Yeah , despite the ruling i don’t think anyone who has listed the Jefferson’s has put it in the 80s category, even i thought it should be in the 70s before i looked it up.
*Jefferson’s changed back to 70s
Modern Family and South Park added to 2000s Bracket just to have it filled up so people can start lobbying to have something taken down. If a better show gets named it shouldn’t have a problem getting on.
I’d have to disagree with both of those, but this is why i put it up on SRK
How i met your mother is hand down better than Malcolm in the middle. The continuity on that show is unmatched by anything. They’ve foreshadowed events a season in advance multiple time on that show. Not to mention that no one on Malcolm in the middle is nearly NPH funny. After the first Season i kind of wished someone would just kill the whole family on Malcolm in the middle and put them out of their misery, It was like the point of the show was that their lives should suck forever due to their own stupidity.
I think you had it in the 90’s section on your list? Hmm its in a tough spot because it originated in the 80’s but aired through much of the 90’s, but it’s a pretty good representation of the 80’s to me.
Anybody who doesn’t believe Full House belongs on the list never watched TGIF as a kid and is probably too young to appreciate it anyway
90’s
Seinfeld
Simpsons
South Park
Get A Life
Larry Sanders
00’s
Arrested Development
Modern Family
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Office
30 Rock
I don’t know shows of the 80’s well enough to judge. All of the shows listed are ones I would still watch today, I don’t think I could say that for anything from the 80’s. I’m quite certain I’m forgetting some, but oh well…
Why is people rating Fresh Prince so highly? Some nostalgia thing? That show was rerun like a year or two ago here, and it was so seriously unfunny it was painful.
I wish I could remember the joke I found particularly lame. I dunno, maybe it has it’s ups and downs or something?
Anyway, my faves (not counting animated, but let me say American Dad is severly underrated and that Simpsons died a long time ago)
–00s
The IT Crowd
The Mighty Boosh
70s Show
How I Met Your Mother
The Big Bang Theory
30 Rock
–90s
Frasier (How is this not higher on peoples lists? vastly superior to cheers)
Seinfeld
Just Shoot Me
Drew Carey
Married With Children
Ellen
Is Married an 80’s show? If so, add that to my list along with Always Sunny in '00. Arrested Development should win the whole thing as the best show ever made. Ever.
The first two Brackets are currently filled although this probably won’t be the final lineup, Does anyone want to make a case for a show to take another show off of the 2000s bracket?
2000s
If you want a show put on you have to give a show to take off and why your show deserves that show’s spot.
You can take any show off the 2000 line-up for Arrested Development. I feel almost offended that I have to defend this. Anyone who knows anything about quality television will all agree that AD is easily the best show put on television in the last decade, possibly the best comedy ever made for television. It’s hard to explain to people who have never watched the show why it is so good. Not because it’s hard to grasp, simply because the reasons are so vast that it is simply easier to say “it’s the best show, trust me.”
It had jokes you could only catch on second viewings because they referred to events that hadn’t even happened yet. It had so many jokes per episode, both obvious and subtle, that it would be impossible to absorb and recognize everyone of them on first viewing. The culmination of genius writing, genius casting, genius acting, genius directing and of course, genius narrating produced easily the best show on any of these lists. Ask anyone who has taken the time to watch all 53 episodes and they will tell you that no show deserves the honor of best show of this decade more than Arrested Development.
Also, there is .
I changed the rankings for an actual tourny format (1v8,2v7, etc…)
2000s
Curb Your Enthusiasm
South Park
Family Guy
The Office
30 Rock
Malcom in the Middle
Arrested Development
The Bernie Mac Show
i want to put the boondocks in, but only 3 15 episode seasons? body of work not large enough. same reason i dropped modern family without seeing an episode. i think curb is hands down the funniest show of the decade. malcolm in the middle secretly ran forever and was still connsistently funny as hell which is why it outranks the other show which were either not as funny or didn’t run as long.
Titus - The Bernie Mac Show - That 70s show - The Boondocks - Everybody Hates Chris - The Parkers - Reno 911 - The IT Crowd - Malcolm in the Middle - The Office - Everybody loves Raymond -Arrested Development
90s
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
The Simpsons
Seinfeld
Saved by the Bell
Martin
Boy Meets World
Daria
Frasier
the wonder years is a drama, it’s not even legitimately debateable. this bracket is stacked though, fresh prince and the simpsons are clearly the 2 iconic series, also they hold up the best. seinfeld, saved by the bell, martin and boy meets world are both dated as hell, but still legitimately funny. i would put jamie foxx at the 8th spot, but i remember it getting bad at the end.
Family Matters - Sister Sister - The Jamie Foxx Show - Moesha - Living Single - Roc
Daria - Duckman - Doogie Howser MD - 3rd Rock From the Sun - Drew Carey - Frasier - Full House - Boy meets World - Home Improvement - Friends - Will & Grace - Wings
i don’t really feel qualified to speak on 70’s and 80’s brackets.
Thats my problem with Arrested Development, its hard to put it on there considering it got cancelled after 3 seasons.
It was originally on the list, then i decided to take it off and let someone argue it back onto the list, to see if enough people felt it should be on there.
personally i’ve only seen about 3 - 4 episodes and wasn’t really ever motivated to check out more.
