one problem i had playing against filia… which may not be filia specific but sure was giving me trouble (i was painwheel) was my filia opponent was in the habit of doing cr.lpx2,cr.mk,st.hk xx hairball xx gregor samson (super)

the problem was that after the blocked cr.mk and after pretty much every move after that there is a throw/frametrap. for instance my opponent does cr.lpx2,cr.mk and its blocked…i see how horribly laggy that is and of course try to punish… then i get hit by frame trap st.hk. lets say that i got that st.hk frame trap scouted and say fuck this im going to block… well i get thrown… but if my opponent didnt throw and i block, well now i can attack right? that st.hk is really bad on bloc and its quite obvious, so i get a free punish there right? nope cancel into hairball is also a frametrap if done late,… ok so fuck it, i see all those frme traps and make it through 2 VERY obvious places where i should be able to punish, ok so after the blocked hairball i DEFINITELY can punish right? nope, frame trap with samson … the thing is that all those moves can be delayed IN THE EXTREME where they will beat any non invincible retaliation, yet if you anticipate a very slow frame trap, you get thrown. you only get a guaranteed punish by guessing correctly all the way up to the blocked super.

basically it feels like scrubby captain america frame traps only there are 3 places to get screwed instead of 1 and in each of those 3 places there is a very legitimate throw threat because of how long you have to not attack in order to not get frame trapped.

it got so bad to where i just was pushblocking her as it was way to risky to try and throwbreak or stick out a jab punish that would be trapped.

So curious on the community’s opinion of who the best character is? As in overall most vestile, most options, able to respond to most things, etc. i.e. A Dante or Zero (MvC3) like figure? I’ll post my opinion later tonight in detail.

lol tbqh though im right now convinced of the “tiers” being super highly compressed to every character being A. seriously. i think in this game it will be teams that are tiered. that having been said i still think that as the game goes on that val and MF will be 2 of the top characters, val has so much movement that there isnt anything she really cant handle in neutral, MF’s head is well damn near broken in my mind. i definitely think mf is ridic, and painwheel flies around near untouchable like storm, but has REAL SOVIET DAMAGE and resets that will make your soul weep. but then double has catelites, st.fp xx hornet bomber xx catelites, hornet bomber assist, a good loop, a safe on block super that gives her momentum, but then parasoul has easy 50/50 high/low with any lock down assist plus good zoning and pillar assist, filia has a mad oppressive instant airdash j.hp that can be mixed with different airdash normals, gives left/right mixups AND high/low mixups, plus she has a run for mixing up her airdash with. cere is a great assist character having many options such as an AA assist, an invulnerable armor assist or a lockdown assist plus ridiculous damage, peacock has like no holes when run with the right team.

seriously more than “who da best” i think the most pertinent question here is who da best for you personally and what is the best team for that character and yourself. seems obvious but people that are used to being able to just pick top tier may not like this game as there really is no clearcut top imho, i believe differences in skill REALLY matters in this game which is why i like it so much.

I don’t see one yet. Everyone has their own key strengths and key weaknesses that they can overcome through with an assist or player ability.

I’m getting annoyed with how difficult it is to set Cerebella’s AA grab as an assist. I want to do some experimentation with it but it never registers. I heard you need to precise to make it work but I’ve had no luck. I feel it could up combo possibilities in the same vein as Napalm Pillar

You mean you’re literally having problems inputting the assist at the character select screen?

Yup, as crazy as it sounds. I usually get Diamond Drop or c.lk when I input the Execellabella command.

So I finally got to sit down and play a pretty good MF today! God damn that head gets you on lock down. He plays the way I think MF should be playing, keeping the head on till you get that hit confirm and corner carry, then spiking setting up a long beefy combos. Well, maybe not beefy but it’s a pretty long combo for good damage. Instant Air Dash j.mk (thats the double kick ya?) Kept screwing me up lol. Every time I was hoping she would land for some reason after the first kick. Also props to him for using LP George assist, that is one I firmly believe in these days. It’s REALLY annoying and pretty good to keep pressure on in general. Got my Parasoul winning palette too, woot! She’s pretty damn fun, but damn it can’t combo consistently with her at all lol.

Also, I am backing up Solo Filia now. I used to not fear her unless she had meter, but after seeing Mike Z’s video, and actually playing against a guy who was using her similar to that… She’s all over the place, its intense x.x.

TL;lDR: MF is soooooo good and don’t don’t don’t don’t sleep on Filia. When it happens you’ll know.

Although IMHO her game seems to suffer a good bit when used in teams, she does have a LOT of options.

Also to add to the Ms. Fortune experience, I honestly think taking cheap shots at the head is worth it, sweeps if you can too. You literally need to treat that thing like an assist and punish it when you can x.x.

Didn’t work. Kept getting diamond drop. I tried other commands like double QCF, and still can’t register that damn move as an assist.

Try mashing into down forward like a mental case.

Ok…now I know what you guys are screwing up on with the AA throw assist.

You must end the last direction on the df motion. Basically make sure you hit :df: as your last motion. If you do :f: :d: :df: :f: the game will not register the command. Make sure the little light blue ball is in the :df: direction when pressing LP+LK.

that literally should have been the second thing to try.

I just played some dude who was using Filia/Parasoul and all I gotta say is “Hahahahahahahahaha.” Holy shit, what kind of asshole makes a game where you can roll a 2 man team of Magneto with random Dante normals and Psylocke and WW Guile’s baby daughter?
