Keep mashing.
I thought it was tomorrow…
Speaking of tomorrow, WNF~
Also wow I go to bed because it’s like midnight or somethin’ like that and I wake up to find that I missed 2 pages of discussion.
Actually, Ravid said the video would be up in the “first half” of this week. So we’re not even sure whether it’s coming out today or tomorrow.
You gotta hit all the buttons
I’m willing to bet tomorrow AT LATEST, it’s still the first half of the week?
[S]wow I’m low-tier and bad luck lol[/S]
I can’t get the release date! I need to mash F5 harder!
Early this week sounds familiar
This timeless feminist junk again… no matter how women are portrayed, they will find a way to bitch about it, its weird because I’ve never heard a man say “its ridiculous how they objectify us with these musclebound underwear models”. You wont ever hear a man say that either, because we dont give a fuck how we look, but back on topic now.
No sexuality never takes away from a characters depth or complexity, making a character male or female horrendously ugly does though, why you ask? Because beauty is expected these days in our media, when you throw a monkey wrench in that people tend to care less about the character that broke the norm. Can anyone name me a current day sitcom that has a fuck ugly character in it? Like hideous motherfucker, not ricky gervais cause that dudes handsome in a weird fucking way? This isnt a male problem, women dont like seeing ugly men on tv any more then we like seeing women who look like our sister in laws. Its just human fucking nature, it doesnt make anyone any less of a human being, it just makes those of us that admit it more cock sure.
If anything a all female fighting game is showing that women can be just as bad ass and cool as men, without needing men their at all, something that almost no video game does. Fighting games are one of the only mediums that depict women as anything other then people needing to be saved or burdens. A game thats completely based on female characters or has a female only lead character is something not done enough, women should be happy when it does happen.
You could argue all women in video games are overly sexualized but you could say the same for men in games as well, its actually interesting to look at games from different countries and see the differences in the sexualization of male and female characters. In american games men are almost always overly muscular or rough and manly, the woman almost always with huge busts and skimpy outfits. In japan the men are almost always more slender and usually have soft features, the women are always petite ( sometimes to very childlike proportions, the most recent and semi creepy example I can think of is Serah from FF XIII, its even more awkward because her fiancee snow is a huge dude ). This is just another example of what people want, its universal.
I respect women to the utmost degree, but I think this shit has got to stop.
At the end of the day women have to realize something, men are objectified just as much as you are, the difference is we stay quiet about it.
Could you imagine the development for SG if they had to buy into this crap? " oh yeah lets do a all female fighting game" "awesome idea " “yeah well to not objectify women lets make them plain and ordinary, small busts, slim waists, boring back stories the whole 9 yards " " fuck off”.
I thought button mashing was a bad strategy. P:
Gotta say I’m curious, though. If it’s going up on Machinima, I mean… well, it’s gotta be big!
Valentine walk through or last character reveal!
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I hope for the last reveal…
I need this game!
We need to scale how early the video is coming out and convert it to the year then we’ll know when the game is coming out since both says early week/year.
Le Duc fights with lighting and since lighting effects were added he’ll be early DLC.
My Logic never fails.
Nope, the first DLC characters were confirmed to be Squigly and Umbrella.
Early DLC not first.
I hope the LeDuc thing is true though and yes, someone get on the math for calculations~!! o/
I want zombie pirate chick o-O
Val’s snapback uses lightning effects. You’re logic is fail.
Your* logic is failure*.
The problem is not with skullgirls but with the industry as a whole. The status quo of the industry is to pander to the white male audience that all game devs think they are making games for (despite evidence showing more and more non-white males playing games). Skull girls isn’t this huge sexist problem, it’s just status quo, which I think disappointed people when they heard about an american made all girl fighting game. There are much worse examples of this male gaze pandering in the industry.
And you know what? It’s ok to like these games and still be progressive. Criticizing a game for it’s problematic aspects does not mean you don’t like the game. Some of the things I love most have lots of problematic issues that I point out, doesn’t mean I don’t love these things any less. In fact I just want them to be better.
Oh god… really?
“You don’t hear men complaining” Please, please, please try and understand where you and others are coming from before you write stuff off as “feminist junk”.
You are coming from a place of privilege. Male privilege is a very real and present thing. It’s not *bad *to have privilege, it’s not something one needs to get defensive about, but it is something you should acknowledged.
The body types of women shown in the video game media as a whole are almost always sexual, while body types for men (although often sexual in different ways) are vastly more varying. Street fighter is the perfect example. For men you have: Big and muscly, tall an lanky, short and wirey, fat, mr. universe style triangle figure, and so on. For women you have: hourglass, child.
This sort of thing tells women “This is the body type that is normal for you, if you don’t look like this you are not normal and therefore ugly”.
Skullgirls also shows this, cerebella is grappler character, the character most commonly shown as having large muscles and big arms etc. Cerebella however has the same hourglass figure but instead has the hat for the big arms. While it’s a cool design it is problematic. It basically shows that women can’t be strong and muscley, they need help to do the same things say Zangeif could do.
Please everyone also understand that the “These characters are sexy **and **strong therefore it’s not problematic” holds absolutely ***zero ***water in this arguments. Fictional characters made by men for the male gaze can’t have agency. They are not making these choices themselves. I believe even Alex Ahad has attested to this.
I like the art for skullgirls. I love how the game is turning out in all of it’s aspects. But that doesn’t mean it presents problems and that people aren’t aloud to point them out.
Skullgirls: Burqa Edition
So all you people can shut the fuck up
