“$%&#-Yeah, Battletoads!”
Kill an opponent with Cerebella’s Running Headbutt.
Edit:
I actually like this one. Make a comeback in a 3v3 when you’re on your last character. “You’ve got the X-factor!” or something akin to that.

I CAN CONTROL IT!— Use the Infinite Detection burst 25 times
I like where this thread is going
Get Your Head in the Game!
-Tag out Ms. Fortune with her head still detached from her body.
Good achievement, but I doubt they can directly reference a trademarked franchise or a copyright. Call it “Is that a pimple or a rash?” instead.
Kinda cliche. How about “Bursting With Pride”?
Absolutely fantastic!
I like the idea of having an achievement for picking every character at least once in online matches. It “forces” casual players to experiment and dabble a little bit if they want their precious achievements. It also encourages the new players to shop around a little bit before they pick a main. Little incentives! This kind of very small thing could help to foster character variety in the online community. It might even spread into the offline community too! But I doubt it.
Competitive/tournament players (ie. we) are not harmed in any way for ignoring this achievement because they (ie. we) tend to not care about achievements anyway.
It’s win-win.
The easy, long, tedious, grind-y achievements for which you are all professing your intense, collective dislike are basically a marketing tool, by the way. A lot of general video game players like to buy games with achievements that they feel they will be able to earn, and developers are trying to keep people playing their game for as long as possible because you literally get peer-driven advertising exposure (which are statistically the most effective type of recommendation) right through people’s friends lists.
I think achievements like “win ten online ranked matches in a row” are the funniest shit ever. Realistically, maybe only the top 5th percentile of random online players will ever be able to earn that one without cheating. It’s a huge, giant “fuck you” to people whose video game pastime is farming achievements. Those kinds of players HATE when they buy a game and can’t get 100% completion. Like that’s a serious complaint they will lobby against a game. I’m always a little surprised when I see these kinds of achievements in a game at all because adding that tiny amount of “hardcore” will draw in so few players as compared to how many you risk alienating with that same move. Regardless of the rest of the game’s design, that one, tiny, insignificant and ultimately worthless achievement helps to set a tone for what the developers want (ie. hope to see) out of their game’s playerbase: if you don’t want to get good at this, we don’t want you here. That’s a pretty big wow to me when you’re out to make $$$MONEY$$$, which all commercial developers certainly are.
You know at some point there was probably a serious meeting at the Microsoft Xbox office about whether or not online-exclusive achievements should exist at all, because it means you cannot possibly earn 100% without an internet connection. Our modern world is oftentimes an extremely silly place.
I think the Xbox phrase “gamer score” is easily within the top 10 lamest things I’ve ever heard ever. And I hate PS3 trophies because that shit pops up OVER THE PLAYER 2 LIFE BAR while you’re in the middle of a match. I don’t care that I earned your dumb shit! I am trying to beat this dude!!! Hahaha.
I hope that–while they’ve been so uncompromisingly awesome about so many other aspects of their game–with this one thing, the Skullgirls developers just go all melted processed cheese and fill their game with retarded achievements that will help them sell as many copies as possible.
Two types of achievements I want to see. 1, achievements that make people who don’t know how to play the game learn. 2, achievements that commemorate awesome events that make crowds go nuts.
That being said, here are some random ideas
We Just Got a Real Match! - Win a match after being reduced to 10% life or less while your opponent is still at 90% life or more. (flexible numbers of course, perhaps 15 and 85)
Baited - Avoid or block an infinity burst and score another hit or throw immediately afterward.
Mike Z Hates That Meme You Know - Land each of Cerebella’s command grabs in a match.
Day 1 Nerf - In a 1V3, kill all three characters with a single combo
Anything You Can Do - Win a mirror match
(here’s a personal one based on how the joke got started)
Sparkly Flying Pony - Complete every tutorial, every challenge, and every character’s single-player mode
or perhaps, complete a tutorial the game suggested for you
Are You OK? - Kill a character while they are in a red spark combo
Good Game Design - Block a high-low attack at the same time
Wombo Combo! - Spend five levels of meter in one combo and kill a character while doing so
High Sodium Diet - Get ragequit on
Happy Birthday - Kill a point character and an assist character at the same time
It’s SkahlGirls Baybeee! - Land a DHCed super after your opponent responds to your original super with a super
F*ck the Nicks (Get It?) - Win via chip damage
MUGEN - Win a triple random on random match
Mmm Whatcha Say? - Use all of Peacock’s gun specials in a single combo (in a match)
Comeback Mechanic - Gain more meter than your opponent when being hit by a combo
This Taste… Is the Taste of a Baller! - Kill every character on a team (or a single character twice in a 1v1) with Cerebella’s ShowStopper
STOP MASHING! - (a 0 point achievement if you can make it) Lose a match without ever blocking
In fact if you can do 0 point achievements there are a bunch I could think of that are like PSAs
Tech That Throw - 0 points, get thrown 10 times in one match
Learn a Bread and Butter - 0 points, perform no combos over 3 hits in a match (or like, three button pushes or something cause some supers do more than 3 hits alone)
I’ll think of more later

Snapback Mountain - Snap in the same character twice
What a Crybaby! - Detonate 3 tears in one Parasoul combo
Actually, some of those aren’t too bad![/SIZE]
Yep. I’m loving these.
