Wait…so Unc, you want to have the tourney AT the chinese arcade with all the SNK cabinets? And then request a tech to watch over the event?
Or do you want to have the tourney at the eating/dining area with the TVs? (I guess we’d have it at the dining area only if we’re forced to use consoles like AES?)

Hah, if they’d let us steal their arcade cabinets then great. But I doubt they would. We basically need to try and get permission from someone to have the tourney in their arcade.
Is there an arcade in CalPoly? Ask them, can we use their arcade and get a tech. But if there aren’t any snk cabinets then that’s bust.
Check with the chinese people and see if we can hold a tournamnet there. (Impractical we’re just checking out options at the moment, we WANT to possibly attract people playing at Evo) If they are open to it, see if they’d charge us extra if we needed a tech to oversee. Also what they would need from us. If they’d let us MOVE their cabinets all the better…that’s not a hard thing to do.
If that doesn’t work we’ll need to find someplace in CalPoly that we can hook up AES systems in the lounge. Ideal but if peeps don’t bring their systems then it’s bust. (I don’t own any AES stuff)
If THAT’s bust, we’ll just have to scope out somehwere to hook up X boxes AWAY from Evo2k4 area because I don’t want any press that may be covering the event to see us using illegal roms. (The console ports won’t be out before then)
It’s all pretty logical.
We need location, whether it’s lounge, CalPolys arcade, or possibly the chinese arcade itself (I probably wouldn’t even consider the chinese arcade since noone would want to go away from Evo.)
We’ll need tech if things fuck up.
We’ll need to swap or put in Carts, this we already have.
We’l need to have it near evo to attract the most participants.
It has to be run on either cabinets, Aes systems…or X boxes, however if we X box it we can’t be in Evos lounge area. Bad for shoryukens business since it’s illegal and their legit.

Last year the Cal Poly arcade had a KOF 2001 machine, so they do have at least one SNK cabinet.
I’m game, for KoF 2k2 and 2k3, and I guess 98 but I haven;t played that in at least 7 years. Plus I have never played on console.
right now the best bet is Xboxes at the dinning area… dream bet would be those chinese cabinets in the dinning area… (man those japanarcade machines are sweet… they’re japan style… like this one)

The way I see it…
If you don’t want to have it at the Chinese arcade cuz we want more exposure…then the location should be the dining area. Meaning choices are down to X-boxes, NeoGeo AES systems, Dreamcasts and PS2s. So let’s break it down.
KOF 98: NeoGeo AES, Xbox (DC)
KOF 2002: NeoGeo AES, Xbox, Import Dreamcast, Import PS2
KOF 2003: NeoGeo AES, Xbox
SS2: NeoGeo AES, Xbox
SS5: NeoGeo AES, Xbox
SVC: NeoGeo AES, PS2, Xbox
MOTW: NeoGeo AES, Xbox (DC)
Now this means that we most likely will be Xboxing everything at the dining area…which is a horrible idea for an event that has garnered this much publicity and momentum for revolutionizing the SNK scene. And besides we should put vids online and stuff.
So in summary, we MUST hold this event at the chinese arcade. We should find some cool chinese guys to get permission from the arcade managers for us. We’re very lucky, if you think about it, to have such a great arcade with all those nice SNK cabs right next to Evo. Now the question is does the chinese arcade have KOF 2k2, 2k3, 98, SS2, SS5, SVC, and MOTW? Can someone go check please? Thanks.

Terry I understand your concerns BUT, we’re not holding competeing with Evo that’s suicide, a lot of the people I know that have signed up have a genuine interest in Evo. Whether watching or playing in tournies themselves. I think 95% of the people that would attend the Fierceslash tourney wouldn’t want to leave the scene in order to go offsite to play in it.
Honestly, however I’ll cross post on a number of sites and get everyones opinion. I need to update it all anyway, but honestly I think it would be shooting ourselves in the foot to remove the possibility of cross platformers playing but its a matter of leaving the Evo “scene” or playing I think most people will stay at the scene. Now if we had this tournament before evo officially started maybe that would make more sense if it was at that arcade.
But before we get ahead of ourselves who speaks chinese?
OK guys I think the tournament should be held at evo during evo thats a must. Please dont use japcabinets most of the peple hate them and will rather have a nice and beautyful 360. OK now what is really important to decide the DATE of the tournaments please. Most of us work and may have to ask for the day off, at least five of my friends and I will have to. It will be best if it was held on friday the first day of the tournament will be when most of the people will show up 2nd abd 3rd day alot of people will be disqualified and wont bother showing up. Come on guys lets get this done.

yes they do…i’ve said that already… they have all these games and more…
i agree… to move it from EVO would be a msitake… besides some ppl have to wait for their matches in evo…so maybe some couldn’t even come if it was offsite… the best bet right now is the dinning area with dreamcasts…i have garou for DC, kof 98 & kof2001…
UnCauzi still u should atleast have someone go to SUPERARCADE and ask the chinese manager if u can rent their machines…(i dun think it would be a problem seeing as how calpoly is so near the arcade…) its worth a try and its better than not trying at all…i can’t do it cuz i dun know chinese other wise i’d do it in a heartbeat!
Like I said I would try and rent the machines, but who speaks chinese? Not me, not to mention I live to far away to find someone that speaks chinese there. If someone gets me the phone number there I might have someone that can talk to them from here, but even then, I’d need someone to speak chinese to them when we go get the machines.
That’s if they said A okay…err hai, whatever.
I also forgot to mention the possibilities of MVS, Supergun, Supernova… Anyhow, lovelessemotion thx for the info…can you find out the phone number to the arcade? I’m in OC Cali but still pretty far away. I have a chinese roommate so I can ask him to ask about the rental thing over the phone.

OK guys again we need a DATE time is not an issue afternoon prefer, but we need a DATE focus please. I just bought a dreamcast today and I’ll happily take it. But a DATE please

Sup guys, I go to Super Arcade all the time. If you guys need my help, just let me know. I speak chinese, so that might help a bit. I know they have 2k3, 98,2002, svc, ss5, and garou for sure. The owner do have one american style and one candy cab lying around. I can ask him if we can rent the machine but I’m for certain that he wont be able to rent out the games because he might loose business. What good is a cabinet if we dont have games for it. On second thought, no body plays 98,2002, ss5 over there, so we might have the chance to rent those three games from him.
