Cool bro, I have no AES carts. Honestly when it comes down to getting AES machines I just don’t know people in Cali with them. Someone else would have to head up getting them and the carts. Times running out btw.
Ok, I just went back to jap arcade and told the owner that we are going to hold the tourney over there. Here is the list of the games that he has, KOF 98, 02,03. MOTW, SS0, SVC. If everybody is down with it, then I’ll comfirm with the owner tomorrow, but he has to know what time the tourney starts and how long the tourney is going to last. We have to decide right now if we are going to have the tourney all in one day or we have to split it into two days. The owner is concerned about the length of time because he does own three other arcades…so I need to know by tonight if we want it all on July 30. The owner suggest that we have it on two days, but if we really wanted to, he can have it all on one day. It is going to be his first tourney too, but I assured him that everything is going to be fine. We need to get the ball rolling…NOW!
He will set the machine on free play but he does want $1.00 for each entry, which I think its a steal. Most other arcade owners charges way more than that. So maybe we can set the entry fee at $6.00 and the owner gets $1.00. The first place winner gets 50%, 30%for 2nd, 20% for 3rd…I’m just throwing out numbers here, we can work out the number later, but the owner does want $1 for each entry.
Here are the things I need from you guys, someone please design two attractive and informative poster so I can put up for advertisement at the Jap arcade. I suck at graphics so I cant really do it. It doesnt have to be fancy, but I do want the words “NEO-GEO” “SNK” and “Sponcered by WWW.fierceslash.com” somewhere on the poster. And maybe the name of the games we are going to have. The owner allows me to have sign up sheet over at his desk so people can sign up over there, I’ll go there once in a while to up date the list and I’ll post it right here on this forum.
So, this is it guys, there is no turning back. I know some people will bitch about the japanese sticks(read my previous post) but honestly, beggers cant be choosers. We probably need someone bring to bring camcorders to record tournment footage so we can up load them later on for the internet. We really need to expose ourselves to the masses. We should have the tourney on the day EVO doesnt have MVC2 cuz thats going to be the most popular game and I think people would rather join mvc2 instead of this tourney
And what day is that? Honestly I doubt many people will leave evo at all for this tourney but that’s just me. Remember people are going to be having money matches and the like in the lounge area.

well guys, I’m doing the best that I could. I personally dont think we are competing with EVO since we are having tourney’s with different games. Think about it, they dont even have one SNK game at their tourney. We can provide an alternative to other fighting games. If our tourney turns out to be successful, maybe EVO will include some SNK games for next year.
Hey thx a lot accord. Let’s kick this thing into high gear. This event will only be as professional as we make it. I understand where Uncauzi is coming from but I also believe that cabs will be right decision to make, in the long run, for the future of competitive SNK gaming scene in the US. Great idea about the posters. Next week is finals but I’ll work on them soon. I’m no art major though.

Hey uncuzi, I know you have your concerns about not getting enough exposer from EVO by not having the touney on site. And I am aware that some people might not be willing to leave the site to go to our tourney, but here is my take on it. Since Evo is 3 days long, we can make our tourney just one day long. That way, people still have two full days to attend EVO. The best we can do about exposer is to have posters on their site, other arcades, videogame stores, word of mouth, anything you can think of. We must record some tourney footages to post online later on to show others that SNK games are worthy of tourmenent play too.
I think Neo Geo games has a really strong fan base but we are scattered all over the place. It is important that we must satisfy our own fanbase first. I go to superacade and infinity arcade all the time but I have yet so see ONE freaking tourney on ANY snk games. We can be the first to do this for the fans. I know alot of people over here play snk games but for some reason they are too lazy to set up a tourney.
We can be the first to do it. And we can use EVO as our advantage. Think about it, EVO is the only time where all the people from around the globe gathers to play fighting games. By having our poster their, we maxiumize our exposer already. Everybody is going to see our posters. We all know some top japanese players are going to be there too, and I know for a fact that they play KOFs and Samurai showdown games over there…who knows, one of them might even decide to join, thus giving us even more exposer. The Japanese players will feel right at home with our japanese style tourney:), then maybe more americans will soon follow the trend. We must look at the glass of water half full.
To me, the most important thing about this tourney is to have FUN, to meet new people who loves SNK games, and to develope a strong fanbase. Evo is really set up for the Capcom fans, but what about us? When and where do we come in? Are we going to wait for them to include us in? Or are we going take a chance and make things happen for US?

I know Uncuzi cant do it alone, that is why Terry Fanatic and I are going to trying the best that we can to make this tourney possible. Good spirit Mike, I tell you what. I made the initial steps to get this thing moving and as you can tell my time is limited. I say if you and Terry have a campaign in mind to have this thing at supercade then go for it. I’ve gotten word on a few things, which may actually hinder my ability to set up much of anything last night. Just keep me updated on the progress, afterall its not fierceslash that makes the tournaments happen, it’s dedicated fans like you. All fierceslash is at this point is a name with SuperCade as your backup you already have all the bases covered dawg.
We’ll support you any way we know how. Brandon if you’re reading this I’m sure you’re down to help out. Just get the info on where supercade is and I’ll do up somethings for www.fierceslash.com and see if I can get some decent poster designs to you =)
I’m still planning on attending/helping run this thing but really at this point someone else has to head up to organizing before the big day. SO make it so, number 1. Like I said early on, if for some reason we can’t make it out there. There’s really NO reason why this shouldn’t happen without us.

