thats what this whole thread was for. It was to discuss a Plan B in case GAMME fell through. Dark Geese was in the middle of something, but then the thread got derailed by mudslinging w/o getting a clear, concise answer to any of the THREE main questions.
Yeah. The mudslingings really derailed this thread and the fact that Daigo has said he hasn’t gotten a ticket and has no plans on going to GAMME doesn’t bode well since if Daigo doesn’t have a ticket yet it’s doubtful that any of the other top Japanese players have gotten tickets either. Manny really needs to tell us what is going on otherwise we’re all going to just move on from this.
My contact for the most part to Daigo was Issei Suzuki, and I had no other emails from him telling me that Daigo could not make it. I have not purchased the flights, I said that already I was waiting to book them all together because we work with tour operators and its cheaper that way. Here are the last emails I got from Issei:

if he is not planning on coming, like Seth has stated, then that is a shame, but that was not why we started this event, it was a perk and the 5v5 was a suggestion given to me that I said in October we could do.
I will still be in MWC and after that I am going to reschedule this convention and move it into more of an anime genre.
I won’t post all the emails from the MLG side of this issue because it involved MLG and that is inappropriate to post because I do not want to cause anyone harm or put myself at risk.
I had said multiple times I wanted to see if after I posted why things were or happened the way they happened to see if a lot of the folks that backed out of the event wanted to return. I have a lot of people saying if you just say this they will come back.
I don’t do things that way, I am looking at what makes sense at this point.

So I am just going to spare you the wait and cancel the event. I have seen threads go with issues for months before someone posted, issues with people like Dancing Fighter G where they had events listed and the troubles and issues he went through and no one invaded his thread and made a post on the top of it and list it on someone elses thread. yet somehow it was justified to be done on our event. I spent almost $500 on plane tickets, and now it’s going down the drain. My tickets are non-refundable. All my money has been going towards the hotel and trip and because of that I have been on a strict budget the past couple months. I even canceled going to France for the Cannes World Cup tournament because I was excited about GAMME and all the promises that were made.
If GAMME has thousands of dollars that would have went towards prize money, I think it would be nice to use that money to pay people back to cancel the trip (have people show their itineraries as proof). Otherwise this is a huge slap in the face to everyone that was planning to go out and support GAMME.

You’re right, most events don’t pay staff. But Manny has promised to pay a lot of people who did work for him (not necessarily during his events) who’ve never seen a dime. That’s not cool.
And I never said “fuck him, I hope he dies.” I’m not that kind of person. I only questioned the legitimacy of the statement itself. Some people will give any excuse to get out of trouble, i.e. the MLG mess.
And so the issue comes to a close. Manny gets to back out under the pretense that support for his event crumbled due to people like me pissing in his punchbowl, and he gets to continue to hide the fact that he never had the money to pay the hotel. I look forward to a repeat of this mess in a few months when he tries again. I hope people aren’t fooled again by his sweet-talking.

Ive been trying to say this for a while. The only issue is if we get a bigger venue then we may need just a bit more money to get it started, but that money could be paid back via venue fee when the tourney goes down.

If someone could get me details on the Smash forum on where they plan on hosting something I will try to talk to them. Since SF4 came out last year I have been one of the biggest tournament hosts in Orlando. I was planning to help out at GAMME where I could but looks like I can’t do anything about it.
SO in the wake of such events if I can find a venue(Lots of Orlando/Tampa and Miami well known names want to help in a big way) I can try my best to put together some sort of at least a SUPER tournament for those with no other options but to come to Orlando on that weekend. Someone please PM smash info or a way I can get in contact with those guys if possible. Thank you.
I can’t offer all the things that Gamme was supposed to offer, but what I can offer is a smoothly run tournament itself and I know we all could help each other and prove why the community as a whole is one of the best in the world.
I actually got Lasik eye surgery just today and I should be asleep with my eyes closed, but even my passion for the game hasn’t stopped me from wanting to make something out of a negative situation.
