Still playing it, but I really haven’t noticed the sound bug you and Nine detailed.
not in japan, that’s for sure.
by the way, some people are still playing it here(myself included).
I don’t understand it. Whenever I play Vampire Savior 2 I don’t get the original sound effects. Instead of getting “first attack,” “Miracle,” “yes,” or anything like that I get bells like when you select your game mode. Is anyone else out there using Swap Magic for this?
I thought it was on Vampire Hunter 2 Arrange, but I’ll have to check it out tonight. I hadn’t paid attention really. It’s very possible it’s that way on Vampire Savior 2 Arrange that the sounds are different.
I’ve written a FAQ for the secrets in the game
ShadowJin’s Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection FAQ
Please contribute to it!!! heh.
I’ll check on the sounds thing tonight and update the FAQ accordingly (as well as post an answer here.) I’m using a V4 ps2 with original Messiah chip to play the game…if that makes any difference.

just a few things:
-star 2-1 does make Bishamon’s ES Fireball unblockable at the right distance(did not try the other stuff) as Felineki translated it;
-and it’s only the last frame from Zabel’s jump lk(the 9th frame iirc) which is unblockable(people who don’t know that might end up thinking the whole jump lk is unblockable, while it is not).
I’ll try and do some more Googling and see if I come up with anything… that’s how I found the first set of star descriptions I posted.
EDIT: Here we go, found some more already. Unfortunately, I don’t actually have this game so I can’t verify them myself, but I’m sure it will make things easier on those who do have the game to verify each star’s effect if we have an idea of what each one does. Also, note that I have very little knowledge of Japanese and am mostly relying on online sources to translate these… If anyone who is more well-versed in Japanese can correct any of these, I’d be much obliged.
EDIT: Found a few more! source: http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:ATcsuYkrlvkJ:game10.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/gamefight/1117204190/+"ダークストーカーズコレクション"+option&hl=en&client=firefox-a

More to come later, hopefully…
EDIT 2: Interestingly enough, from what little I can comprehend of the source thread I posted, they appear to be discussing the announcer sounds… so the issue you brought up might be widespread, and not just an effect of the swap system you’re using, Midnight. Reading “Tech Hit! Kahahahahahaaaa!” in katakana really amuses me for some reason… >D
One last note: I’ve heard a few mentions of a secret difficulty mode, Nightmare. Not sure how to acquire it.
Seriously, I don’t understand how some of these people aren’t getting it. Unless they had a bad production run or something. It’s certainly not a complicated thing to reproduce.

Found another possible source of Star descriptions: http://www.geocities.jp/shu180sx/ Will translate shortly…
Thank you felineki for all your help. I really wish I could read japaneese.
EDIT 1: To get Nightmare Difficulty all you do is keep highlighting difficulty stars until it is maxed out then push over one more time. There you are…instant ass kicking.
damn, frame data on that one. many thanks.
I E-mailed Capcom about the sound issues. Hopefully they will produce an answer or point us in the right direction.
edit: spelling— damn dyslexia
Please let me know what they say (if anything).

How about we all e-mail them about an Xbox Live version of this game?
Still no answer. I’m going to try and e-mail Capcom of Japan and see if I can get some answers. Hopefully someone there will be able to reply in english.
first off, Felineki - WOW…FAQ updated and credit given!
second - my copy isn’t making the sounds like that…are both of you using the slide card? I wonder if the folks playing it on the boards are using a slide card…hmmmm
I know I got my copy in the second batch NCSX recieved (i preordered late…meh) and I don’t have that problem/occurance.
Hope this helps.
Back to updating the FAQ!

Glad to be of help. :bgrin: I think I might have gotten the numbers wrong for some of these, or put them under the wrong games, though. I’ll try to double-check all the sources and come up with a reorganized list soon (including the ones that I hadn’t gotten around to translating yet) for you to use when you do your next update.
hehe…yeah. Note why it says in the faq under some of the numbers (Normal and Arrange) - course, i don’t put it past Capcom to make things confusing as hell.
The FAQ is updated on my site and I’m waiting for GameFAQs to get around to posting it.

I’m using a fliptop with swap magic 3.3.

I’m using Swap Magic 3.6 and the magic switch for slim PS2.
I’m looking forward to that list Felineki. I can’t express to you how much I appreciate all of your work.
I’m itchin to update the faq more!
I’d test more stuff myself, but my uncle passed away this week and stuff is sorta up in the air right now.
I’ll do my best to get Felineki’s finds up on the faq. If anyone finds any descrepencies, let me know!

edit- I just noticed that Capcom updated their webpage with some secret factor info…someone who can read japanese get over there and translate! Seems like they’ll be giving us more every week…STOP BEING SO STINGY!!! heh.
