Hey guys the first day sounds great. Now is it going to be played on systems or arcades. We should only need one system for 2k3,2k2,SVC, one modded Xbox should do the job. Ok have you guys thought about having a TEAMS tournament (depending on the numer of people who show up ofcourse)for 2k2,2k3,98, it would be a lot of fun. Well I’m taking my universal stick just in case is on systems.

Okay guys I’ll be contacting the arcade hopefully tomorrow. Now here’s a task for those near Calpoly if we DO get the arcade machines. We need some place to put them for the tourney. Mr Wizard specifically told me that Evo will not allow arcade cabinets on the upper floor. So basically we’d have to get permission to put the cabinets anywhere on calpoly from calpoly. The next question is are any of you familiar with Supergun? It sounded like a decent alternative where you can plug a board into it and play with arcade sticks on a tv.
May be a decent alternative, I’m going to check it out and see if it fits in the possible budget. Even if we got a few though we’d need the MvS board I think + games.
Here’s the real deal though, who would be willing to bring what for the tournament? I’ll be honest besides a PS2 I don’t have any home systems at all. And for PS2 I only have like VF4:Evo and I haven’t even opened the damned case lol.

Sup guys, here is the up date. The owner of super arcade wont rent out his machines because its too much of a hassle. He is afraid that his machine might be damaged during transportation and he cannot provide an on site tech. But he said we can have a tourney over there anytime. By the way, the owner speaks english, chinese, cantonese, AND japanese fluently
I have a couple of reasons why X-Box is definitely NOT the way to go for the first ever neo geo tourney, it just makes us sound cheap. I dont mind using roms for home use but for public use, its down right illegal and its going to tarnish the good image of fierceslash.com. So what if the tourney is not in the same location as evo, most people in the area knows where super arcade is anyways. All we need to do is to post on this forum that the first offical neo geo tourney will be held at super arcade, and post alots of flyers at cal poly and other arcades. Its all about marketing and getting the message out to the masses. I’m pretty sure that for those who wants to join will take the extra 5 minutes drive from calpoly to superarcade. As long as we market it right and getting the message out, PEOPLE WILL COME! I just dont know why you guys are so afraid if people will show up or not. Its going to be the first neo tourney for god’s sake, dont expect too much. I’m pretty sure that there are more people going to evo this year compare to the first ever evo years ago. It got this big because of marketing and WORD OF MOUTH. I say we hold the tourney at jap arcade this year, and learn from it. If we get alot of people showing up, then its great. If not, then we have to analize what went wrong, and see what can we improve upon next year. We can ask for people’s opinion after the tourney for advice in areas we need to improve upon. Its all about trial and error. Dont expect something great on the first try.
And by using roms, I’m 100% sure that people from neo-geo.com will not join, just read their posts on what they felt about romz. Not only will you lose potential competitors, you’ll lose your reputation.
For those of you who is going to bitch and wine about how you dont like japanese sticks…get the fuck over it. It is time to get out of your “comfort zone” and learn to adapt to new enviroments. All the best players has the ability to adapt, thats what makes them the best. I used to swore by the american sticks but I’m so tired of not knowing how to play with the jap sticks because it limits which arcade I can go to, which limits the competition I am exposed to. So I just gave it a try, and you know what, give it an hour or two and you wouldnt even know the difference. Now I have this extra “skill” I can say its proudly mine. I guess those of you who dont get out of their “comfort zone” are just chicken shits. Sure, you may have your preferance but wouldnt it be better if you learn how to use both kinds of sticks? More options opens up to you, and you dont have to limit your self to a particular arcade. You may be the shit at your american arcade, but how do you know you really are the shit if you dont play outside of your comfort zone? blah blah blah blah…flame me if you want…

is probably obvious by now. I can’t do the leg work and post flyers in Cali…I’m in bumfukegypt. We will lose a lot of potential gamers, of this I am certain. We’ll have to makeup the amount of random gamers with hardcore locals.
The date is more crucial than ever if we go this route. Most people even those that WANT to be part of this, just won’t want to go away from Evo. Might even be prudent to have it before evo.
But who knows, there’s still a chance a lot of these people will crap out anyway. So you may be right, the tournaments going to be small.
