Hah, I’m a fighting game fan, which meant “if it was a fighting game, I played it, no matter how bad”. I dunno how many, but in addition to the mainstream ones, off the top of my head I played enough to know what was what in TMNT Tournament Fighter, Clayfighter 63 1/3 (a better version of KI2’s engine than KI2 had!), Weaponlord, Tobal 1+2, Toshinden, FX Fighter, SF:tM:tG, some awful Ranma game for SNES, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha something-or-other for PS, King of the Monsters, Rise of the Robots 1+2 (ugh!), MMPR (fun except for IVAN OOOOOOOOOOOOZE!), Garou, KI 1+2, OMF2097 and Battlegrounds, Psychic Force 2012, EFZ, and that secret mode in Megaman 7 where you can duel MM vs Bass.
What exactly do we know about strong training mode features aside from potentially being able to take control of your character during replays and an online training mode?
“mike-z-and-adam-ahad-talk-about-skullgirls.html” We pranked him fine, I guess. He finally fixed all the "Adam"s in the actual article, though.
Yeah, the PR overlords wanted us to cut that bit out, gomen ne. I’ll make up for it - I’ll send you a used pair of Real Soviet Shimapan. (^.~)
I’m just teasing. I know how working with PR people is from when I was doing game journalism. You get what you can, and you get to give even less. They’re just doing their jobs.
Real Soviet Shimapan, eh? It must make weak American tushies look more swollen than capitalist pig dogs…
this might have already been asked, but once you guys start releasing dlc characters, are you planning to release individual characters or packs of several?
great job on the game so far, i’ve been following all new info rabidly since the story on kotaku, and telling everyone i know who enjoys fg’s about it.
can’t wait to play this.
Wow, who would’ve thought other people had played that game. OMF2097 was my first fighting game ever, we had tons of good times dueling in that game with my friend! Glad to hear that has been an inspiration for Skullgirls.
Holy crap, somebody else actually did this. And let’s be fair. Rise 2 was a somewhat passable sequel to the first, haha.
Between this and loving OMF 2097 as an inspiration (Haters can go suck it and that game deserved an actual good sequel and not that Battlegrounds shit) I am seriously pleased right now.
Are u kidding me? GGAC? Lol i LOVE the GG series, and i love GGAC… but ur obviously not a Dizzy main, and u obviously havent played with dizzy vs ne good eddies or jams. To me, it sounds like ur talking out of ur ass and u dont have a clue of wut ur saying. There will never ever be a fighter where tier lists dont exist, with the exception of a ryu vs ryu game, where u can only play ryu vs ryu. I wouldnt want a totally perfectly balanced game either… tiers are good, BBCS2 has a pretty good tier list, pretty balanced. Theres only ONE S character, then theres A, B, and C tiers… much better than a game with SS chars and D chars. But a fighter without tier lists is impossible AND would be boring as hell
Uhh—no LuMalo. We’re not going back to that. Nice try though with ad hominems, but look at Mr. X’s posts and take tips. Not only does he know how to make cogent arguments, but his are the best I’ve heard in this debate. I’m also not here to prove that a well-balanced fighter with a diverse cast would still be a fun game. You’ll have to visualize it in your mind’s eye, simply because no such game exists—and that’s because none of the fighting game companies patch their game (at least in a way that make’s sense, i.e. listening to the top players) except NetherRealm. The examples of both Arcana Heart 3 and GG:AC will give you a glimpse of balanced far, even if they’re far from perfect. However, if you or anyone else can’t imagine a balanced version of one of your favorite fighters, that’s a failure of your imagination, not a failure of my argument.
Holy hell, these Psychic Force players are just popping up left and right, nowadays.
I really think Genshin is kind of what I wanted Parasoul to be, but I’ll be okay given the RC soldier. Psychic Force is kind of awesome in terms of really weird zoning archetypes, with trick shot/reflector characters (Emilio, Wong), Spiral-style satelllite + grappler characters (Gudeath), “affect the whole stage” characters (Wendy, Setsuna), etc. If you put in a Psychic-force reference fighter, I’ll push this game even more than I’m already pushing it.
Ancient obscure FG recommendation: Play Gundam Battle Assault 2 for PS1. It’s really deep and awesome despite being a licensed anime 2D fighter-- it’s got a magic series, proper zoning, DPs, a really cool anti-infinite system where you get automatic “bursts” at various points of your life bar, airdashes, lots of crazy shit.
Also, you didn’t mention Virtual On and that makes me sad.
