Skullgirls franchise only for PC?

Okay, this thread got severely off-track. I may be a little late getting here, but we can’t read every thread. I only noticed this one because there were posts that got reported.

Some of you guys are also being a little too mean. I just deleted a lot of posts (especially those being mean or not contributing anything) and issued a few infractions.

Also, stop being mean to Oil R. I personally don’t like a lot of the stuff he says, but he has a right to post it. Don’t be a jerk to someone just because he disagrees with you. Put him on your ignore list and move on, and report his posts instead of popping off on him. It’s our job to take care of problematic members, not yours. It’s a stress you don’t want, trust me.

Anyway, I do have some input on this subject. Yes, PC gamers have LAN parties. I go to a few myself. Everyone ends up bringing their own computers, mice, and keyboards, and that’s fine.

However, arcade sticks aren’t keyboards. Many people have their own unique stick that they play with. Anyone who’s run a Melty tournament on PC can tell you that it’s absolute hell trying to cater to people who use their own sticks, because you have to go in and configure each stick (often by hand) and it’s not easy or time-efficient. Now consider this with six or seven PCs and having to do this each time. Traditional PC gamers just stay at one PC. They aren’t switching around frequently and hopping between PCs every 5-10 minutes like the fgc does with consoles. I can think of ten different stick pcbs off the top of my head, each one requiring a specific setup.

Having said all that, there IS hope. The PC version of AE did very well at recognizing different sticks. Some of them you plug in and they “just work.” I know this because I test sticks out all the time using it. I’m sure SFxT is the same way. It would probably require a lot of work on the team’s part, but the same could happen with SG. It’s just an issue of time and resources, but they unfortunately are running low on both.

In short, it’s possible, but probably not feasible at this point. Kickstarter the hell out of it and let us help out.

And I WILL buy the PC version at full price, thank you very much.

I doubt they’ll enable that option… most likely you’ll still only be able to buy it for the bargain price of 15$ :frowning:

i don’t really see a point since there’s only a short amount of characters more characters added into the game would be fine

After reading this Mike and his Team should consider a Wii U port

There are no offline PC-based tournaments because there’s no standardized setup that guarantees the same consistently smooth experience as that found on console. Driver and hardware complications are rampant due to the sheer multitude of problems that can crop up. I have a monster rig, and I bench AE at 400fps, but due to a known micro-stuttering issue with my SLI setup, I have to disable one of my video cards or deal with frames cutting into each other. A friend of mine has a sick laptop, but without some serious tinkering with the drivers, PC AE has like 3 frames of added input delay. Shit like that…

However, I hopped on the '09 bandwagon with the PC version of SFIV. Now I run my own gatherings (and hopefully larger events). I know about a half-dozen individuals who’ve risen out of scrubdom and into that magic world of competitive play simply because of the accessibility a PC release brings. A few of them graduated to offline gatherings to level up, but some of them only play on PC because their local scene is inaccessible. They continue to play on PC. They’re waiting for Skullgirls to come out on PC before they devote any time to the game as they don’t have access to a console.

I’m currently in college, and run gaming events on campus. I see dozens of potential competitive players everyday (I’m taking Game Dev, so I’m sitting in pools of future competitive players), and they’re interested in Skullgirls, but they’re generally PC gamers and Steam fiends. A PC release of Skullgirls along traditional channels would open so many doors for them.

Despite there being no competitive scene on PC, they would play competitively. I think the lack of a competitive “scene” is simply because there’s virtually no PC fighters, and generally there’s someone with a console at-the-ready if a tournament is going to happen. If PC fighters were more prevalent, I think we’d see a lot more offline events. We can only dream of possibilities, though.

In the end, because the console markets still have the potential to be deliciously lucrative for DLC, and since we don’t know the financial situation of Lab Zero/Autumn Games in regards to their ability to provide content updates, alongside how much revenue Skullgirls may bring in the future, on top of the fact that I’m sure everyone who works on the game wants it to be available on all platforms… deep breath… this thread is silly.

I’m sure they’re plenty aware of their options and market factors and shit.

Has anyone considered a toaster and a tesla coil?
