Jim beam…you got banned from the smashboards forums. After seeing what you posted here…i can see why. You my friend…are a dumb ass.
Hey Jim… this M3D, a.k.a. Jason from Major League Gaming.
It’s my job to travel all over the country and run SSBM tournaments for MLG. I’ve played with every single major community of smashers in the US except for Houston/Dallas (who I’ll see in March FINALLY!!). I’m good friends with Ken, as well as Isai, Azen, the Kishes, Eddie, the guys from DA in NYC, Mike G, Rori and just about everyone you’ve ever heard of in the Smash scene. I play these guys every single month at our events and watch them, tourny after tourny, dominate the field. In fact, I’ve played pretty much all the best users of every character in the game and guess what… Mewtwo ain’t good.
If you REALLY think you know more than the most dominant smashers in the world (Ken/Isai/Azen all defeated Captain Jack, remember?) then why don’t you come out to one of our events and prove it? Show up with your amazing Mewtwo and show us why he doesn’t suck. Please.
In fact… if you will come to a MLG tournament this season I will let you enter BOTH singles and doubles for FREE. I won’t charge you a thing. Just show up and show off Mewtwo and all the low tier characters you want and educate all of us misguided “experts” at the game. Rewrite the tier list. It would be wonderful. You can find our schedule of events on http://www.mlgpro.com

and whoever said sheik was broken… hahahahaha… that was so last year.
Fox > Shiek
Marth/Peach > Fox
etc, etc, etc
Smash = Balanced
/i win
can you people please post in the right fuckin’ Forums!!
Oh and, Shiek is broken and SSBM is the most unbalance game ive ever seen. It’s a party game, not to be taken seriously :xeye:
(hehe…)
Fox gets fucked up too quick by Marth and Peach (peach’s downsmash = game over). I agree, but I got to say his upsmash is way too unbalanced. Prolly equivalent to crouching fierce on CvS2. They need to tone that shit down.
Smash is very counter-character dependent sometimes… but definitely not broken. Over half the cast is playable in most tournament situations and even more become options situationally. At the largest smash tournament in the country two weekends ago (full 128 bracket of almost every top smasher in the country) and Kirby player broke into the top 13. DK is useful against Fox. etc…
How many fighting games are out there right now that have been played for more than 3 years that have 20 or so characters that are viable tournament characters? I honestly don’t know cause I’m not really in the competitive scene except for smash, but my guess is that it isn’t a whole lot.
Wow… Haven’t seen Jim Beam get owned like that since I left Arkansas… and is Smash really that big now? I didn’t think it was all that deep… (goes digging in GC games)
Smash has been the biggest fighting game in the states for a couple years now. It’s popular because it’s fun enough for casual people to have fun, and has enough depth for hardcore tournament players to keep finding shit and having interesting matches. You don’t hear about it much on here because this is largely a site for more traditional fighters, but just look at some turnouts for smash tourneys compared to ones for SF or guilty gear or tekken, and it’s definitely impressive.
Me, I know I’ll never have the kind of reaction speed to play Fox in tourneys and shit. Fucker is crazy. Hell, I’m still getting the hang of wavedashing with Luigi.
Do people just not understand what tiers are? Fighting games are not perfectly balanced. Deal with it. Tiers are based on technical advantages some characters have over other characters. These are based on findings by the player community, and often things are discovered that change the tiers a bit. They’re not infallable. They’re simply a chart that lists what characters are best with the current environment. If someone discovers something amazing about a formally low-tier character, it can shake things up a lot, especially if the formally high-tier characters can’t deal with the new discovery. The longer a game is out, the more accurate tiers become.
So having some “scrub” pick a character based on tiers isn’t neccesarily bad, and in fact the scrub is more likely to ignore tiers.
Note: Let’s not argue what a scrub is. A scrub is someone who values fun over winning.
Your article does not hold water, as it called QCF+LP complex.
Nintendo also did away with the more complex input system that traditional fighting games used. No more “Down-to-Over + low punch.”
Every fighting game is full of self rightous tier whores. If it bothers you so much, go beat them. If not, why the hell does it matter? You’ll probably never see them again anyway, and it’s just their opinion. Don’t get yourself so worked up.
And anyway, if you HONESTLY think Bowser could beat shiek on a consistent level…I worry about you. None of his moves are quicker than hers, all of hers out prioritize his, and pretty much anything he does, shiek can do better, and then do it faster. Mewtwo isn’t bad though, he’s just a run away character. It’s a known fact Marth is a beast, so why try to fight him in close? Hanging around on ground too long will get you killed, plain and simple.
Jigglypuff owns you

I’m still pissed off that they seem to have toned down Kirby from the N64 version. He is still playable, but not the godly monster I used to own folk with on a consistent basis.
oh snap! good do see high level smash players. Im a beast with ganondorf. I hope I showed the at the challenge 5 tournament that empire arcadia and the nintendo street team made. Id love to go to smash tourny,s in nyc.
Capcom fan… check out www.smashboards.com and click on the tournament room. There is stuff up in or near NYC all the time.
Every character can be as effective as any other. Tiers mean easier to use not neccessarily better. If you want use Bowser, just put in more effort. Just because you can’t accidentally kick ass on your first day with a character doesn’t mean you should quit. Now stop bitching and practice to prove these tier whores wrong.
M3D. listen bud. I am the best luigi in the world…NO ONE CAN BEAT MY LUIGI! I AM UNSTOPPABLE!.
I CAN BEAT ISAI,KEN,AZEN, CAPT. JACK,ZULU,BROWN MARIO, DO YOU KNOW WHY?
I AM

I think you meant to switch “easier” and “better” around.
They toned down Kirby because they recognized that he was super-broken. Unfortunately they toned his ass down so much he ended up as a 3rd tier POS. Why do programmers always fail at balancing attempts WWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY!!!:crybaby:
Higher Samus!:cyborg:
Nope. Higher tiered characters are easier to use. If you know what you’re doing, you can be effective with anybody.
