Edit: I’ve been asked several times the kit is this complex. The answer is no. This was 3 different prototypes that butteroj was testing plus a lot of spare parts to ensure he had everything he needed.
I have a hand full of the V3 prototypes on the way to validate the updated design. Since these are hand assembled the final proof volume will be very low. I expect to have a few extras when we’re done and I’ll work with Paradise to get them into the hands of those who expressed early interest.
Send me a PM and I will put you on the interest list and be sure to let me know what state you live in as I have found it easier to work directly with players at WNF when possible.
In case anyone is following the Magenta Siren thread, I have a small update and a teaser.
Version 2 of the Siren checks out and works better than expected but it’s not done quite yet. We’ve added yet additional super secret connector to to the Siren and are moving directly to producing V3.
So, the Siren, which is an add on to the Magenta, now has it’s own add on with yet more functionality. @butteroj may be able to share more on this one at or before CEO.
Over half of the enhanced prototype boards have been allocated. If you expressed interest and did not get a confirmation message please send me a PM and we can sort through the details. If you are attending CEO in two weeks there is a good chance I can arrange for pickup and/or installation at the show if desired.
Paradise will have about a limited number of the Siren v2 with blue leds at CEO this weekend so make sure to swing by their booth early before they are all gone.
Later this week I will post a write up of what you saw in @butteroj 's video but the Siren v2 allows you to switch modes by passing a magnet next to the joystick or connecting the Siren to an external button on your case such as the start button. It has the hardware required to double the functionality on the button so it continues to function as the start button but if held down it will change the mode on magenta (or put magenta into setup mode at power up).
I have more cables coming in later this week and have a just few of the prototype v2 Sirens left. Depending on the demand at CEO we may or may not take this product to production. The boards are rather complex, time consuming and expensive to build so after the last of the protoypes are gone there will be no more small volume runs. If you want a Siren and do not get one at CEO send me a pm and I will let you know if there are any remaining.
Woot! My Siren is on its way so I can complete my stick!
Thank you @ZonbiPanda for being awesome, super helpful and just a pleasure to talk to.
Can’t wait to use my Magenta with the Siren functionality. Without Siren, I don’t think I would have been able to really utilize all the Magenta Profiles because my stick has limited buttons and it would be annoying to constantly open up the stick to push the profile button on the bottom of the Magenta. So grateful that something like Siren exists!
Got my Siren V2 and a LVLT in the mail from @ZonbiPanda today, as well as a new TE2+ To install it in. With help from Zonbi, and my Good Brother @Butteroj everything went together great. This is a work of art. I honestly think that PAS should implement the Siren as a stock feature for the price we are paying already, if not, it’s still worth the purchase alone, I love having the magnet swap profiles, or the button tap as well.
If you guys are on the fence, or considering a purchase, it’s definitely a great addition to the Magenta!
For anyone looking for a Siren, Paradise is now stocking them in their web store. They did a small run of the Sirens for EVO and now have additional units available for sale through https://paradisearcadeshop.com .
Paradise has more Magenta Sirens coming in soon and this may have been why the link was not made public. If you need one you can always contact Paradise support and they should be able to give you up to the minute details or PM me and I will see what I have here.
Confirmed Paradise does in fact have the Magenta Siren kit in stock. For whatever reason you cannot locate the product with their web site search but the direct link below works. Found that through their twitter feed posted 2 days ago.
Does anyone who have a magenta know if you can switch to a circle gate instead of the square gate that comes with it? I know paradise doesn’t make anything like that yet, so would like to know if there is a work around? I thought about 3D printing the part but would like to know if there is any other way to do it. Thanks
Due to the way the MAGENTA works (magnet/sensors) it doesn’t support anything but a square gate. Another type of gate or even a different square gate will cause input errors due to the PCB getting info it wasn’t calibrated to parse. It will receive number values outside the norm, or none at all.
The sensors and type of magnet are also super specific. If anything is changed it won’t work the way they intended.
I’m not sure what the future holds but right now what you’re trying to do isn’t possible.
