Skullgirls~

Just throwing it out there that comparisons to a “flash fighting game” don’t necessarily have to be insults.

Capoeira Fighter 3 - Online Fighting Game from Shockwave.com

indeed, but in this case, it was

the link that TBG posted looked cool.

Man I can’t wait to see some more footage and reveals for this game. The suspense is killing me. Well that’s a good thing. Can’t say that leaks all over the internet help keep the hype for a game. I can’t wait for an official release date.

this game is looking absolutely gorgeous. inspiring stuff guys. I love the cartoony fluidness of the animations.

One thing that does kind of bug me is the after-images on the supers though. I know it’s a classic effect that does have it’s place, but in a way it kind of distracts from the beautiful animation. Maybe consider making the after-images a bit more faded so they aren’t so imposing?

Also, I’m very impressed with the backgrounds. the painted look is so stylish and vibrant. That treehouse village really made me want to jump in and explore XD. Props for not going the usual route and making bland 3D backgrounds in spite of the 3D engine. (which is pretty darn impressive, seriously! That lighting!)

Effects are coming of course, that’s why we keep saying “pre-Alpha”. :^)

You need to keep those amazing blocksparks you currently have in the game.

ah okay, now im confident this game will meet my expectations lol

Good to see Mike Z reading this thread, as I would expect.

So, I just wanted to throw out a critique that I haven’t seen much (though I haven’t read this full thread, so feel free to berate me for being lazy):

To me it seems like hitstop is reaaaally low in this game. The impacts of hits almost feel like Mortal Kombat. Which, to me, is a bad thing.

Is this something you’re planning on changing? Is it indeed lower than ‘usual’ in Japanese fighting games, or is it just the vids I’ve seen that somehow fail to convey the hitstop properly?

Really like the 1920s setting, very unique.

I’m really digging the smooth animations and the character designs.

Would anyone consider this game an ANIMU fighting game?

well it isn’t based on an animu so no

that said a lot of people do consider it one because they are silly-billies

having played this at season’s beatings i felt that the hitstop felt right, especially considering the heavy pre-tvc vs series influence i felt

i do however think that hit sounds are pretty bad and that is what is making all the difference, they lack any meat to them

This game looks great. Hopefully it’ll have a nice scene develop.

Anyone know where this is gonna be available for play testing next?

some more crap about the game

Weren’t there more characters shown on the site not too long ago? Anyone have an archive?

I’m assuming the “Coming Summer 2011” on the website is just an estimated date, and probably just a bullshit date overall considering 3/8 characters are known?

Hm, didn’t know they made the bursts unpunishable, thought one of the whole fancy gimmicks was that you could bait and punish them to supposedly add more depth to the combo system.

That now demo vid just made me love the game even more. That was an ill combo at the end of the vid bro. Good demo. Also; you got any more pieces of art to go along with that website? id like to whip up a fan piece

That game looks extremely fun. I’d sure like to get my hands on that BETA. Awesome little combo toward the end on that recent video.
