Smokin' Sick Style! The Dante General Discussion Thread!

My only concern with Morrigan is solid keep away. But she is the pure battery of the team so I dunno. I guess super solid play would be the only way to deal with good keep away if she is on point? (Which would only happen if my other two chars get killed)

Btw anyone for good team names?

I was thinking Team Duracell Devil

She’s fast, can fly around(fly gives her a faster airdash), and has fast dashes that cover different angles. She’ll have ways in. Just play solid and use her fireball as cover if you’re up against a zoning character. since you can follow it and it can take hits from other projectiles(some like Doom’s beam may destroy it in one hit though and don’t get caught with a hyper when using it). If your opponent lets her in, they’ll regret it.

This isn’t the Morrigan thread, but I think Dante and Morrigan work well. I may have to use this guy since he really helps Morrigan out from what I played…

you guys think after ground series>stinger>million stab>launch>killer bee> launch>charge shot> prop shredder> s.j> sky dance> then how ever you wanna finish it will work.? only difference from this from isedelica’s is the added killer bee…

They may recover before the charge shot.

You and me both dood

How do you do that Dante combo that Marn seems to be doing all the time in the finals Against Justin?

*launch, air combo, slice special thing, launch, aircombo, flame twirl thing, hyper… but then in inputs xD

Pretty sure it goes:

:l:, :m:, :h:, :s: (Launch), j.:l:, j.:m:, j.:h:, j.:qcf::l: (Killer Bee), :s: (relaunch), j.:m:, j.:h:, j.:qcf::h: (Sky Dance)>Million Dollar. That’s the basic one, you can add a lot more to it.

I was very disappointed when that was all joe managed to pull off with dante. I was hoping to see some new stuff but i guess he didn’t have enough time with dante to really come up with anything.

Dante has 40 moves.

Be serious.

It will be truly be at least a year before we really see what this half breed can do.

I wasn’t faulting him, I was just disappointed.

So I was at the fight club yesterday (2/3/2011) - event was great. Tons of people. A VIP section (yet the only VIP there IMO was Seth, Rey Jimenez and MegaRan, no offense to “gootecks” LOL). Food, drinks, music - it was all there.

Played 4 matches, won all 4.

Used Trish, Dante and Hulk.

Trish is fucking awesome. I dominated with her. Dante on the other hand…if you approach playing Dante as a rushdown character you might not do as well as you’d anticipate. In many ways incorperating his specials properly requires a lot of technique, almost making a technical/speed hybrid character. You really need to be careful and use Dante’s specials at the right moment, at the right situation. Dante - needs - to have good assist characters. To help create openings.

For example, using hysteric (the rocket attack, QCF + C) when another opponent that has a projectile that is on the ground isn’t a good way to go. A lot of their projectiles will beat out Dante’s hysteric. And his rockets will “self-detonate” if Dante gets hit too quickly. I know a lot of us already knew that attack had some start-up to it, but it’s pretty eye-opening to see it get stuffed in an actual match that you’re playing in. Instead, what I started to do was kind of use Dante’s hysteric as a long distance anti-air, if the opponent would jump/super jump towards me I’d use hysteric (which tracks) and then dash under on the other side of the opponent when they land, call out an assist and then do Dante’s bnb’s combo. That worked gold.

Also, Dante’s crouching A is god-like. Tremendous range, safe, and easy to hit confirm off of.

Also, Dante’s health seems okay. It’s below average, but not by much. No worse than a typical “vagina tax” that the female characters tend to get.

His Devil Trigger, yeah - people need to start using it more. It too is awesome. The health regeneration (for red health) is pretty significant/noticeable. In regards to it’s health regen - it’s almost like a mini-x factor (not sure how or if Dante can cancel normals via devil trigger). But the health regen, defense and offense boost is -clearly- there, noticeable and can very well help turn the match in your favor. Bottom line, people need to use it more. I think that’s an early key/lesson Dante players will need to learn.

