What you want is people to leave each other the fuck alone until somehow they magically talk each other and both parties are ok with it. What actually happens is that humans are incredibly social creatures so we are going to talk to each other. For all I know that dude that told her she was beautiful grew some balls in that moment because he thought that and it may have been a great friendship. The least we can do as people is fucking try. There are a lot of assumptions to be made of the men who approached her. Saying its harassment implies that they had ill intentions. Some of them definitely didn’t have to be crass about it, but they are only vocalizing the shit you say about NY women in the lounge.
This is coming from somebody who gets it because my job is to get shit like this. Unfortunately we aren’t really seeing something abusive, we are just watching basic courting at an extreme fucking level because of the population density of NY.
