SJC Help!

I can SJC on the left side but doing it from the right is kinda hard.

I have been having trouble with the consistency of the SJC ultra, I can sometimes do it 3 or times in a row, think I have it down and then not do it for a long time. I have played SF for less than a year and I think that I may not have the right “smoothness” of the qcf with my hand, especially when I have to do it fast. I was wondering if anyone thinks getting a circle gate would help me out with this?

circle gates, barf. tough it out imo.

After spending my whole evening trying to do it in training mode(yes, really), I did it once… What the fuck.

Well, once you do it the first time it means you’re getting better.

Alright so I can do it pretty consistently now. The strangest thing about it is the timing on the KKK… it’s much slower than you think. You need to cancel the super jump into ultra, NOT the HP/mk or what not, if that makes sense. This was really causing me some confusion and it was why I couldn’t land it properly at first.

Same goes for her SJC into dash after lp > mp > c.hk > s.hk… the kick has to be after the SJC initiates.

I get it to come out like 15% of the time. Some times, it just feels right and it comes right out, other times, it’ll just be ex karagiri or whatever it’s called over and over again.

Hit KKK later than you normally would and it should come out much more often.

I don’t want to get into a debacle here, but i stand by my statement, FOR CONSISTENCY, if you input the qcf motions after tapping the HP, you’ll be more consistent, because you can’t accidentally pick up mistaken specials.

I’m not saying you can’t buffer the motions with the HP, but make sure the notation on the input display is as follows

lp > mp > hp > qcf qcf … The HP and qcf are basically done at the same time, but if the HP input is in first, you are guaranteed to not have any issues with specials coming out, unless you MISS the up forward to get a sjc.

I promise you guys, if you do it this way you’ll notice consistency, train yourself to qcf after the HP, there doesn’t have to be a gap, just make sure the HP is in before the qcfs on the input display. Despite the fact that there are many other methods, and many others work for different people, logically, this SHOULD be the most consistent. If you have any issue it means your timing on the 3K’s is too slow/too fast, I wish i could record the sounds of it for you guys, just try it out and let me know your results.

I already made a video the day after the game was released about this lol :stuck_out_tongue:

Watch the two videos by tritan` and IceWilly. Well, listen to them really. Especially if you’re using a stick. When you start practicing it and getting the timing down, turn the game volume (tv, sound system, whatever) down. After you can do that reliably, turn the sound on, and practice more until you can do it reliably. I’ve done it buffering from the TC, inputting the qcf, qcf, uf+3k after the hp, and with a 450/540 motion. Unless you really need to work on your execution, it’s probably not the motions that are giving you trouble, it’s the timing of the button presses. Which are going to be the same regardless of how you input the motion.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is helping me… A LOT.

I think by this point everything’s been said, but wanted to stress again how important it is to end on :uf: and not rush it for s.lk s.mk sjc u2.
That’s where the whole problem was for me, often I’d not end on uf because my hands are lazy, ever since I started focusing on uf I can do it about 90% of the time. Haven’t even tried the punch one, doesn’t seem as useful to me, and my brain doesn’t have capacity for more than 1 standard ultra-setup.

I’m actually trying to to SJCs into ultra 2 using the Xbox control. Has anyone managed to use the Xbox control to pull this off consistently? Or is it time for me to invest in a fight stick…

I would try using the analog stick and see if that makes things anymore precise. Otherwise get a stick.

hmm I think my common problem is doing it too fast.
Make sure the Up registers tho. Slow down if you have to.
I think alot of people are doing it so fast that the SJC is not registering.

At least this was my problem.

After doing this I started doing it consistently.

I did the motion from the vid posted earlier.

:qcf: :hp: :qcf::uf::u:

thank you for the sjc into ultra icewilly, k4polo, and eish (especially for the ibuki tutorial. brought me up to speed greatly). was a pain in the ass figuring it out.

the SJC thing
I’ve been playing Ibuki for about 3 days now and havent even known there was a SJC… is it as blatent as Cvipers, or is it likely I’ve been doin it and not even realised?

is there a vid perhaps, or what is the command for it?

What do you do about negative edge for SJC ultra? I can do Cr. HP 100% because it doesn’t cancel into anything but for cr. MP SJC ultra I need to hold the middle punch down and then press three kicks which is awkward as I don’t use a KKK macro but that works 100% I just wish there was a better way. But I can’t get MK SJC ultra do to negative edge I get the MK command dash and sometimes and ultra comes out after which is a long time after I finished inputs but likely do to negative edge nailing my QCF of the ultra input.

I have been doing OK with both inputs but prefer the full circle then quarter circle method and wait until I press the button for the normals before inputting and 2 QCF then up forward for the TC ultra. Maybe another method is better but I don’t like doing inputs before pressing the normal as it only works for target combos and won’t work for hit confirms. I try to hold it down and release at different times or just tap the button to get the normal out quickly like usual but what is a good method of dealing with MK negative edge for say C. LK, C. LP,S. MK SJC Ultra 2. Just looking for something consistent I can practice as I just spent three days trying to figure out good techniques to practice but negative edge kills them, probably because it slows me down trying to deal with it.

My theory is release the MK button when I am down back position but I couldn’t get it to work using the pause trick to test and it would only work if I do a 360 anyway.

Thanks.

For anyone who doesn’t have a fightstick, I have been using an Xbox 360 control and using this advice, am now able to land it more and more. You don’t need a fightstick to do this as I previously suspected, just patience and practice.