Something like use that whole put what happened in a replay as a recording in training mode thing x number of times or with x number of characters. I know I put it so succinctly.
But I’d like something along the lines of that. Trophies that reward you for using the training modes and that highlight what the game is bringing to the table in terms of trying to teach new players.
**X-Girls vs. Street Harpies **
I just have a few requests.
What would be even better is if you could toggle it on and off as an option.
Emergant Gameplay- Have six ants on screen at once.
Or some kind of Ant-based achievement!
Hahha I almost want there to be achivements based off of the popular SRK Skullgirls Posters
Hell From Above - Win five matches with a peacock item drop
Jet Set Dizzy - Land a combo that involves a throw after a stagger
Master Chibi - Get a perfect in a 1v3 with Umbrella
and here are some other suggestions
Behold The Power of Cheese - Win a match using nothing but projectiles
Do You Believe In… - Beat someone ranked in the top ten percent of players in an online match
Excellent Adventures - Spend 10 hours in online play
Assist Me! - Land a combo of over 20 hits with an assist somewhere in the middle
Old School - Win a 1v1 match without using combos or meter
I Know Kung Fu - Win your first match demonstration in tutorial mode
RickRoll’d - Win a match (never gonna give you up), with an air combo of over 10 hits (never gonna let you down), without switching sides with the opponent (never gonna run around), and without hitting the opponent for any other reason (or hurt you).
Line Management - Defeat everyone in a lobby of max size
I Got Next! - Defeat someone in a lobby of max size who is on a 10+ win streak
Focus! - Win a match with a super-armor attack
Fake Czechoslovakian Damage - Win a match with a Cerebella command grab assist
Ha ha, I love these!
My Life is an RPG - Preform Cerebella’s Command Run 100 times
:3
I just saw the achievements/trophies thread on the Skullgirls facebook and it was horrifying. It seems like they’re terrified of playing online, ever.
I think my favorite set of achievements in a fightman game so far is the HDR set. I really like achievements that encourage online play and playing lots of characters. The very best achievements are the ones you can actually be proud of. I’m thinking like, C to shining C in SSF4, completing trials, Evo Moment #37 in 3S (although that wasn’t an achievement specifically). I was pretty disappointed with Tekken 6’s, since most of the points came from just hurfing through the story mode.
I also like achievements that are funny jokes/references. like Doom II’s on XBL. I’m seconding the Battletoads reference achievement. And EmergANT Gameplay!
I also want to see achievements highlighting Skullgirls’ unique features. Like ah, achievements for winning with all of the different team sizes, forcing someone to burst (or bursting yourself), doing an air alpha counter, and using custom assists.
XBLA games are pretty much set at 12 achievements for 200 points, right? No flexibility?
edit: if you Reverge guys put in a CAT DRUGS achievement/namedrop, I will literally send you CAT DRUGS for your CATS courtesy of montanacatnip dot com.
I have a few ideas, and something with REAL SOVIET DAMAGE is a must.
REAL SOVIET DAMAGE! - Defeat a character with over 50% life with one throw. (Adjust % as necessary for Solo Cere vs. trio team, could work with Peacock’s Level 3, too)
Some Days You Just Can’t Get Rid of a Bomb [edit length as necessary] - Damage one of your own characters with Peacock’s Lenny super
Blitz-Krieg - Set 10 tears in one match with Parasoul
Head Cheerleader - Tag out Ms. Fortune while her head is separated from her body
Snap! Crackle! Pop! - Defeat a character within 5 seconds of snapping them in.
Planewheel - Hit your opponent with Painwheel X times in a row without touching the ground.
If you’re going to do extra trophies bundled with DLC, a la BBCS, I say throw this in after your second or third Male Character:
Fightman Game: INJURY MAXIMUM! - Play a match with no female characters on either team.
Havent read this whole topic yet so sorry if any of these are recycled
A head of the game - Win a match using only Ms. Fortune’s head (or just finish a match using her detached head if the former is deemed too hard)
Just getting started! - Perform your first 10+ hit combo
The Cold Shoulder/Well Excuuuuse Me Princess - Dismiss a soldier 5 times in a match with Parasoul
