Skullgirls PC Port

If I’m not mistaken, Steam only puts games up for pre-order when it’s already on their servers.

Thats not true, Torchlight 2 was in preorder on June when even the developers didnt have a solid date and It was launched yesterday and Company of Heroes 2 is in pre order since yesterday with a release date “2013”, Steam its a very random for preorders, Jet Set Radio for example did not have one.

The date “October” in Gamersgate and Gamefly is only a placeholder, Mike confirmed this in the other thread.

October its a good month if they release the console patch first but at this point we dont know the status of the patch yet

I preordered Torchlight 2 on April 28th 2012 on steam. 5months before the game came out. :stuck_out_tongue:

But the beta for TL2 started around the end of april so at least that version was already on the steam servers at that point…

But i actually came here to discuss marketing and draw your attention to steams new preorder reward system (as seen here). It might be a nice way to drive some preorders (in case you have a TF2 item or a color palette pack to spare). I thought it could help getting money to the artists earlier to make them work on a dlc character faster. Or do you guys have to go through greenlight first anyway?

Other thing is it might be wise to get a prerelease build to Youtubers like TB for his “WTF is” seriesand mike or one of the beta testers to commentate or for an interview. You would get easy exposure to around 150.000-200.000 people who probably never hearrd about this title yet… But i’m pretty sure TB will do an episode about SG anyway once it hits steam. Advantage with commentary would be you could work out the clichees that might come up and also sell it better to the crowd by focusing on the beginner friendlynes of SG. Also emphatizing that it is a patched version with a lot of improvements over the original console release wouldn’t be a bad idea. And even with the title being too hardcore for most casuals you could at least prevent these guys from badmouthing the game too much… (TB is a brit tho, so i guess it would be a real endurance test for GGPO in case of demonstration matches)

Since i’m already here i’ve got to ask about two things: Will the PC version have any kind of modability (even if it’s just cosmetic) or is that just not possible due the architecture (of the engine). I don’t expect full modding support including tools etc but maybe something that prevents 2 incompatabile versions running into each other in online matchmaking?

The other point i wonder about is if you already settled on a price point IN OTHER CURRENCIES THAN US-DOLLARS… Don’t get me wrong, i would really like to give you my money for this game, but i hate to be discriminated against just because of my locality … so please don’t make the mistake of applying 1:1 currency exchange rates for the european prices. (Unfortunately i can’t see the USD price on Gamersgate, but it’s ~14€ on my end which would mean ~18$…)

//Edit:Oh and btw: borderless-fullscreen-window mode with an scaling fuction besides the resolution option plz~

@jinsaotomex3: Ya, tbh TB doesn’t seem like a fighting game person at all, but then again it might be worth a shot. Also declining requests from viewers for Minecraft-Clone XYZ or hobby developed 8Bit-Plattformer 123 is somewhat a whole diffrent story than a studio providing a (pre)release version

Dodger actually really likes Skullgirls and was playing it recently with Jesse (she was also super excited about it when it first came out). I don’t think TB cares too much about it to be honest and he’s mentioned that he doesn’t really do requests but you’re right in that he might do it anyway.

I’m better than all those losers. Give it to me!

I really think that the port is over and they only need to add the patch because the only thing remain in the patch right now are the localization files which Ravidrarth and Konami are fixing.

I hope when they give the patch to Microsoft and Sony we can have a release date for the port.

Wait… how do you know " they only need to add the loc. files" ? o_o source please

Said by Ravidrath on Neogaf:

“Most of the programming and tech bugs seem to be out of the way now, so I’m mostly cleaning up localization bugs now that Konami’s beating on the FIGS versions. There are lot of those, since we added all-new character tutorials and completely relocalized the FIGS tutorials so they aren’t unfollowable gibberish any more.”

Maybe there are some programming bugs left but mostly he and Konami are fixing the localization bugs for the French, Italian, German and Spanish (FIGS) languages.

The patch for consoles if there is not more problems, for sure It will come on October so likely the PC port will come at the end of that month or November.

Except it didn’t. The TL2 beta started on May 18th

Edit:

Also the Beta wasn’t run through Steam. It required you to download an installer from the Runic webpage.

Well Sorry but I will forget Skullgirls port because of this.

Whatever happened to Skull Girls coming out on Steam?
"It’s still being worked on, but has been delayed for the same reasons the patch was.

We’re hoping to get it out this year, but we can’t promise anything… we’re always running into unforeseen circumstances, some of which will be made clear when the patch hits."

I was waiting the port at the end of this month or next because the patch is almost done but now they dont know even if the port will come out this year…

Y SO PESSIMISTIC?! O_o

‘It’s still being worked on’ is the best part worth bolding actually.

That is really, really unfortunate. Such a great opportunity squandered. But yeah… I’m out.

Take it easy, guys. It’s not the end of the world.
And you can play other games meanwhile, you know.

I’m waiting for the PC port entire year. Can’t see any problems until the port is canceled. And it’s not canceled so I’m cool.

I’m so glad I didn’t enter this thread earlier.

I hope in the future I can serve this thread to some of you with a slice of humble pie.

They aren’t promising because if it doesn’t come out until next year, then people get upset. They aren’t going to be announcing even estimated times anymore until they have concrete things. Think about it; we’ve been told that testing takes a minimum of 4~ weeks, right? So, say they finish loc testing today, the patch won’t come out until the end of october/beginning of november. Which means, assuming that they want to watch it for a moment to see if people are interested (that’s been established, that Autumn or Reverge, whoever, wants to see interest before continuing), that they will, at very earliest, start mid November. That means, in order to have it out this year (pretending people don’t get any time off for holidays, I’m not sure if they work then), they need to finish the patch in 45 days. With the small team, one person working on the port, you can probably expect the port sometime between early December and late January. You know… god willing… there are no more road blocks.

Are you seriously going to quit the game altogether because this delay, one that everyone has to suffer through? So, like, a few months from now when the patch and the port and dlc is all out, are you going to be elsewhere?

Just chill out. I’m anxious to get the game too, but I prefer that they take the time they need to do everything right. I prefer to wait some months for a quality game I’ll be playing the next 10 years instead of having a rushed product I’ll soon forget.

Idk why but I will probably buy the PC port. If I do, they will have made $45 from me since i bought both console versions :o

The money I’ve put into this game is starting to get a bit silly. I’ve got both versions and the OST (with a failed attempt to buy t-shirts thanks to my country), I’ll surely be buying the PC version and will then have to pick myself up a PS3 when it gets released here in Japan. €15 game suddenly became €400  (God my epeen is so powerful)
