Word. I see his offense being very difficult to start on a good opponent. I also see him getting locked the fuck down in the corner without super armor on normals or the right assist.
We’ve seen nothing remarkable about Sent so far that makes him seem even remotely top tier. He can fly, okay. He can combo supers of OTG’s, okay… and? He can combo off fly-mode. Cool. So his air series is a little longer. Unless he’s got that boot lockdown, fly-mode isn’t going to be as useful with how slow it is.
Doesn’t look top-tier at all, yet. “But he has big damage and lotsa health!” Okay, but don’t forget that literally everyone but Ryu looks jacked as shit in this game.
That gave me a “woah!” moment too. I wonder if that’s a general hitbox collision property, or something only Sentinel can do to help with his massive height problem and not possessing super armor anymore.
Anyway, I would like the thread title to be:
“Deux Ex Machina - The Sentinel Thread”
For those who do not know, the above phrase is latin for “god from the machine”, and tends to also refer to the soul in a living creature. That Sentinel is both a very personal character to all of us, and his previous status as a god tier character, adds a wonderful double meaning to the phrase. It’s also a criticism of a plot device where something wacky happens to save the entire story; traditionally, a deity appears. Since Sentinel is the only character with no “real” plot reason to be in this game, it serves a purpose there as well.
Just my two cents.
With all the tools he has I don’t understand why he gets the most life in the game.
No one looks top tier yet. We don’t even know how this game will play outside of glorified combo videos.
I mean that the basic tactics and way Sentinel plays looks like it’s intact. Again, he has been nerfed, but from the videos it looks like he’ll still be a huge threat in MvC3.

The loss of refly and universal super armor is what worries me. Also, how AG will affect him in this game. We’ve already seen fast fly combos from other characters so that is nothing new. I like the HSF into plasma storm in the corner though, and Rocket Punch OTG looks tight.
I’m going to use the hell out of him, and I hope he ends up a very strong character too, but it’s WAY too early to say that he’s going to be top tier again and that his changes were minor…

His flight speed is back to the cota Version 3.00 and walkspeed is at its fastest.
IMHO the only one that looks top tier to me is Storm, but even then I think the tiers will be a lot more balanced than MvC2…not that that’s saying much lol.

after watching the videos…it looks like anyone with a decent teleport or a good projectile will just keep him back…all his specials look like the have long start up and recovery.

Agree 100%, although I still think it’s quite possible that Sentinel will have received less of an overall adjustment than Magneto (only thing he seems to have going for him is his sped up EM Disruptor). He looks to be slow as hell, and his rocket punches look like they do half as much damage as before, but he still looks extremely fun and still pretty strong.
Sent looks real balanced.
he looks sweet. whether or not he’ll be top tier is anyones guess, he was only so good cause of the “not known to capcom at time of making of mvc2” fly/unly refly stuff. his health and decent speed looks to put him at bottom mid right now… lol.
but fuck it, we got sent. thats all that matters. hopefully he is top… he looks like MAD fun to play as.

Obviously he still has some of the basic tactics and sentinel play, but these videos are really not going to represent real play. Let’s be a bit realistic here, it’s way too damn early.
Edit: Sent should have the most health in the game, it’s only logical…
