it took capcom four fuckin games to put him back after cota and only because they were obligated to put him back in mvc2.

Uhh… why were they obligated to put him in MvC2? Other than the fact that they were putting in everyone the had a sprite and moveset for from pevious games.
It should be obvious that he’s in MvC3 because he’s popular in MvC2. It’s also obvious that he’s popular in MvC2 only because he was OP. It’s not like there’s some huge fanbase for the sake of the character itself. Don’t kid yourself.
At any rate though, I wanna see Rocket punch canceled into HSF. It hasn’t been done it any of the vids yet, can he still link it?
This was on the little stream they ran tonight. Niitsuma said that depending on who you are, you might have good memories of Sentinel or you might have bad memories of him. From a fighting game character perspective Sentinel became something interesting in MvC2. That is why he was compelled to take the character type that Sentinel became and see how that style works implemented intentionally into the framework of a new game.
That’s a brilliant design strategy, tbh.

Dude, this is a 3rd installment. Fighting game series do return their most favored characters, it not just because he was a god tier because tiers change in every next installment. In fighting games, popularity comes from gameplay, and sentinel just had the best type of play capcom made for this cross over. He was picked in every team not because he was seriously over powered (because cable kills him, and mags, storm, and a good BH, Cyke, Strider/doom could fight him) but because he brought the best team dynamics which is the main gameplay of mvc2.
