Skull Girls Story Discussion Thread: ALERT! SPOILERS INBOUND!

i sorta figured she’s related to him somehow and she’s a legitimate heir to the whole criminal empire (perhaps even one of several with a claim?)

and here’s a question: how are “synthetic parasites” constructed? i just noticed that the connection of painwheel to her wheel is that sort of spine looking thing, but it seems similar in structure to leviathan’s body.

do the labs use natural parasites as the basis for imperfect copies as synthetic ones?

Samson and Leviathan both seem like a symbiotic relationship rather than a parasitic one.

Yeah. It seems like Alex wanted to use more spooky word =]

I finished all of the Story Mode the other day. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied. The story mode was fun, had funny dialogue, great art and good music. My only gripe, was that I wish there more interaction between combatants. Every character’s story mode only has them interacting with one or two combatant other than the “heavenly kings”, if you will. Sure, they interact with the non-playable characters of their respective lore, but I wish I had more of a reason for why X fights against Y other than that if they don’t the story mode would be very short.

Like, every character interacts with Marie, Valentine and Double. As an example, the only other combatant Cerebella interacts with aside from those three is Ms. Fortune, yet I fought against Filia and Parasoul. The latter of which, is the princess of her own kingdom. I think there’d be a bit more interaction between the leg-breaker of a mafia group and what is essentially this story’s version of THE LAW.

In spite of this, I still liked the story mode very much, and I would be more than willing to pay for a canonical version that would undoubtedly improve upon what we already have. Adding things like branching paths(that branch depending on how you win a match, ala Guilty Gear XX’s story mode), and special battle conditions(like X character having infinite meter for the match. Again, like Guilty Gear XX’s story mode) would be a huge improvement. Regardless of what may come, I look forward to it.

Just saw Cerebella’s ending. Damn shame what happened to Nadia. I hear it caused various levels of rage amongst players.

I’m just guessing here, but it looked like Cerebella had this “Careful what you wish for” look on her face while sitting on Vitale’s lap. I don’t know if she actually wished for Vitale to love her, but it felt to me like he still sees her as nothing more than a tool/weapon to be used.

Could she be sad about killing Nadia? Has she ever killed for Vitale before?

I don’t think Cerebella used the Skullheart at the end. I think Vitale was happy with her because she got him the life gem and killed Ms. Fortune, both of which he asked for. To me, at least, the look on her face at the end was that of guilt. She felt bad for what she did, and she was realizing that she was just a tool.

I don’t think she’s killed for him before. When he asked her to “deal” with someone for him, she assumed he needed her to catch someone. She seems to be willfully ignorant.

Someone with knifes on her shoes, a giant hulking battle hat than can crush things and with combat training cant be completely ignorant, she knows how to hurt people so she at least was used to deal with standard mafia coercion practices, maybe not killing the targets but certainly hurting them.

Pretty much this. I’m still can’t imagine a way for her being pure of heart. Seriously. Her only chance is to be so immensely stupid that it allows her to not understand what she’s doing at the moment >_> Which isn’t the case I suppose.

Hey, she is from the circus.
you know how those circus people are

O_o no, I’m not. I can see circus people as criminals but I can’t see how adding mafia at the top is making you more virtuous >_>

They’re exquisite man.
Everytime they do stuff, we all go
"Ohohoho, oh those Circus People, always so eccentric"
Maybe Cerebella in all those Circuses quirkiness really believe the Medici don’t do evil stuff.
And Leg breaker is just a name for “people who hug really strong other people”

well. I guess I should admit she’s thinking that Vitale didn’t do anything bad and shut up. I hope we’ll see more elaborate story one day which will resolve this misunderstanding…

I think the Skull Heart’s definition of “pure” doesn’t necessarily mean “good”. It said Bella was pure, but she’s willing to do pretty bad stuff for the sake of love and loyalty. Judging by its remarks on a couple of other wishes, the heart’s version of pure might be something closer to “having no reservations or regrets”? Like how Filia’s wish would have been pure except for the fact that she made the wish partially because she felt guilty. Maybe the wisher has to have no doubts whatsoever about what they’re doing?

…or maybe like you guys said, they just have to be totally oblivious XP

I agree.

I don’t remember “pure” meaning “good”.

I remember it meaning “clean”, and Cerebella is as clean as it gets, she had no doubts, regrets, nothing is blocking her judgement, she believes Vitale is right everytime.

I guess the skull heart could interpret 100% selfishness as pure.

But I don’t remember it being said Cerebella’s wish was pure. In fact, I don’t even remember seeing Cerebella make a wish.

In the story she just takes back the Life Gem (and I think its implied also the Skullheart) to Vitale.

Marie says to Cerebella: “A pure girl” or something like that. So her wish would (probably) have been pure.
I didn’t really get Valentine’s ending though.

Yeah, it was Mari who said that she was pure hearted even though the company she keeps around her.

I don’t remember, I played it once on day-one at the same time as the other seven stories, but I remember that the Skull Heart talked even if you don’t make a wish.

I suppose one day Cerebella will be to Vitale as Black Dahlia is to Lorenzo.
