It’s not simple to sentence men and women equality based of the same crime?
The idea is simple…if they both break the law the sentencing should reflect the crime. This Woman raped a 8 year old 50 times…I don’t see any reason to have a arm charm approach and as her how she feels about the crime. How often do rapist get this kind of red carpet treatment.
You’re stating what should happen. Not what it is happening.
I’ll say this again since you appear to have missed it the first time: the legal system is a part of society. Gender inequalities in regard to the legal system is a symptom of a larger systemic problem. This isn’t an isolated issue, it’s a trend that you see over and over again.
So no, it’s not simple to get numerous people to see past their own gender bias in order to make more rational decisions.
I’m sorry. We can’t solve this problem with the Nike slogan.
Yeah listen no one is pretending the slap on the wrist treatment isn’t caused by female privilege. The need for people to sit down and ask women why they committed a crime and justify their actions is precisely the reason why the law seems to only apply to men most of the time. Everyone here is already aware of that fact and beyond that step already so no one is missing anything…your just a little behind because we already know the cause now were on to actually discussing solutions.
Some other user already explained it last page. Males are more leaning towards sex than females, even in younger ages. Cut feminism, this is true, and denying than males and females are different is nothing but anti-feminism.
The kid simply had lots of free sex, what’s the problem with it? He wasn’t forced, he wasn’t violented, he wasn’t emotionally manipulated. Hell, he loved it, he was bragging about it!
Of course if it had been a girl, she would have refused to have sex with a grown man because it would harm them for the size difference. Girls develop actual sex will until very older, like probably 16 or so, some of them even like 10 or 20 years later… But little kids are always fantasizing with adult women and that, everyone knows! They of course accept having sex with a woman, just like we would.
The only problem here is that the girl (she was 16, come on, it’s not like she was a creepy 50 years old or something) was looking for pleasure by taking advantage of the kid when that’s illegal, ok, that’s morally reprehensive because it’s against the law. But as the kid didn’t got any harm but actually enjoyed it, I agree with the sentence, 2 years in jail is OK.
Now, the problem is what’s going to happen to the kid, he will need some kind of therapy maybe, but the problem was not the sex, it is the sudden absence of it.
I wonder how jailhouse justice works with this type of crime. Will she get treated the same way a guy would get treated by “Big Ramone” in Cell Block D? I doubt rape is as common at all in female prisons, but than again I have never seen any numbers…
When people talk about rape culture they are quick to condemn the male rapist and throw away the key…yet if the rapist is a woman suddenly we need to understand her struggle.
8 year old boys don’t have the mental capacity or maturity to be able to consent to something like sex. When you’re at an age that you can be coerced into doing something by giving them a lollipop or $5, you shouldn’t be making decisions. That’s why if I give an 8 year old kid a beer, I’m going to get in trouble. If I say “Hey kid, this stuff is great. Give it a try.” the kid 9/10 is gonna go “Oh yeah, free stuff!” or “Is it really that good?” and try it.
She didn’t get seduced by this 8 year old, she kept him locked away and fucked him. She told him that doing that was right. That’s rape.
This is completely false. There is a far greater need to understand male driven sexual assault because men are the ones doing by far and away most of the assaulting. From my knowledge, most profiles for sexual predators are male. Why? Because we need to understand them. Most research directed toward this population is male. Why? Because we need to understand them.
It’s significantly harder to research the females of this population because you simply have a lack of numbers. Any factorial or correlation data will be much weaker than those focusing on studying males.
But don’t take my word for it. Go out and look at the publications yourself. I can assure you that right now as I type this post that there are far, far, more professionals concentrating their efforts on understanding male pedophiles than female ones. The research is logistically easier and it will have a far bigger impact on society.
Your assertion that we only attempt to understand female pedophiles while blindly convicting the male ones is pure paranoia.
You cannot legally consent to anything until you are of age. This includes putting anything in your name. One of the reasons aside from moral obligation that statutory rape exists is because the natural result of sex is childbirth. Parentage is a legal obligation one you cannot fulfill if you are underage because you cannot legally own land, pay for utilities, and depending on the state work a job with high enough pay to support one person let alone a child. Being able to consent to sexual activity at the age of 8 would also mean consenting to pay 10 years of back child support. This isn’t how it works at the end of the day those obligations are met by us the taxpayer, while we pay for foster care, staffing for adoption cases, or fund group homes. Argue all you want for the ability for an 8 year old to rationalize, which is a pretty futile excersize in and of itself, but from a legal standpoint, one that protects the interest of the community, the law makes sense.
They completely are. It’s only that their decision is usually “wrong” (or considered to be wrong) because immaturity.
Rationalize? Yeah, sure. Sex impulse is a basic instinct. There’s no “rationality” needed on it. It’s just the urge of intention of satisfying a basic need.
The sex didn’t seem to give this kid any problem in society, it was as simple as an orgasm exchange.
I agree it’s OK this to be illegal and everything, but come on, this particular case did’nt turned out that bad. Just ask to the kid, he clearly had a good time. It could have turned everything wrong, however. Thank god it seems it wasn’t that bad for him.
