your team doesn’t DHC very well so you should prolly consider ending combos with team hyper combo if in the corner instead of a DHC.

This is very true, and I wish it wasn’t the case. THC doesn’t work so well either, I think it does ends up doing about 460…I can’t recall off the top of my head, but it’s not very efficient. Is this going to be a downfall for the team, or can an effective application of single hypers make up for it? I’m not really sure who would fit better for DHC purposes, while maintaining what I feel to be a good team-flow.

Well If you made your team order x-23/ironman/shuma you could easily dhc with your team. Also imo shuma is better anchor than ironman but its very easy to switch the order of 2 and 3. note that if you do a combo that has you DHC twice your order goes from 1-2-3 to 3-1-2 and obviously if x-23 is dead a DHC yields 2-3 into 3-2. This can also be very effective for getting ironman off the field if low hp since his beam super is 3 frames and can dhc into hyper mystic smash which is very safe on block.

Ive been playing that team online only for the last three days and I can tell you the synergy is amazing with that team. I was using Shuma (Mystic Ray) on point, Dorm in the middle (Dark Hole) and Strange (EoA) as anchor. I usually rush down with Shuma and play zone with Dorm. Strange can do either of the two. After several matches I decided to switch up the assists. Gave Dorm purification and Strange (BoB). Even though Bolts of Balarrak are slow, They hit twice and if I start it up while using an Aerial Mystic Smash with Shuma to get in / close, the opponent can move. Shuma and Dorm always had great synergy (former team was Doom, Shuma Dorm) but Dr. Strange make it even better. Now that I think about it, if your serious of playing this team. Strange (EoA) should be point, Shuma (MR) in the middle and Dorm (DH) as anchor. I say this because of when I played online, people would zone out shuma when he was on point and Dorms assists cant do anything to help out and Dr. Strange’s DoD and BoB, you have to be tricky to use them.

I then used Dorm on point, shuma then Strange (that was earlier today). Where as Shumas assist help out Dorm, Strange was just sitting in the back till I use EoA as a combo extender or chip. Now at work thinking about it. IF running with this team Strange HAS to be on point. They wanna zone you out? DoD with Shuma’s Mystic Ray. Or howabout Medium/Heavy sword with MR? If the beams are too fast. Counter hyper. They try to get close. Illusion (Back + heavy) with Purification assist. Yeah. I think Strange on point with Shuma in the middle and Dorm on anchor is the best way to go with this team.

How about using Eye of Agamato to set up chaos dimension unblockables? Does that work as nicely as I think it should?

The best assist with mystic smash’s imo so far is RR spitfire. Its super easy to have the first ball hit crossup as second one hits, it is pretty dirty and it gives you plenty of time to combo off of long range hits. RR spitfire assist is the new drones assist and is really good for mystic smashes.

In Vanilla ive been running Spencer/Iron man/Chris. but in Umvc3, Iron man still needs lab time to adapt to the changes, so Im thinking of putting shuma as replacement. Chris can be switched to Gun fire to have something “close” to unibeam. but what assist should I use on Shuma? a 2nd beam assist in Mystic ray? Mystic stare almost seems like it can be a replacement for unibeam, but I forget how the durability is, or how far it goes.

what are yalls thoughts on Shuma with Spencer(Slant assist)

I’m currently using shuma with slant assist and give ya some thoughts. I don’t think the assist is that useful for shuma, it can be useful to stop jumping and such but that good of an assist for him. Mystic ray however is godlike for spencer since it hits hold screen and gives plenty of delay to allow for crossups or command grabs. You can also nicely dhc from arm into shuma safely or for big damage. I might switch to landmind assist with chris personally to try and setup resets and mixups since you will end up choosing ray over gun fire all the time.

I’m a little new to Shuma so I don’t know who goes well with him(besides the obvious Frank Cart Assist), But I’m thinking of doing a Nemmy/Shuma team. Nemmy builds meter pretty easily, and Rocket Launcher Hyper puts me near the corner/in the corner, and Shuma’s Hyper Mystic Ray does a ton of damage in the corner, plus he has great corner pressure.
Whenever Shuma gets a hit, I use a tiny lil BnB into OTG Mystic Ray + Launcher Slam and continue the combo/go for a reset, and Nemmy’s Zoning Game gets a little bit better with Mystic Ray assist. My problem is, who I should put in anchor slot? I’ve been thinking Iron Man, or maybe Doom for a beam assist so Shuma can get in, but I’m terrible with those characters… any suggestions?

Shuma’s mystic ray assist also has several great applications for Nemesis. Due to the fact that it sweeps the whole screen and has very small blockstun it can be used to set up tick command grabs against opponents after certain combos. If it also OTG’s (I can’t remember if it does or not) then nemesis’s combos become dangerous with an otg assist. I feel like their DHC potential is pretty good too.

Nemesis as assist doesn’t offer too much support to Shuma outside of combos,

Another thing you can do with Shuma/Nemesis is hit someone with a mystic stare combo, then hard tag to Nemesis and proceed to go for those command grab setups before the eyes explode.

I’m fairly new to UMvC3 (well as far as playing it a bit more seriously), and trying to get a good team going… right now I’m enjoying my team of X-23/Deadpool/Shuma as they seem to DHC well into each other… but I seem to be having a lot of trouble building meter unless I put Shuma on point… but then, X-23 and Deadpool as assists don’t seem to be helping much.

I was considering switching out X-23 for Morrigan, but I enjoy X-23’s playstyle more (though I enjoy both characters). Keeping in mind that I’m super-scrubby right now (ie., still working on maximizing damage and properly hit-confirming), anyone have any suggestions?

Hoping to improve and not be an embarrassment to the greatness that is Shuma Gorath. :pray:

what types of assists can a shuma player use to make it easier for shuma to do his thing?

Hey been doing some matches in UMVC3 and I’m running Chris(gun fire)/Strange(eye)/Shuma(mystic ray)
Got any advice.

I’m new to UMvC3 and have taken an interest in Shuma-Gorath. I’m running Shuma(Mystic Ray)/Dorm(Dark Hole)/Doom(Hidden Missiles). I’m pretty sure this isn’t a bad team, can I get some advice on just how they should work together?
