My tournament play has come a long way. This is my first playing SF. I gauge how well I do on my play more than my wins. This being because I choked so hard my 1st tournament. So my goal aside from winning is to play tournaments as well as I play casuals.
I got top 3 in a few different TvC tournaments.
3rd place in Soul Calibur 4 at MWC.
2nd place in Puzzle Fighter at MWC.
I probably entered more than 20 tourneys for different games and only went 0-2 in BlazBlue.
Hmm… I guess that’s all.
Very bad. Didn’t even break Top 10 Heres to hoping for a new year
I’ve played in my first two tournaments ever this year, for ST. They were in Holland, but we still got some excellent players here who have been doing quite well abroad.
First time was a two man team tourny, me playing O.Hawk, my teammate played Rog. We got first, but I felt like I pretty much got bailed out by my teammate, as I lost a lot of matches and he had to finish the other team off. Though I only had one shot every time we went up against another team, so there was little opportunity for me to change my gameplan or whatever.
Second time I was flying solo. O.Hawk again, no character change allowed. I got third, after getting spanked by Fulaani’s supreme Blanka skills. I did manage to just barely beat R-Jive, so I think I did pretty damn good. (Even though we were both playing like shit that day. (His words))
There should be a new tourny coming up soon, we’ll see how it goes.
Oh, at the same there were 3s tournies which I entered for fun, without practicing, or knowing anything about the game. Needless to say, it didn’t go well. (Last time I got hit by a 34 hit, 5 minute long Oro combo…)
um i dont really travel that far for tournies and this is my first year playing serious in tournaments, but for the tournies i have played in that i remember. (first time i really learned / played in tournaments for a game was sf4 so this is all sf4 obviously)
Triumvir Street Fighter Tourney, i think i was outside of top 8? man that was so long ago. either tied for 9th or 13th.
AI Ranbat 1.? - 5th place (one of their first ranking battles)
Denjin Arcade Ranbat season 1 - top 8 every tourney
California Regionals 3v3 - tied for 7th
Denjin Arcade SBO Quals `09- tied for 7th
(Took a break until i played in the WCW tourney)
WCW - i went 2-2
Denjin PreRanbat 2v2 Mikado - 2nd
AI 2.3 or somethin, went like 2-2 or 2-3 or somethin.
Denjin ranbat 2.3 - 4th
Sorry for my lack of knowledge but what does “0-2”, “1-2” etc. mean?
It means you got eliminated twice without ever getting a win. Basically it is akin to just donating your money, since you never win any match in the tournament. Basically if you lose the first round, then you’ll be 0-1, but if you go to losers and get knocked out then you’ll be 0-2. You just got eliminated with a losing score. Not SO bad in smaller tournaments, but kind of demoralizing when it happens in larger ones.
thanks but the only reason i got any good at that game was because of people like you handing my butt to me online
Donated money to Battlefield Arcadia twice. Just wanted to get some feel for the local scene.
Okay, in that case I don’t think my achievements even count cuz my local scene is pretty small and tournaments usually only bring around 20 people.
So I guess the only one that counts is placing 2nd at the T6 nationals. It had “only” 60 people but I gave the best performance I ever had under pressure so overall I’m pleased.
i faired decently well overall this year so far
local tournaments-
tournament 1: 1st place
tournament 2: 3rd place
tournament 3: 1st place
tournament 4: 1st place
not so local
Rumble in the Tundras (2 & 3)
2: 4th
3: tied for 5th
major
Seasons Beatings 4: forget my record, but there were more wins than losses… 5-2 i believe.
so yea, not so bad
waits for justin wongs 10 page layout
Not really much to say about all the random 3s tournaments at cf.
I had some funny business elsewhere though ^___________________^
Lessee… only local tournies I went to this year was for SF4 and I… don’t think I ever not went two and out.
At Evo I made it half way out my pool in SF4, and got my T Hawk rocked fairly hard by Jason Cole on the big screen in HDR as one of my two and out. Good times, though. I want another go or twenty w/ him. Shit was crazy intense (for me).
I think you are right
only thing left is a trip to japan cuz ive never been there. Unless super4 is any good…im out lol
I won my 2 first SF4 tournaments and my HDR tournament, all in the first quarter of this year, but I only managed to get to quarters and semis in the next 2, all of them were with a field of around 32 players. I need to get back in shape.
I got fourth at a 2 on 2 Blazblue tournament in Ko-hatsu (but my partner was Mekasue who is pretty fucking godlike) and HeartNana’s team ended up winning that one.
Other than that I got 9th at a 3 on 3 SF4 tourney at a-cho when I teamed up with Azrael and Sabin. I OCV’d one team so I was happy lol but we got owned hardcore by RF.
The only other tournaments I entered were for VF5R, and those were for SBO qualifers. The best I did was get to the semis with my team (all the tournies were 3 on 3), but we also went 1 and out a ton of times too…
Yeah for the most part I got beat up on at TvC SBO quals. I did win a poster at a SnR2 tourney tho.
Webster’s achievements list (between 2008 - today):
-
I ran A LOT OF TOURNAMENTS!!! Between last year and this year. Got to visit the West Coast for the first time in my life. Pretty awesome IMO.
-
Played well in some tournaments. Others, not so much.
-
Broke only 2 controllers.
-
I’m not even gonna mention my forum/irc record.
-
But the best achievement of all is…
lol…I am back on srk. :badboy:
I got dead last in a team tourney at the wallcade
And I tied for 7th in my first singles tournament at game universe with a good amount of top MA players attending (36 man bracket i think). Stole a game off of nestor’s akuma but he owned me free with ryu.
I definitely learned a lot and I’m trying to get more practice around here so hopefully will only get better.
