i’m so fucking excited for the season, it’s just arriving here in southern cali. :woot:
there is a huge snow sale, it’s like a swap meet with brand new shit it’s called snow jam. it’s this upcoming weekend i can’t wait to deck myself out with new gear i’ve been saving up forever.
wtf thats sooo dope. haha. i dunno if the snows started up here on the mountains just yet…imma check now. im poor as fuck im paying off my bill this month and then im buying all dope snowboard gear.
pac sun is madd cheap for some stuff…jackets n stuff they got madd sale going on right now.
I’ve had the same snowboard, boots and bindings for like over 10 years now lol. Never changed once, same with my sister since we got them at the same time. We’re like the only people in existence now that still have the CLIP ON bindings lol. Doesn’t matter to us really though. Definitely got our money’s worth out of it and we’re too lazy to get new stuff.
Damn, I probably won’t be able to get out till the end of November. My weekends are mega booked till then.
Night: How often do you board? That’s pretty crazy that you’ve had the same board for so long. Mine’s only 3 years old and it’s already showing wicked signs of wear. Mountain free riding does a number on the board though haha.
I go up there like 2-3 times each season. I don’t go enough to warrant a season pass, but we still make it each season. The board has the wear and tear, but I don’t care heh. Until it literally snaps in half or something, I won’t be replacing it anytime soon. It’s more of a loyalty thing now.
Snow Jam is pretty awesome. I went a few years ago, got a 200 point lift ticket to Mt High for free. Good excuse to go to SD also for some mexican food.
Fuuuck man, I love snowboarding but I hardly ever get to go anymore. School sucks up way too much of my time and money.
I wonder often about dropping out and being a ski bum; my little bro did it and every winter he tells me he’s livin’ the dream. He mountain bikes all summer too and works in a freeskiing and mountain biking shop. Coolest kid I know. He just left for a glacier trip with his friends yesterday.
Our local mountain was bought out a few years ago by much bigger company and the price of all passes and tickets has more than doubled since then. I know sooo many of the mountain’s almost-broke-all-the-time OG’s have quit because of it. Every single building has been reno’ed and redecorated like an amusement park, both of the old cafeterias are gone and now it’s like $15 for an instant hot chocolate and a plastic-wrapper bread stick. And fuck you if you want some fries, hahah. It’s definitely a ski “resort” now and there are usually as many tourists on the slopes now as locals at any given time.
Global warming is the truth because the snow definitely gets a little worse every year too. I keep telling myself when I’m done with university and I actually have a job my grandfather would respect and all I’ll go riding every single day I have off, but I wonder what winter will look like by then. I love halfpipe, and groomed or man-made snow is all fine and dandy, but the experience and elation of slashing out the very first tracks on deeeeep backside powder is absolutely fucking incomparable.
edit: everyone else in this thread is awesome and cool
Bachelor isn’t open yet, so I’m not snowboarding on the regular basis that I usually ride on. Every weekend I get on the 9:30 bus and leave around 3:30-4:00. I prefer snowboarding over fighting games.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. Powdercorp took over our mountain and season passes for my age were $400. It’s bullshit.
went my first time last year and loved it. Got my shit broke like 50x and my tailbone was hurting for a week. On my last trip up the lift i got a cramp and swore i was gonna fall off and die LOL. Oh and i went too far to the side off the trail where there was wayyy too much powder and couldnt get up cuz my arm kept sinkin in the snow. Fuckin snowboarding newb lol.
really tryna go this year again. I have this problem that i want to go REALLY fast, but im a beginner and just get broke as shit. Oh well, hopefully i’ll be better this season.
FUUuuuuck, only places I get to go are SUnrise(owned by INdians, and yeah, they are assholes) and SNowbowl.
I;m not to good, 2nd season, trying to get enought ballz to hit some jumps.
Abasin is opening up this Friday! I’m going, and tomorrow I’m shopping for new boots. I would go to Loveland but Abasin has the jibs and there isn’t enough snow to really do anything else. Anyone else going? Oh and what is everyone going to rock this season?
I’ll throw mine out:
2009 Never Summer SL 151cm
2008 Union Force bindings
2008 Nitro John Kooley model 151cm
2007 Burton Mission bindings
2008 DC Superpark boots(hoping the local shop has it, if not probably the DC Judge for this year)
Holden, Airblast, and Planet Earth gear
Ashbury, Dragon, Anon, and Oakley goggles
I’m tempted on getting another Battaleon Airobic board after I had to sell my last one for rent, love the triple base technology!
LOL I got alittle too into the post but I’m so excited for this weekend.
Amazingly after over a decade of doing it, still no injury, knock on wood. I don’t even deck myself out… I don’t wear a helmet and only wear regular everyday sunglasses, no goggles haha, and STILL use my original snowboard, boots and bindings back when CLIP ONS were what they were selling back in the late 90s heh. I love going to the mountain in vintage!
