That would be an interesting natural progression, I mean at that point Vitale would not need to repress any sort of filling, Cerebella would be already trained to be his bodyguard and #1 assassin and a relation with more feelings involved would make Cerebella more whiling to keep doing what he order her to do.
given that the skull heart is a tool/employee of extradimensional entities that are probably nefarious, i’m gonna say that its impossible to get a authentic wish out of it. they’ll always be subject to twisted words or have some kind of terrible downside.
i’m guessing the “needs a pure heart” thing is just another layer of the ruse.
heck, when carol and nadia refuse to play along with its rigged offer, it starts with the standard villain taunting of “this isn’t over!”
Yeah, I don’t think it matters how pure of heart you are, your gonna get turned into a Skullgirl regardless.
However I think depending on how pure the wish is, the transformation would be slower.
But what about Nancy? Her wish was pretty damn pure but she was turned into the Skullgirl on the spot because that was how the Skull heart decided to fulfill her wish.
Don’t mean to throw off the current discussion at hand, just been wanting to join this site for awhile now and post a theory I had, just had to read through the whole thread first to see if anyone touched up on it. Not too much though, so I’ll go ahead and write it out.
I’ve had this theory since shortly through the start of the game, and it got stronger and weaker as time went on, but it still seems like a possible outcome worth mentioning.
On Queen Nancy’s page it says “She’s currently dead, but fighting game boss characters don’t like to stay dead.”
This had me to believe that Double, was actually Queen Nancy (Parasoul and Umbrella’s mother) to which after being “killed” and losing the “true” power of the skull heart, just became an abomination with a shell of the power she had as the skull girl, and became a true pawn to the Trinity. A true pawn being that she became a minion to spread the chaos of the skull heart, along with the continuation of no free will or memory of anything that she once was, and with the ability to answer to the Trinity directly. Thus making the scenario of Marie returning as a playable character stronger, but without the power of the skull heart, she has also become an abomination of some type (perhaps more bone themed than Double’s flesh theme) but since she had more free will as the skull girl, if she would come back as another “minion” in the same purpose of Double’s, she may have more control in which instead of helping to carry out the chaos of the skull heart, she attempts to finish what she started as the skull girl, and join the ongoing fight against the Medici and perhaps offer more detail as to what happened to her and Peacock.
But THEN, at the end of Double’s story, this “Mother” character comes around with Aeon and Venus and has an interesting silhouette that somewhat throws off the Double being Nancy theory. But even if Double isn’t really Queen Nancy, she could still be a possible “past” skull girl. Perhaps with a deeper story of her own that could explain her nun appearance.

What Marie could look along the lines of, if she were to be reborn:
But with the current discussion of Cerebella’s ending with Ms. Fortune, though I was disturbed a bit like others were, I believed off the bat the theory of Nadia really just “becoming” the lifegem (rather than flat out dying) was the true result. But as it’s been said, they’re all non canon. For all we know, Filia’s ending could’ve turned into a scenario where when she becomes the Skull Girl, then blows up the whole universe or something silly like that, killing off all these cool characters.
What was Queen Nancy wish anyway?
She wished for peace between the nations. Skullworld equivalent of World War I was going on at the time and Nancy wanted to end it. She accomplished this by becoming the Skull Girl and forcing the nations to come to an agreement so that they could focus their resources on killing her.
I doubt it’s what she had in mind when she made the wish, but it worked.
Well yeah, the Skullheart WILL grant a wish, but unless you’re its definition of pure then it’ll meddle with the result in some way.
I think that probably explains Filia’s ending more that I think about it-- the twist wasn’t that she’d become the Skullgirl slowly… the twist was that Painwheel got to have a normal life but she didn’t fully regain a normal appearance. She still looks freaky (substantially less than full on painwheel, but still). Becoming the Skullgirl slowly was just a side effect of making a noble wish.
…Actually Filia’s ending mostly has me wondering where the heck both of them would have ended up living after that. Did Painwheel move in with her parents again? She said she moved from the Labs… What about Filia, was she sleeping in a cardboard box in an alley or what?
I’d still hit it.

They never explain that part yet ^-^ they hinted they will add more story content in the near future though, I assume Felia was just a wanderer amnesiac with Samson looking out for her due to their partnership. She has Vindice blood confirmed by Marie so I assume She had a completely different personalitity before this which explains why she was not “pure” in the empty sockets of the skullheart
Oh you Skullheart.
Always so trollish
I only realised earlier today that people that aren’t familiar with H.P. Lovecraft might not get the nod Ahad gave him when it comes to the Dagonians. This isn’t exactly story related, but it’s general background trivia which anyone in this thread will probably appreciate.
H.P. Lovecraft is famous for his stories about the Old Ones and specifically Cthulhu, but many of his stories also feature a sort of fish/frog/human hybrid species called the Deep Ones that live in the sea. One of the more famous of these Deep Ones encounters is from a story called The Shadow Over Innsmouth, which focuses on all manner of nasty goings on in a small seaside town called Innsmouth that is set upon by these fish people.
For another layer of references, these Deep Ones all worship/are ruled over by an ancient fish god called Dagon (which Lovecraft drafted in from an existing god).
So, if you’ve ever wondered why those adorable aquatics are called Dagonians, now you know!
The Skullgirls reference thread beckons for this tidbit of info. really interesting!
I question her looking freaky. There’s a girl in her class with horns, a town populated with fish people and the one of the stages as a guy who’s face looks like it’s been torn off. I wouldn’t bat an eye at her knowing this kind of people exist in the world
Official Minette Theme

Predictable as fuck as it is, I can’t help but want to hug Painwheel and share the happy.
If Minette becomes playable, I will pitch a fucking fit if she doesn’t use water attacks/blockbusters. (Aulbath/Rikuo references would be nice, too.)
I can’t believe I haven’t noticed it before. Cerebella’s win quote against Filia is “The new do just isn’t you”. It implies she knew Filia before she got Samson.
I’m actually very interested in Dahlia’s story mode if/when she becomes a playable character. It will be a good opportunity to see the history, politics, and various other inner workings of the Medici mafia.
Minette I’m not so sure about. She’s a waitress in Fortune’s story mode, not a fighter. Minette is helpless against the same quality of goon Filia scared off instantly. What if she was kidnapped by the Medici Human Trafficking Division to be sold to Brain Drain? Sure she’s cute and cuddly (and cold blooded) now, but they’re going to tear her fins off and replace them with blades, spikes, leather flaps, and other nasty bits. If that’s what she’s going through to be a playable character, I’d rather just see her get saved in someone else’s ending like the river princess she is.
@Pizzarino: Maybe she could have Wright-style play? If not, I’ll settle for any character using water attacks. Preferably a Dagonian. Stanley Whitefin…mayhaps?
