SNES classic adapter to use an arcade stick

Is there such a device or any way to be able to use say a Razer Panther or any PS4 stick on the SNES mini. The 8bitdo seems like it would work, but the sticks arent wireless. Is there something out there like it?

SNES Classic or some people call it the Mini uses Wii style controllers and has that Wii nunchuck connector.
So what you want is a USB to Wii controller adapter.

Something like this

Awesome!!! Thanks man! Since I don’t own or never have owned a wii, I would hav never thought that. About to rider one right now

Damn, just tried looking for this and it’s minimum $50 and ships from japan. I hate the what if it doesn’t work factor if I can’t return it since it shipped from over seas. Anyone have one and can confirm it works??

The other thing you could do is hack a common ground Wii Controller and wire that to one of Undammed’s USB encoders

It’d be interesting if that device works. Playing 3s, super turbo and all the capcom fighters on the snesc is pretty cool (yes, I already have a pi setup, but this is still cool)

It’d be nice to use a joystick.

Are the classic controllers straight forward or do they need inverting and diodes? There’s a few ebay snes classic controllers that I’m happy to rip apart and pad hack (if no inverting is required).

I just haven’t been able to find much information on wii/nes/snes classic pad hacking.

edit: bit the bullet and purchased these. If it works great! If it doesn’t, I’m OK with a 20 dollar loss

Wait, how are you playing 3s and Super Turbo on an SNES Classic?..

On the topic of Classic Controller hacking, they’re all pretty straightforward except for the original CCs: due to the analog R/L buttons, those needed an additional circuit connected to them to function properly.
But it looks like you just got knockoff SNES/SFC controllers, so you’re fine.

There is a hack to add other SNES Roms onto the Classic, its the same hack as the NES Classic

Right. But that’s not what I was going at.
Unless there are some super-stripped-down ROMs that I’m not aware of, 3rd Strike and Super Turbo aren’t on the SNES.

It’s the arcade version running on the fba alpha CPS2 and fba core

I’ll report back in about a month when I get them.

I might connect it up to a db15 connector

I failed to notice

Last I check the SNES Classic don’t run FBA, read the topic title.

Oooooh, so you meant on your RPi setup?

Because you had said:

So it sounded like you were playing 3S/ST on the SNES Classic.

Please check facts before throwing the hammer down because the SNES classic DOES run FBA (it may not be officially endorsed by Nintendo, but it does run it) and I did read the topic title because I want an adapter to use any of my usb fight sticks with my SNES classic.

So you’re hijacking other people’s threads now?

Got it.

That is cool. I also hacked mine and added games but didn’t know that those other sf2 games were available. Yes this kinda went off topic lol.
Anyway if anyone finds a way to make use of arcade sticks please post it here

Ooooh. I didn’t know that. Gotta look into that now.

Back on-topic: hacking Wii/Wii-U Classic Controllers is an easy and cheap way to use arcade sticks on an SNES Classic. I have a Wii Classic Controller module for my ABS Modular stick, and it works just fine on my SNES Classic.
The catch is the button configuration.
Ideally, you’d want your 6 buttons to be:
[upper row] Y X L
[lower row] B A R

But if you convert a modern 8-button stick with the standard layout to SNES Classic, your button layout would be:
[upper row] Y X R L
[lower row] B A # #
Where the “#” are buttons with no function.

This is because the SNES Classic does not treat the ZR and ZL buttons (ie, the R2 and L2 buttons) as anything.

So I managed to get a really cheap wii classic pro controller and pad hacked it since I did not want to risk getting the converter that may not work.

Having never hacked a Wii controller, there’s a weird behaviour and I have no idea why it’s happening.

When you plug it in, it’ll work initially, then it stops working. After about a minute it works as expected.

I chopped off all the ribbons so there’s no shoulder or analog sticks and it’s piggy backing off a 360 pcb

My top row is Y, X, L, ZL
Bottom row is B, A, R, ZR

Once it’s working, it works great and I’d recommend a pad hack instead of a converter that nobody can vouch for.

Did it behave like that before you chopped it up?

I’ve plugged in official Nintendo Classic Controller (the original one with the analog R/L and no grips) and Classic Controller Pro (the later one without analog triggers, but with the grips) into my SNES Classic and didn’t see that behavior. (Funny story: In fact, I haven’t even used the stock SNES controllers that came with the Classic Edition; I’ve only used my CC Pro)

I have a cheap knock-off Classic Controller Pro from eBay sitting around somewhere that I’ll check later if it exhibits the same behavior as what you’re seeing.

Nah it didn’t. I’ve asked around on another thread Absolute Question and Answer Thread v.3 (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!) so I won’t take this one OT
