Dante has safe long rage normals, great DHC’s, two moves that can’t be pushblocked, air dash, teleport, great zoning tools, builds meter good, have almost infinite reset options, a true reset unblockable, can zone you, rush you, grab you at full screen(grapple), great mobility, the only one besides doom with 3 incredible assists, has synergy with almost all the cast, the most moves of all characters, works in any spot, and a lot more stuff; it is fair that you need to work hard to do damage and play well with him.
It is better on point or in 2nd, but if your team relly benefits from his assists, then put him on that spot, you can devil trigger in x factor lvl 3 and spam thunderbolts, it chips A LOT, or do whatever you like, is dante he can do everything,also dante is not reliant on assists, the speed and power from x-factor just makes him god.
Stinger into Reverb Shock is good, but be careful because if you miss stinger you cannot BC, Air Play is the projectile you want to abuse more, that with a beam assists is great for zoning, airdash into j.H is the most common way to try to get in, because the great range it has then you can do stinger+beam assist>teleport>airdash j.H simple but effective(see Yipes, he uses this like 13137192831 times per match and it works), also it is great for advancing guard abuses because it completely negeates it because of the teleport, with a low assist(especially Felicia’s one) you can do unblockables all day, also if you need to punsih you can do Stinger+Beam into a hammer/j.S combo(there are more assist that allow this) for good damage, if you have problems with divekicks use preemptive acid rains , also works against teleporters, in Devil Trigger Thunderbolt and Vortex completely negate advance guard, you can also end with weasel shot some blocktrings to be in frame advantage, this is not much stuff but hope it helps you a little at least.
