I have a certain aversion to this kind of mentality as well, I think some do not see past story being “just some additional” stuff in Fighting Games.
IMO, a Story enhances a fighting game and makes sense of the designs within it. I mean, if all you care is just the gameplay, then let’s just have CYCLOID type designs and just make the body proportions different. >:/

About Cerebella crushing Fortune into a life gem, are we sure she didn’t use the Skull Heart wish to turn her into the gem?
Fairly sure, I would say. The story pictures pretty clearly showed her grabbing her up and squeezing her into a gem. Also, when anyone in the other stories made a wish, the Skullheart helpfully analyzed that wish. Why wouldn’t it do that here?
Also, I seem to remember someone of moderate authority confirming that as well (skullgirls-chan?)

Story is ALREADY written. All characters, stages, dialogues, quotes, special moves even are what they are BECAUSE OF story behind them. Now what you’re trying to say is "I’m okay with having those unique characters, abilities and stages but fuck the actual reasoning behind all of those. Nobody cares."
I care. And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. I know that FGs can get away with having shitty story and I’m okay with them not going extra mile to make something better. But SG already has its amazing plot. I know that competitive players will be perfectly fine with not knowing a thing about it but I can’t see why Ahad’s ideas and labor should go to waste just because genre has such low standards.
Not to mention that SG already raised the bar in many departments. Story one will be easiest of them all. RL should just do it!
