Nice idea. Maybe that’s why Seth plays Sentinel/Skrull/Thor. I was planning on using the gap cross-ups with Dormammu, or seeing if I can Dark Hole between each one for massive chip.
it depends if his air normals are fast fly cancellable
Right, so for now it’s just conjecture. The video clip doesn’t show flying in any form. And even if it is flight cancellable, hasn’t it already been verified that his flight is much slower this time around? Seems about the only way this would be practical at all is if you’re already right on top of them, and go into flight mode off of a crouching :l: if they block it (if it’s even possible to cancel normals into flight in this game).
The video is great for displaying random possibilities, but I’m just focusing on that particular combo for my argument. Hell, you probably could do a similar combo just off of the crouching :l: into launcher and get the same damage due to scaling.
so what exactly is sentinel’s weakness? I can understand why inexperienced players would think he’s overpwered. He’s got stamina, strength, mobility, isn’t too slow, has super armor on his moves, space control, combos, is able to chain his own supers together without DHC, has useful assists, good hypers…
I get the feeling that he might have some trouble with rushdown characters since a lot of his moves have slight startup, but then he has super armor too…
his flight activation is fast enought o have fast fly combos. we saw that in the reveal trailer.
basically, if sent can catch a jumping character with H, then fast fly and do a magic series into whatever, hell still be a threat
The Youtube/Eventhubs comments on Smexy’s vid… pure comedy.
Sent eats teleports like a motherfucker.
That, and he’s a huge fuckin’ target. You can keep him in blockstun all day, and he’s so easy to combo.
As with any giant character in any fighting game, he’ll have to contend with a lot of Sentinel specific combos, rests, hell, maybe even infinites. Some corner only combos might work on him midscreen. It’s almost a given that rushdown characters will be all over him; he only has super armour on his sweep and launcher if I remember correctly, so that won’t be of much help. I also think characters with tight space control like MODOK and Dormammu will give him a hard time from full screen, he’s just too big to avoid all their shit.
For real though, MODOK with a powered up Aegis on the field, coupled with floating bombs and simultaneously spamming beams + assists will be a pain in the ass for him.
ever seen a sentinel player panic and start throwing out random hypers and roccet punches because he can’t handle good rushdown??? it’s fuccing hilarious man…-_-
How so? Twasn’t as salty as I thought it would be, like 2 or 3 dudes complained sent would be OP but everyone else pretty much put em in their places.
Are you serious? Sentinel can just fly over everything.
Not in this game my friend, everything’s so slow, especially his air speed. But maybe time will prove me wrong.
When did he learn to fly over Purification?
ah right, being a doofus as I am I totally forgot about the fact that there are like 9000 keepaway characters in this game.
I bet Deadpool could get him really salty just by jumping and spamming his guns.
Magneto’s tri-jumps and DISRUPTAH are also going to be ridiculous for him to deal with.

Cool! Sure it took 5 meters but still awesome. I wonder if Sentinel has some nice 100% comboes without KFC…
So I’m thinking about trying a team of the biggest tanks in the game for one of my experiments when the game drops. Since this is one of the busier threads, I’m gonna ask you guys for advice. Here’s my thinking:
Sentinel (Drones)/Thor (Smash)/Hulk (Upper or Wave)
Strategy:
Sentinel - Lead off, get a feel for opponent. Standard Sent strategy. Use Thor’s assist for pressure, Hulk’s for anti-rushdown (upper) or anti-zoning (wave). Land a combo, air exchange or DHC for big damage.
Thor - Bring him in to shift the pace from long-range zoning to mid- and close-range brawling once Sentinel’s got 'em used to blocking. Use drones assist to get in (also thinking about using the gap in block stun to start Thor’s throw game), apply pressure with assists and Mighty Strike/Smash, land a throw or whatever and start resets. DHC as necessary.
Hulk - Bring him in when opponent’s on the defensive and go for big damage. Again, both assists are mostly for pressure. Strategy is pretty much as simple as Hulk is.
Thoughts? With all the popular characters that are on the lower end of the health and damage spectrum, plus the fact that the big characters actually seem to have a chance this time around, I think this might be a fun team.
I’m betting with an assist he will, on the lighter characters at least. Without even needing the corner.
