No one is saying the game is balanced, if anyone is they’re fucking retarded. What we’re saying is with work you can win with most of the cast, which should be all that is needed.
Someone posted a thread titled “Sirlin exposes SF3 purists” and the article is about antiprogress and antibalance mindset in which Sirlin uses 3rd Strike OE and it’s players as the epitome of this mindset an sites the game as examples throughout. He also uses Starcraft as the example of doing balance right.
3S players get offended they we were villainized and their game dragged through the mud.
Sirlin Army says we are blowing it out of proportion and missing the point of the article.
3S players question why he used them and not a more modern game (he uses Starcraft as doing it right, why pick on an 10+ year old game re-released with GGPO for nostalgia and whats left of the 3S playerbase for doing it wrong).
Sirlin Army says because it just came out and he was reading a review about it so why not?
Topic title was changed at some point.

This seems to be pretty popular too, am I doing it right
Dr.B thinks I’m doing it right
lol, no one actually read the original thread title, apparently. They just saw Sirlin and 3S and went in.
I’m in my Gundam, so I’m not clicking all those links.
Also, wut?

You did it on purpose. You wanted this shit happen, warmonger.
I dub this tactics, “The Fivec Defense” (closely related to the “Chewbacca Defense”). To apply “The Fivec Defense” to an argument, simply rub in “that’s not a convincing argument because I say so,” after replying to another person’s post. No need to bring up a legitimate argument on your own, just let the Fivec Defense do the work for you.
Originally, I was all for looking into Sirlin’s critique on the 3S Community. I think he brings up something worth considering, even if it may not work out as good as he thinks it will. This thread has had so many twists and turns since its inception though. If people like Fivec are just going to discredit entire arguments based on nothing but their own bias, then what’s even the point of taking this thread seriously anymore? I know, at some point, both “sides” of this argument were arguing about the wrong thing. Well, look how long this has gone on and this discussion is still about as mature as a fetus. Now, both sides are arguing about the wrong thing and several people aren’t even listening to each other (but that isn’t stopping them from blasting each other).
Some of you guys need to grow up if you want this to go anywhere.
I actually haven’t seen him do that.

No true beefin’
Calling people out when they are wrong is great. who doesn’t do that? but the thing is…you have to have evidence… proof of something when you call someone out.
people who talk shit on 3S normally don’t play it, and their arguments are absolutely retarded, especially to players who do play it and on a regular basis.
so yeah, THINK what you want about 3S, but some idiots will never understand it.
and I am a SF2 veteran, played it everyday and was hardcore in it. It took me a while to really appreciate SF3, and when I finally understood it, I knew it was a huge upgrade to SF2 giving you numerous universal options that can null out any bad match-ups, but players will continue to play SF3 like 2 or 4, and when they can’t get a win at it because of lack of understanding and not putting the years and dedication required to get some what good at it, they bitch and complain and hate the game. who hasn’t seen this?
I know 3S as well as any joker here. I may not be as good as some, but I am better then most, and I use Necro. so the tier thing is laughable to me, but some people can hold on to that, if it makes them feel better about hating 3S and being terribly bad at the game.
Yeah sure! This thread is all about KOF13 hype. We’re all just getting really stoked that such a great company, Atlus, is handling the American localization. The new characters and stages look awesome so far, and the console version seems all around to be a huge improvement on the arcade version, which was already a great game! Top tier characters have been slightly nerfed, little things here and there, such as getting rid of some invincibility frames or adding a couple frames of recovery, and lower tiers have been buffed in similar ways. And also, no more Raiden drop kick combos if you’re not in the corner! All in all this is looking to be the most promising American KOF release in recent memory. We all just have our fingers crossed for good netcode!
And also, David Sirlin wrote a great series of articles detailing why KoF13 is a great game! For some reason he keeps on calling it Yomi, which I’m assuming is the Japanese translation for King of Fighters 13.
He wasn’t talking shit about the game awesome generalization there too.
I do, too. The point is, it was marketed as being based on ST - by Ono, himself, several and several times. Bullshit. I would have nothing to really complain in that sense, but we had this idiot come out and fool scrubs all around that they had this new, upgraded version of ST. Bullshit: plain bullshit. Had they stated from the beggining that they were working on a new confirm-heavy, combo-heavy, explosion-heavy, flashy, new game based on some mixture of Alpha 3, 3rd Strike and EX, I would know what would come, and I would not waste like months of my life waiting for a game that was supposed to be good. As they had not, I feel free to point out how things turned out different, and how different the game is from what they have advertised themselves it would be.
I could go on and quote Ono’s stupid sentences verbatim on how the game would be, just so to illustrate how stupid and blatantly false they were, but it would be too many and I honestly do not feel like going through the hassle.
Also, I do not mean ST is classic SF, it is not. HF is, but ST just happens to be a great game, too.
Edit: xesaie, you are right, it is off-topic, so I will leave this alone for now, in this thread. As for links, they exist since WW, so they are certainly not some “ST aspect that is in SF4”. And 1-frame links suck. But that’s it, I’m done, I will not derail this anymore.
Which one is the Hitler one? The one where he made the Autobahns?
People need to stop using the Kuroda Defense to justify the balance of 3S. Godly players can win using anyone. That’s why they’re godly.
People also need to stop assuming that 3S players, in being against rebalancing 3S, are against re-balancing in general. Let them play their game in peace, goddammit.
People also need to listen to this guy:
we’re wandering offpoint from being offpoint but just wanted to throw in here. Ono did a bunch of sucking up to both ST fans (look, it has links!) and 3S fans (Focus works kind of like parry!) They were just pandering like usual though.
Oh, SRK, you never change. I will never get why folks would rather sit on srk and argue why their game is good vs just playing their game…
When have I done what you’re describing? Are you referring to my argument that anecdotal evidence does not a tier list make? You’re looking for a reason why that’s the case? Really?
I’ll say this again. My main role in this thread was to clear up confusion as to Sirlin’s main point, not make his argument for him. So I’m really not sure where you’re getting this from.
