If it was out for the PC, I wouldn’t be wasting my time typing this message.
At this point we can assume that the PC port will not com from here to August 15.
Reverge Labs is very silent, the last news about the game is “patch almost done” in July 9.
Q_Q dem skullgirls.
On the Steam client go to your settings and on the Account tab make sure you don’t have “Don’t save account credentials on this computer” checked. Later if you try to launch Steam with no internet connection it will try to connect for a while then it will ask you if you want to enter in offline mode.
It’s such a turnoff that it’s not yet out on PC. My Ps3 was broken so I was going to buy it on PC been waiting for a while now and it’s still not out. Other games have been announced so I’ll just invest time there. I really wanted to give this game a chance…
And if they actually communicated but I have heard nothing and every week I’ve been looking for news on skullgirls for pc.
Damn, guess I’ve prepared my body for PC version a bit too early
I think I’m just gonna buy it because it does look like a good game. They really need to communicate more tho.
Seriously, this no communication policy they have running right now is just flat out bad marketing. The silly fanart and other random tweets were at least fueling the hype a little, but the current silence is just annoying…
Just wait it out. We had to deal with similar lulls around late Summer last year too.
I’ve been in training mode since last night. It’s a beautiful game and really well made. I’d love to see this at evo. They really should pay it more attention and all players want is communication.
The problem are the preorders, two months with that in the digital stores without any information and the date they gave expires in a month, Torchlight 2 has the same date “Summer 2012” but they answer in their twitter account a lot of questions.
You should click ‘Report’ on such posts, not ‘Reply’, mah friend =O
Look I can’t tell you anything because I’m not an employee of the company and the people I emailed haven’t emailed me back yet.
I can’t people from being impatient or dissatisfied either but there’s little I can do to alleviate it.
The only way I can deal with this in the meantime is by playing more P4A. lol
Suppressing concerns of people not yet involved instead of addressing them is the exact opposite of what the company and the hardcore community should do in order to make an indie game successful.
Don’t get me wrong, i have preordered SG back in mid July on gamersgate, i am going to wait as much as necessary and i am going to enjoy it, however i also really really want for this game to be successful. It is the first legit pc fighting game port as far as i am concerned and it might pave the way for others, however the way it gets marketed right now is excruciating to watch. And people don’t need a lot, just throw in a small candy once a day, like tweet some SG related youtube video, status update or a small contest with a little publicity as a prize, it is all tried and tested and it keeps the spark going.
That is just my feedback in regard to marketing of the pc port. I hope i am not the only one thinking this way.
OK. Seems that you are a sane person after all. I hereby apologizing for reporting you T_T
Anyways. The thing is that Reverge is and always was really open towards us, their fans, in all cases but one: when they were strictly prohibited to say something or the things weren’t decided yet. Which means that currently there isn’t any information about neither patch nor PC port. I don’t know a thing about preorders because Reverge weren’t commenting on them ever since they were opened up. Because such things clearly aren’t depends on developer. You can tell so by the fact that there wasn’t exact date on preorders. So. That means that resellers actually opened them for game which wasn’t finished yet. Which IMO is pretty stupid thing to do. So if you want to blame someone it should be reseller and/or publisher, not developer.
That being said in situations like this devs does not know more than customers actually. Because the moment they’ll receive some information it’ll become open anyways.
And it seems that you’re strictly PC player and wasn’t following this game before release. Let me assure you - reverge were super open with everything that was actually depends on them such as gameplay features and balance issues. But when it comes to actual marketing and stuff - they can’t say anything because such processes does not depends on them at all. It was the reason that I was offended by your post (and I once more apologize). And there are some hints that currently some drama may or may not be occurring with SG marketing so it seems that solid dates still weren’t established yet. Either way it’s not that someone deliberately hiding details from us. It’s more like there still isn’t much to say. And they won’t tell us why there are no dates yet because that’s how business works… >_>
Which is pretty sad but right now can’t be helped.
This is actually untrue and reporting every person that is not sane is highly offensive.
Joking aside, what you have just said was unknown to me and to tons of other pc gamers. There are several things i have to say:
The problem was never of when it would be released, or even how the progress is coming along, as long as it gets released at some point. The problem is the current lack of effort to produce hype, to make people crave for this game. People will like the game as long as it is good, but creating a huge pool of people who want to try this game out is, more often than not, a one time thing.
Second, “can’t be helped”? I’m going to twitter right now to create a fan page for SG pc release and if i reignite 5 people waiting for it, that is more than SG guys did in past several weeks as far as i am concerned.
I just finished playing SG, did I do something for it?
Hmm, so your point was actually lack of promotion? OK, I understand you. But that drama (that may or may not be going on behind the curtains) capable of moving release date later this year. Which will probably screw up potential customers. They already were promoting console release but then release date was moved couple of times and people were pretty upset about it because of all that hype. If They decided to not go with promo campaign before PC version will get solid release date I certainly can agree with that. Look at it this way: if game is already released you totally can go and start suggest it to people, right? But If nothing is known yet (as it is right now) you’ll get some person hyped and he’ll be like:
“Okay, game looks dope. Can I play it?”
“No, it isn’t out yet”
“Umm… And when it will be out?”
“Nobody knows actually”
“That’s lame. I’d better go and play my Awesome Shooter 18 instead”
This is actually becoming a petty argument. Although i would absolutely agree with a big campaign right before release, spreading awareness even before that is also necessary, lest there would not be much more than the existing community to promote the game to.
I completely disagree with the point of “suggesting people” after the release, statistics show that vast majority of successful games sell best on the first month and after major cuts in price (e.g. steam sales). It is the same point, awareness, whether people keep on playing or not though, is up to game quality.
There are also several examples of other indie games just actively communicating with community, whether it is not productive at all or just repeating the same thing over and over, i am talking about Path of Exile and Torchlight 2 here, and they are freaking popular and desired, even though they both have their deadlines postponed by A LOT.
My point, i guess, is that negative publicity is better than no publicity any day. After all, in the end only the quality of the game matters. Look at Blizzard, a crapton of people still love them after they are late 5 years with their games.
