff specially how her set ups works so you can actually block them
Sometimes for Viper I do just use Chun. But I also play Honda/Juri so hell yes I counterpick from time to time :smokin:
Feel like I started the āRose is OPā bandwagon early. My bad. Sheās difficult but itās still no guaranteed win with her. Youāve still gotta play the damn game.
Played some more Juri in Ultra and I think she struggles against Chun now, what with 50 more health. Hard to find a real Juri specialist, though. Double Ultra helps her close out rounds, at least. Who else is popular right now? I think, meta-wise, so many people have been dropping Boxer that Chun is looking stronger just for that. I rarely see M.Bison any more, either. Although Tampa Bison was top-8, rightā¦? top-16? My feeling is that there are few characters that flat-out beat her, but sheās still Chun-Li, so you gotta play goddamn perfect to make it count.
Think Iām under-estimating GamerBee. Adon has all the tools to make Chun-Liās life miserable too.
Gotta admit. I thought M.Bison would be making a come-back in Ultra. Did he not get a scissor buff, or did I imagine that?
I know 50 health doesnāt sound like a lot, but with the damage scaling as your health drops, it really does help. My win-rate since Ultra is wayyyy better.
Scissor kick does more damage now but LK Scissor is slightly less safe. It is now -1 on block, and I THINK MAYBE itās one of the -1 moves that Chunās MK Super can one-frame punish.
yes you can punish the new scissor i tested the first week of ultra lol
+1 to that.
That was the very first thing I tried MK super on since Bison players were crying about it so much
