Skullgirls Gameplay Discussion Thanks For Playing

Except you can only ever do one rep now. From LP rekkas and head you can only link s.LP and c.LP. Anything else is too slow.

Add to that IPS change and you have, oh, ONE loop.

Might as well do MP rekkas negative edging HP after the second one. You get enough frame advantage for a medium to link, with none of the timing required for the LP rekkas.

Thoth’s bnb does like half life 1v1 anyways, holy shit, it takes absolutely no effort.

Man, even I’m starting to think she does too much damage.

Laughable at how bad the commentary is, they don’t know anything about the game, I mean anything, gender of some characters, names of characters, anything about IPS, anything about the moves, apparently Filia has a command grab, just an utter abortion.

More bad stuff: Calls the IPS burst a Tatsunko mega crash, continues to call Filia’s grab a command grab, calls the snapback a super, a total joke. I don’t know how you can be commentating on the Mike at WNF but never even played the game before by now. Like not even second string commentary material.

He was literally doing the combo they teach you in the tutorial + the air command throw after the second relaunch.

I know, which is why I’m kind of angry.

Ha, you guys haven’t even gotten’ into her dumb command grab resets yet.

HK(1) > Slight Delay > Excellabella > Showstopper is practically unreactable.

1.You can’t do Excellabella into Showstopper anymore.
2.Standing roundhouse (1 hit only) into Showstopper is a tickthrow alone, no need for the Excellabella.

  1. I like that change, that was way too good.
  2. The point of Excellabella is to catch them if they jump, if they don’t, they get eat the 360. If they do anything aside from hit a jab or DP, which they shouldn’t be, then they’re going to get hit by something.

Huh?

If they know about the EX, then they’ll just wait for it to wiff, then jump, and if you’re already doing the motion, they’re gonna get a big punish.

I like rondhouse into 360, but only once per match, no one’s gonna fall for that more than once.

The first two games between MegamanDS and Mike Z were really cool. I especially liked where MegamanDS seemed to bait a dp 3 times in a row with empty jumps and it never came.

Thoth’s play doesn’t seem that bad against Mike Z, he had some interesting use of late j.LPs and a couple of reads that worked. He threw out 360 when he should have thrown DD a few times, and his reset game was a bit 1 dimensional. Mike didn’t start teching grab bag until very late, but he did adjust to the random supers a bit by going for resets with cerebella in the air. Dunno what the fuss is about.

I don’t have too much to say about it, besides it being very elementary.

He mashed 360 a little hard, but we’re all guilty of that every now and then.

I actually think that helped Thoth. His combo was short and damaging, so it didn’t pump Filia’s meter too much and once he got a lead Filia couldn’t really burn tons of meter to make a comeback. His style was also full of random supers and fearless button-pressing. That’s kinda bad news for Mike because Filia relies on making the opponent scared to press buttons so she can reset all day.

I kinda feel that a good player like Mike should be able to beat someone who throws out random shit for free, but even though Filia is my secondary I have no idea how he could have played the match differently. Mike probably recognized that Thoth wasn’t going to do anything but try to tag him with random crap, but Filia can’t really do anything aside from air-dash forward and do resets when she gets in. Thoth kept hitting Filia out of her air dashes with random Diamond Dynamo and stuff, but what else was could she have done?

Bait a DD?

But Mike was probably thinking, “Oh fuck, he’s gonna DP grab me”.

It’s a bit risky to bait Thoth because he’s totally willing to just throw out random 360s.

If you’re playing Filia and you feel fear at any point, it’s over. In my experience you need to be going balls-out nuts 100% of the time to have a chance.

Valentine is the worst character in the game? Ha! I laugh at that joke.

Honestly, Mike deserved to lose that match against Thoth. When you get hit by the same reset that’s been hitting you for most of your life that you can easily escape by teching it or mashing out a super for your own punish, then that’s completely on you. It’s not like Thoth really mixed it up either, he did the same combo and the air command grab reset at the same point every time and it hit him like what, 6 times before Mike teched one at the end? And then when Mike did tech it, Thoth didn’t do it anymore and the combo he was doing did like 30% and left him in a bad position. So Thoth pretty much had no way to mixup the air grab reset, so it was pretty much a gimmick in that sense, but it was a gimmick that was working and it won him the game.

To Mike Z:
My friend is one of the three people still waiting for the in-game move list #imnotjoking

I’m liking these changes. I’m all for 2 player fighting games

So I just finished watching the Mike Z vs Thoth video, took some time to find it but I was able to find and there is something I have to get off of my chest. WTH. Are you serious? I was mad salty alongside MEgaman DS and Mike, that was BS, pure BS. Thoth practically ran through the whole tournament doing the combo taught to you in Tutorial mode, random supers and 360’s. Personally I was glad that the dude lost to Megaman DS because that was just retarded, being able to do 80 percent off of random 360’s, or a short combo that does that much damage. Sure Mike took a while to actually figure out that the dude just throws out random supers, but honestly could anyone really blame him for not shaking the dude’s hand? I mean sure I understand that you have to do everything in your power to win, but damn being able to take off 30 ro 40 percent health off of a 8 to 12 hit combo without a super is very dumb. Glad her damage got nerfed down.

Complaining about throws in a fighting game yeahhhhhhh we in there