And lasty, Dante’s teleport can be effective if used properly. If you kind of get into a projectile match with Dante, a well timed teleport can catch your opponent off guard. I did this against a pretty solid MODOK player.

I actually like that. He is truly a toolbox char. You need to use the right tool at the right moment. It will weed out the weak players from using him.

For the first week I’m going to work on getting in on on my opponents without using a single assist or teleporting because that would be too easy. Just to see what I can come up with.

Just seems to me like Trish is more easy mode top tier. If someone tries to run from her you just shoot shit at them till they stop, but with Dante you need to actually be good at the game and I’m all for that.

Thats good to hear bro, been planning on using DT extensively with my dante so its good to hear it has a lot of potential. Good to hear dante isn’t an easy mode character as originally thought, hopefully I can find some good dante gameplay in the fight club vids.

Yeah, Dante’s great normals give him that rushdown/speed character feel. But in order to effectively incorperate his specials (which a lot of them do great damage and chip) you need some technique. Busting out an Artermis or Hysteric at the wrong time thinking it’s like (lollerz look a haduuuken) is a quick way to eat some damage.

But yeah…Trish is pretty fucking sick dude. She can rush down pretty well with her mutli-direction air dashes and she’s got long range on her normals plus great projectiles and traps.

Using round-trip and spamming QCF+C (low voltage attack) does SO MUCH FUCKING chip damage it’s stupid. It’s equivalent in damage to one clean hit from another character’s projectile.

Eh the team I was gonna play to get used to the game was Dante, Trish, and Deadpool since they seem to have good synergy. Then once I got better I would work on my different teams that I wanted to master.

Dante is just gonna be this constant work in progress. I really wanna see what air resets I can come up with in the corner with air throw to rain storm OTG or even his ground throw and what he can do with that.

Yeah, I purposely avoided falling into the “Marness” with Dante in my matches. I’m sure I could have dashed in, waiting for an opening and did Dante’s bnb 100% combo. But I tried to be more technical with him. And in that, he has a lot of depth. For a character that is going to be so over-used with his “rushdown-capalities” I think it’s prudent for us to develop alternate techniques with Dante to really surprise your opponents. And yes, I think Dante can develop effective ‘alternate’ strategies. He certainly has the variety in specials to do so.

i was at the fightclub yesterday and my team was dante ryu and x23 (i would switch her out with zero at times tho). His teleport is very good especially for mix ups i would use x23 ankle slicer then teleport above and use j.b into cr a,st b,st c, srkb~srkb,E,sky dance, million dollars. does pretty good damage and the beowolf combo two is pretty sick. Another thing i would do would to do cr a,st b,st c,fwd c mash into million stab, use x23 ankle slicer support, revolver (not sure if its an overhead but people sure didnt block it),launcher, air bnb, into million dollars.

I went to the fight club yesterday as well. Dante is REALLY good imo. Played 4 games and went 2-2 with Arthur-ammy-dante. Jam session worked really well as an aa for arthur since people were so predictable with there get in timings/angles. Ammy does little for Arthur, but she herself is an incredible point and her cold star goes perfectly with dante on point, plus Dante can make really good use of arthurs gold assist projectile. The team has incredible synergy in my mind even with dhcs, plus they all have a form of playing lame/keepaway, and ammy and Dante can go on the extreme offensive for short bursts. I may switch out Arthur for a different character such as sentinel and make ammy or Dante point/battery.

I don’t really think Dante is rushdown… Seems more like midranged trapping/lockdown with an emphasis on defensiveness… He can cover the screen with lots of shit and his normals have really good range. Dante is an extremely fun character. I don’t really care if everyone uses him.

Im definitely gonna run dante with a good battery to keep him in devil trigger mode. Hopefully we still have batteries in marvel 3.

As long as there are characters with meh Hypers, there will always be a battery.

Chris, great battery.