Thanks for your support Uncauzi. If the tourney do happen, you better get your butt down here:) Ok then, I’ll confirm with the owner on monday. Here is a couple of things I have in mind. I will make the tourney one day long so people still have two full days to attend EVO. We should start the tourney on the 30th (second day of EVO) because that would give people at EVO on the first day a chance to see our posters to decide if they want to join the our tourney.
I dont know which game we are going to have but I’ll put up sign up sheets and let people check off the games they are interested in, and based on the list we will then decide which top 4 games we will run. But I prefer kof2k3, SS0, SVC, and motw because each game showcase diverse style of game play from different series.
We should start the tournement in the afternoon, maybe around 2-3pm, that way it’ll give people enough time to get here and get ready. Entry fee shouldnt be set too high to encourage more people to sign up, maybe at $6 for each game and $1 from each entry goes to the owner. The remainder of the entry fee will be split amoung the top three winners from each game. First place 60%, second 30%, third 10%. Players should only pick the same team/character throughout the whole tournament. Secret characters are allowed. Any body has any objections concerning the rules, please let me know. If not, I will post the offical date and rules on June 18th.
The hard part of the tourney is to decide what kind of bracket and elemination system we are going to have. I guess it depends on how many people signed up for each game. I have to do some research on this or if anybody has any suggestions on this, please do post.
Terry Fanatic, it’ll be great if you can make some poster that are going to be put up at the EVO site. I’ll deal with the Posters and signup sheet over here at Japarcade since I’m closer. I’ll also try print out some mini flyers too.

Hey I see in 2 days a lot of things change, first of all big PROPS to ACCORD i thought no one else was really interested in doing something anymore. What really surprised me is that you guys want to move out of evo :eek: . Evo is the best place to expose our selves and EVERYBODY knows it, also its the best place toget some extra players people might want to join just for the fun of it between their matches. Dud dont take it like Im against you, Im totally on your side I really want this DREAM to come true, know that I see that is not only a dream to me but for more ppl to I want to see it happen, but I cant alone, you cant alone, UnCauzi cant alone lets all workout something where we can all feel that that its going to fair. Also Im not complaining about the sticks but I’ve been to SA a couple of times and their sticks are not good enough to do a tournament on them, their just too worn out. The issue is that I’ve talked to a couple of people about the sticks and we feel that we can adapt to the sticks to play on them. Casual play no problem 
but for money and reputation thats that issue:bluu:

Here is the plan if your really sure that a tournament at SA will work lets do a TEST-Tounament 2 fridays before EVO to see how every body feels playing on jap sticks and what they think about playing out of evo. I understand everybody’s concern about the exposer thing, but trust me, I would rather have it at evo too. But who has the games and the systems? I persoanlly dont know anybody who
has AES or supergun, so I cant really help on that department. I think to make our life easier is to have tourney at superacade because they already have to games, we dont have to worry about getting the games together. Our only problem is the exposer
The ONLY WAY to have tourney onsite is to use the XBOX. If more of you dont mind using the XBOX, then I guess its ok. But from what I understand is that kof2k3 and SS0 is not on xbox yet, I could be wrong.
I cant really comment on SA’s kof2003 joysticks because I dont really play that game but their SVC (the only game I play)is really good, I can only assume that its the same for 2003 and the rest of the games.
I think its a great idea for people go to SA to try out their sticks first. I personally think that if the japanese uses the stick competitively, so can everybody.
Here is an idea that might work. We should set up unofficial XBox matches/money matches on the first and second day of evo at the lounge area to expose ourselves. While we are at it, let people know that there is going to be an OFFICIAL tourney at superarcade the following day. That way, we have people onsite advertising for the tourney, and people can still have casual, money matches over there. We dont have to do one or the other, we can do both.
It’ll be great if people can show up monday night 6-9 to discuss these issues and try out the sticks for themselves. I’ll be be there for sure cuz I want to make this thing happen damnit!!!
hey folks, K-Scrube here…i will be taggin along with The Answer to play some KOF2003 at Super Arcade its now 6:36pm as of this posting so we should be there hopefully by 7:30pm he’s pickin me up and the 405 is booty right now so if anyone wants to play some ganmes we’ll be there…although i think he’ll do most of the playing while i go most of the spectating

I got some bad news for you guys. It looks like the tourney at superarcade will be cancelled for two reasons. First, after further discussion with the answer and xtg, it seems to me that there will be a lack of interst in the tourney because its going to be off site and because they feel that they are in an disadvantage using the jap sticks, which I totally understand. When money and reputation is involved, people tends to get serious in the tourney;) It looks like the tourney will be at evo using modded xbox so people can use their joystick of choice. Second, I just found out that I am going to be out of country with my family until early september. That means I cant even fucking attend evo:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:
