Sneaker Ninjas Unite! - The Guy matchup thread

it is not safe. the timing is strict, but if he does that block string, Guy gets a Bushin Chain.

This thread is a waste of time. Almost no useful information.

Well, obviously, you’re in it.

I’m not sure if this information has been posted up here or not, or if it is 100% concrete, but I just wanted to put this up before I forgot.

I was playing a Dictator, and the Bushin Flip->elbow drop was able to knock him out of his scissor kick.

Also, when Dan activated his Haoh Gadouken ultra at point blank, you can activate EX cmd dash, and it the Haoh Gadouken will pass through you harmlessly.

Scissor Kick is a low priority move, c.mp beats it every time.

Can we organize this somehow? this is scattered bits of information everywhere, i mean that was cool in the initial thread, but this is suppose to be a concise database of matchup information.

Either OP organizes it, or someone that will, re-make

If no one organizes it by tomorrow, i’ll try to get to work on it

shenmue is on it, he just updated the first post an hour ago…

Im sure he will be putting it all down once everything is covered, matchups take more then a week to be formed, just be patient. Other characters need to get there strats going for guy 2.

Premium

dictator
izuna grabs his u2

played a tiny bit against Ibuki.

Noticed that Bushin Izuna is punished from Kazegiri. Did however notice that Kaiten Izuna Otoshi overtook a lot of Ibuki’s mid-air moves, such as Kunai (and EX), and pretty sure it took Hien’s out of the way too if timed right.

I can get some more info later.

I’m not trying to be a dick, you put some work into your write up…but this is advice for how to play against a really bad Blanka.

Guy can’t pin Blanka down at all and Blanka’s run-away game is outstanding. I wish I could be more helpful here, but as a Blanka player I don’t know the match up yet. I only know that I would not approach the fight like you’ve described here.

Thanks, yea I’m trying to organize everything and put it on the first page. Problem is, everything won’t fit on the first post, as there is a text character limit. Unfortunately, I did not reserve the first 3 posts, unless a mod can do that so I can put a bunch of info divided into the first 3 posts of this thread. Also, anyone feel free to organize the info, and I will do my best to put it on the first page.

Crimminal Upper can be punished without meter via standing HK.

Being a Balrog player as well, I’m gonna give my impressions of what the matchup will be hypothetically like. Bear in mind, I live in Perth, Australia, so there’s not many players. I was the only REAL Balrog main, and I think I’m gonna be the only REAL Guy main here too. So I don’t actually have another really good Balrog player to play against often enough to test out stuff so it’s just me imagining what would and wouldn’t work. So yeah, most of what I write will be from Balrog’s perspective and not Guy’s since Balrog is my old trust main from SF4 and Guy is new sexy wears Nike Dunks main in SSF4 and is just a baby

Straight up, Balrog will outfootsie the shit out of Guy. No joke. I feel the same way about many of the new characters, they have all these awesome moves that rush them forward really quickly, but well timed cr jab by Balrog will stuff it and RU loop combo ahoy. Really you have to be on point and score that lovely untechable knockdown to be able to start working in Guy’s mixup game.

How to get the untechable knockdown? Play around with Rog’s jab DSP range. Footsie at that range and bait out a DSP and punish with absorb, lvl2 into hurt combo. That’s when you start your mixups and stick to him like glue. Either that, or just do the Alex Valle way. Walk forward and block. Basically, you want to make him scared to throw out heavy pokes like s. roundhouse, s. fierce, cr. roundhouse and lp DSP(which are his best ones to keep people out). Focus absorb is the best way. Either absorb and FA or absorb, FADC and start a combo with jab. That’s when you’ll be able to move in closer more safely and start being able to footsie with s. strong buffered into target combo > jab hozanto.

The main thing with Rog is that his normal ways of breaking armor aren’t great. The ones I use are mixing between TAP and jab DSP. TAP breaks armor and guarantees standing counter hit into RU loop for BIG damage and that makes people hella scared to focus fish. The main thing though is that TAP is much slower than DSP and can be stuffed or thrown out of very easily. You just have to react to what Balrog says. If he says a number, it’s counter hit time. Rog’s pokes reach about half screen I’d say. So you can maybe fish for CH cr. fierce into cr. rh to get an untechable knockdown too. I prefer knockdown over damage from s. rh, since Rog’s wakeup is ass.

When pressuring Balrog, you have to be airtight with block strings. Rog’s cr. jab is GAD LAI not because of 3 frames (many other characters have 3 frame jab) but because of hit box and block stun. He get’s one cr. jab blocked and the momentum quickly shifts back to his favour and your pressure is gone. He can just keep jabbing until you’ve been pushed back to the range where he can footsie you to death which is not in your favour and you have to get in again.

Other stuff you can bait out are headbutts for big punish damage. I think I would do this using bushin flip into elbow drop just outside of fierce headbutt range which is half screen. After that you can punish with combo of choice. Maybe even bait out his cr. fierce anti with elbow drop too and then do instant run slide for untechable knockdown into shenanigans.

Don’t do any random or unsafe jumps or random bushin flips. It is so easy to react to Guy’s ridiculous floaty jump with cr. fierce it’s not funny. That’s why the knockdown is oh so important. All your resets and stuff should work on Balrog when doing mixups. Most important is to crossup and crossup feint (Sakura style!) so that he loses his reversal moves or is simply afraid to throw them out.

I’m guessing as a Balrog player, if anything it’s like fighting a mini Rufus. I got everything I need to keep you out. But once you get in, it’s one way ticket to mix up town. Any other specifics about the Balrog matchup just ask me and I’ll see if I can answer. That’s all I can think of for now though.

VS Adon: Bushin Flip throw can grab him out of all his jaguar tooth attacks, and if I’m not mistaken blocked jaguar knees can be punished with the Bushin chain. Also, I believe the j.mk beats out Jaguar tooth too.

Nice tips. Also, I found that doing the ninja sickle generally trades with his dash punches and/or wins if you time it properly. Depends on the type of dash punch as well. I actually haven’t tried it with his other moves but so far, ninja sickle is a decent way to counter his punches. Gotta mess with it more so don’t take my word.

If you successfully land both hits of the sickle, you can ex-Hozanto right after and it should hit.

I admit, I too haven’t had that much match-up experience with Vega, but the way I got my behind handed to me last night was embarassing. I feel like I was beat by everything that he threw out. The cr.mp is a good poke and netural j.hk did work against his wall dives. However, does any one have a consistent strategy that I can use. I found myself crouching infront of him frozen getting clawed to death, then when I try to respond he crosses me up and goes into a combo. Anybody been playing against vega alot that can help? Also I found that the mk-tatsu didn’t work for me, maybe I didn’t use it right?

What can Guy do against Ryu and Cody? I keep getting destroyed by fireball spam, and I dont know how to punish Cody effectively.

My god… anyone fight a fuerte that actually knows what they are doing yet? It’s the biggest nightmare match for me so far… Fuerte’s U2 is also insanely good. I’ve gotten jump ins, run slides, bunshinflips all U2’d by Fuerte. Any tips would be great guys… it’s a pretty damn big headache of a match.
