You aren’t the first person to think you’re smart by trying to play the GG community for idiots. It’s the same old tired story every time. Why should we waste our time trying to have a discussion with people trying to continually troll the community with no intention of adding anything worthwhile?
The problem with most of these threads that compare and contrast two different fighting games is usually there’s no one in the discussion that’s proficient at both games, to be able to break down the engines and gameplay, in an accurate, fair manner without giving out a biased opinion. So really, the best way to figure out the answer without playing is to take the most informative, non-bias opinions from respected players, and evaluate them so you can make a judgment for yourself.
And don’t read Brahn’s posts about GG in this thread. They’re terrible IMO.
Did you even read this entire thread? The word “trying” should be removed from your post if you had. There’s a reason that label is associated with said community, and it’s right in front of you.
Anyway, I thought you and I already covered this issue in an entirely different topic. I really don’t care if I insulted your favorite anime character, otaku stereotypes (nice avatar), or borderline-doujin video games. Also, I know you’d like to tell yourself “you’re just trying to flame” to make you feel better about how right I am, but if I was only serving to troll then I would’ve wrecked your little Rachel Loli thread long ago. Let it go. Stay away from the community if you feel that way. It’s not going to die anytime soon. Instead of trying to fight the label (because like you, you’ll label the community either way) a lot of us have chosen to embrace and often poke fun at ourselves because we understand the strereotypes. How much worse would we look if we continually fought how people percieve us? Who gives a fuck? It’s not going to change. So many people are close-minded anyway, what a waste of time would it be to convince these people to understand. We lose a few ignorant people.

No, they’re not exactly the same, but they both have the same MO: Take the basic concepts of SF2, and expand upon them in terms of what you can do offensively and defensively.

Sadly, there’s no way to tell ahead of time if a game’s assortment of characters and systems will strike your fancy. SF2 is King in my books, and I didn’t like GG or GGX, which I thought mostly threw shit at the wall to see what sticked and I disliked the characters. However, I loved GGXX. GGXX was the first game in that series that I thought got their systems right and I finally warmed up to the weird characters. If you’re not sure about BB, try and play it somewhere beforehand (borrow/rent, if applicable). That’s the best approach IMO.
As for me and BB, despite its similarities to GG, I’m not interested in it right now. Besides barely having any time to play fighters (to get good at them anyway) and being rather broke, I don’t particularly like most of the characters (I like Tager and Hakumen though), though the systems seem interesting and reasonably well thought out. If one of my friends gets it and I play it and I like it, I’ll pick up a copy for myself, like what happened with GGXX.
