I like the achievements that encourage me to explore modes of the game other than Vs. and Online, something that would reward me for unlocking all of the varying endings in story mode or completing all of the tutorials should be a given.
I’d also like to stray away from achievements that rewarded “win streaks” online and push more towards specific achievements within the match itself. I’d say the former does more to encourage ragequitting to maintain a streak and the latter gets more to the core of what you want to encourage, stronger play.
Examples? -Ending in Style
SF or Marvel would give an achievement for using X number of Super moves, Skullgirls should give an achievement for using X number of super moves in a* combo*.
-Run That Back!
I know MikeZ was talking about a feature where one could go into a replay and take control of your character again at any point, an example of a good achievement opportunity here would be taking control of your character in a situation where you find a way to block a string that you had originally been hit by.
Seriously though, what’s your limitation with Achievements Rav? Is it like most DLC titles that can only have 200 points / No Platinum Trophies or do you guys get a little more leg room? If you have a bigger allowance you could have much more freedom with some small and fun achievements.
Personally I hate grindy achievements and “milestone” achievements apart from Finishing the Game. Watch the credits or load up the game can be funny though. Things that you actually have to work at, or things you can get unintentionally are always nice… you know: “Achievements” not gold star stickers or participation recognition.
EDIT: Also, you have to work a Real Soviet Damage achievement in there somehow, doesn’t matter what it is. Just to tease Mike and please the fans
Serial Flasher – Perform Cerebella’s (whatever the move is where she grabs them by the ankle and holds them upside down) 5 times in one match.
Ants Marching – Have five ants on screen at once (Peacock’s ant burning move) (I realized Kayame actually came up with this, so credit goes to him)
He Fall Down, Go BOOM! – KO an opponent with Lenny
A Head Above the Rest – Detach and reattach Miss Fortune’s head in the same combo
St Valentine’s Day Massacre – Defeat Valentine on normal or above without taking damage
Hail Marie – Defeat Marie the Skullgirl on the hardest difficulty
Achievements I hate: stuff that requires grinding out things that aren’t difficult, just tedious.
Achievements I like: where you have to do interesting/clever things that can get you to understand the game/engine better.
Damnit! I was a lick too late on suggesting that, hmm… how about… maybe one for not blocking, one for not using any meter. One for performing a 100 hit combo in a match. I’m not very good at this, everyone has these great names and catchy titles and ideas
Time consuming achievements like grinding to a certain level online and etc are pretty annoying.
Blazblue does a good job in the achievement department. They’re mostly related to the story and to making specific neat tricks with certain characters - like keeping a character in the air for multiple seconds with Hazama, floating around for 25 seconds with Rachel, etc.
Also, could you please give us a platinum trophy/1000g total achievement points? I know these are just meaningless medals, but still, grinding out a game for hours to earn a couple of bronze trophies / 10g achievements just feels wrong. Plus, it’ll be a reason for trophy whores to buy the game
Came here to say that
Make it winning a match with solo Cerebella by doing a command grab super or something.
I think it would be cool if there were a few based on palette color choice. Maybe if you picked a team that was all the same color, or all reference pallets from the same game, etc.
