Oh boy I missed this quote. Yeah, no. You never played chess.
What’s everyone’s favorite theme?
Mine has to go to Medici Tower, the start is meh, but when it gets into it, IT GETS INTO IT.
There isn’t a better analogy than chess.
Compare a queen to a pawn. The queen is obviously superior, it can move in all directions as far as it wishes, while the pawn can only move blindly forward. While there is an obvious power gap, Pokemon, like chess, is about what you do with ALL the pieces you have. Prediction, careful planing, and synergy are essential in high-end chess play and the same goes for Pokemon. There is no 1 way to play chess and there is no 100% winning strategy. Each Pokemon has a: Type, Stat Spread, Move set, and Ability. This is why a Parasect can defeat a Specs. Kyogre. You can assemble a team of 6 pokemon out of the 649, and with a little know how, you can make it work. You won’t win every battle, just as you won’t win every game of chess you play, but you would hardly call chess a party game because the queen is a 8-2 matchup against a pawn.
And yes, I have played chess. (And am quite good at it as well…) If you would like to play a game, hit me up. ;^)
I…Can’t tell if serious.
Themes, I like Little Innsmouth and the… Training room? Or is it classroom?
Also, word of the wise, DO NOT help others in Pokemon for competitive gameplay- some kid with a Gardevior needed a thunderbolt, just to later end up being my opponent and pwning my Latios.
Lol, I know. I sound a little crazy, but I am serious. Unfortunately, it’s a bit difficult to explain Pokemon to someone who’s never played.
Medici Tower would be mine as well, with ASG Labs a close second.
I don’t even know why I like ASG Labs so much…it’s just cool
NEW MERIDIAN PIANO SOLO YEAAAAAAAAAH
Maple Crest theme and whatever the theme that played in Cerebella’s trailer. <3
You mean this lovely song?

Pokemon is like Risk not Chess with all the randumb factors it has.
No, I’ve played Pokemon, competively, I stopped before the B and W generation.
It’s nothing like Chess.
In chess, you know you’re opponent’s pieces, and from the start the millions of strategies, in Pokemon, you have no idea what your opponent has until he brings it out.
In pokemon, there are tiers of specific play where only certain pokemon can exist. Chess has no such tier.
With pokemon, you are locked into the strategy you give yourself with your team, while Chess is a game of CONSTANT adaption, Pokemon is more about setting up before your opponent.
I’ve beaten plenty of people that have set up before I could, simply because while they were going for the setup, such as six pawn opening, I was going for their king.
And last but not least, Pokemon and Chess have different goals. Pokemon is about bringing your opponent’s monster to zero. Chess is about putting your opponent’s king in checkmate.
Checkmate me putting you in a position of helplessness. Defeating your opponent’s pokemon requires you to bring it’s hp to zero.
Pokemon is more about playing the game, because there are vastly different pieces and almost infinite combination.
Chess is more about playing your opponent, because unlike pokemon, everyone has the same pieces, and the same amount of pieces.

What the FUCK? Can you please… just… stop?
Pokemon is like uno
Oh shnap, why didn’t I notice that before? LOL.
you sir have made my musical life x10 better.
Hey is Vice Versa sentient like Samson? Anybody have a clue?
Does anyone have the song that plays in Filia’s trailer?
I could tell the person playing the piano in the song was like “It’s a shame this trailer is about to end, BECAUSE IM ABOUT TO GET MOTHERFUCKING HYPE ON DESE KEYS”
Can Vice Versa even talk?
All valid points, except that you can see your opponents’ pokemon before you battle and arrange yours accordingly. Perhaps I was a bit vague, I’ll agree that Pokemon is not chess, but it is *like *chess. (Which I believe I’ve been saying the entire time…) When playing against a competent opponent, all the same skills that chess requires you to master, such as: Synergy, Ingenuity, Perception, and Prediction all apply to any good Pokemon match. The objective of Pokemon is not the same as chess, they are literally two different games, but you use the same skills in a similar fasion. Of course, if you’re playing against someone unfamiliar, then you’re going to mop the floor with them, but that does not make the game itself unsuitable for competitive play.
Does it eat? Does it poop?
