Normal rules also allow for gentleman’s agreement.
So cg if both parties agree to uct can they play on it?

As we are nearing the end of our first chunk of the Smash league, it’s time to reflect on how this current approach has affected you. Did you like it? Do you want something removed, changed, different? Please bring all these opinions to me

Now now, settle down, there is a reason for this

Part of my goal with these tournaments is to allow for tweaking and creative tournament designs, of which I greatly appreciate your feedback.

HOWEVER! In order to truly appreciate and evaluate the off kilter rules, each ‘different’ tournament period will be followed by a control ‘normal’ tournament period for comparison, creating a crazy/normal/crazy/normal over many weeks. On top of that, it grants a leeway period to allow for greater pondering of the next ruleset over a greater time period and allows for those who missed the entry date or had to sit out the tournament a chance to re-enter.

With that said, lemme hear what you think of the setup so far

what exactly are you trying to accomplish with these “tourneys”?

Standard tournaments often allow Gentlemans, so I will as well. If two peeps agree, that’s on them. I won’t add UCT until it becomes a legal stage, but hell if you two want to play on Gamer or Great Cave Offensive I won’t stop you. Just make sure to ask your opponent first

As for what I’m trying to accomplish, there are often two camps of people, those that promote the crazier stuff like items and certain questionable stages, and those that want more of a standard

I’m trying to provide a base for us when we all go ‘Why is blah blah blah not allowed in tournaments?’, and we can all respond by pointing to these leagues and saying ‘Because blah blah happened’

In order to not only have off the wall tournaments 24/7 to which many people object, but to also provide a common base of comparison, we alternate crazy/normal/crazy/normal.

For example, this current iteration has shown a trend that even though people ask for a large majority of stages, generally the default to the tournament standard and at most five of the tamer stages.

I’m letting you know in advance that after this ‘standard’ tournament will be an items tournament with the items voted on based on Cynt’s rankings. But that’s far off.

At it’s core, we’re all just playing for a prize that I put up at the end of the tournament. Why not experiment a little?
