Yeah if you’re not already jumping by the time double assist puts you in block stun the best thing to do is just sit and block. You’re gonna be forced to take a mix up but if you jump you’re gonna most likely get blown up. You simply just have to avoid blocking that assist on the ground at all costs. The block stun on it must be gapped like MVC3 Sent drones if jumping causes you to get hit. It’s just at least in Marvel 3 you have to be hit low to get caught with pre jump frames. I guess in this game any type of height of hit will cause guard break. Not that I’ve studied it a ton yet.
If they do take anything away from the assist I would just like it to be the invincibility since there really is no other assist ATM that covers that much range and locks down. Not that it’s OMG broken but it’s a bit unnecessary to be invincible on top of that when there are pretty much no other real horizontal assists ATM that give you anywhere near as much space contro and lockdown. Right now the only reason to use the typical invincible AA assists is that they cover the anti air better and can’t be crouched or walked under as easily. Which then you might as well just make a 3 person team with point character, AA and double butt so you can just cover everything.
The custom assist thing is interesting and all…but unlike in Marvel 3 at least where there’s a lot of assists that cover large amounts of space on the ground while locking down…in this game a lot of the assists you can utilize aren’t very strong when it comes to space coverage. Double is the only character that really comes close to locking down like a Marvel beam or tatsu or anything so there’s not really much reason to not play her on your team ATM. Especially if you’re trying to get past a loaded Peacock or other size 3 point team.
if it’s not a true blockstring, does that mean there’s a command grab vulnerable point while blocking hornet bomber? If they jump they get hit by the assist, if they don’t they get grabbed?

Rather there a command grab point if you duck the first hit of hk bomber. A normal grab point between “hit” 2 and 3 as well if you attempt to jump you’ll get punish for not being able to block during pre-jump. Standing should work fine against this and it just that stealth low to worry about
So I been playing Val / Parasoul / Filia since release and I really like this team. I personally think Parasoul is the best character of the 3. I had never played a charge character before and I’m glad I tried it out. She has just so many tools for all situations, great assists and mix ups. Val and Filia are more straightforward and I like playing rush down characters so they are great. I need to learn some more resets with Val and Filia though.
This team also has great synergy with DHC’s and assists no matter which order they are in. I usually use either Slow Napalm Shot with Updo or Napalm Pillar with HK Hairball. A few other assists work well too.
People who are upset with the IPS adjustments are overreacting imo.
Also all the disagreement about a tier list should be viewed as a positive thing because it is evidence of balance in the cast. If everyone agreed that character ‘a’ and ‘b’ were top tier/ass tier that would be bad. :smokin:
Hopefully this thread will be more about gameplay and strategy and less about tier lists.
LOL people think patch going to change the good characters are mistaken, double will still be better than alot of the characters and parasoul will be top as well. No change at all. Basically mike just made other characters suck even more now.
There really isn’t much difference between A and B tier right now. I think it’s too early with this game, though I do think Parasoul and Painwheel stand out slightly.
lol every character at ratio 4 can kill someone, doesn’t mean it’s a good character. If that character sucks duo chances are they suck solo as well, and i don’t get why people are rating ms.fortune so high i think she’s ok but top? i’d rather face a ms.fortune then worry about multiple double mixups and a instant way to get in my face.
And people who rate double bottom obviously don’t play online or play anyone but poop people that use the character
I think it’s just because people have been exposed to different levels of play between the characters. Like some might have played good Parasoul’s and Double, while others have played against good Fortunes. You only know as much as you’ve experienced.

I did the rankings based on the performance of the **INDIVIDUAL **in a 1 vs 1 for instance. (Meaning not judging on assists)
Anything I consider in at least “A” territory is a character thats tourney viable and it all is left is the missing variables of how skilled the player is with said character and another psychological factors that can’t ever be helped to be measured. All in all i consider this similar to KoF 13 based on how the “tier list” is not that huge of a divide to alienate the rubbish characters and the clearly defined top class characters a la marvel series is one example coming to mind
Thats not true. Some characters work better on a team than alone. Valentine is a perfect example. Valentine alone is strong but she has faults and weaknesses. When you give her a strong assist to back her up, she becomes much more troublesome to deal with. Same for Peacock.
The same can be said for trio teams. Characters like Filia and Fortune would do great on a trio team. But Painwheel or Peacock? Not so much. IMO putting Peacock on a trio team is like wasting a character slot. If you are going to play Peacock, you really should only play her on a duo team.
Oh sweet god i thought yesterday when i get comboed to death in 15 secs couldnt be possibly worse. Well ladies and gentleman(?) i was wrong. Today i found a painwheel who did a 50hit combo reset 50hit combo reset then proceeded to do this on the incoming 2nd character. Being the idiot i am i have to ask. How in the hell should i deal with resets when I
a, cant even use one except for trying to grab reset after a combo
b, cant even understand WHEN should i try to block resets.
So far the guy who used wheel played with me for quite some time. Did i improve? Yea sure with a score of 20-0 for wheel i sure did -.-
I tried watching for the resets i was always late to try to dash , block or tech. I tried mashing grab to tech, which obivously didnt work. I kept crying for a Burst in this damn game, which will never happen. So what SHOULD i do to understand resets without tutorials , trials or any real capable person showing me the process?
