and if they dropped marvel?
daniel, you know if we can hook up dcs to the hotel tvs?
it is funyn but if they said no marvel u ppl will get mad. iyt is dumb that the owner of the arcade dont like CVS2 and wont have a tourney for it . but if it was the other way around u guys would be mad too so whatever
Wouldn’t there be top cvs2 players anyways playing other games? I don’t get it either… :looney: I mean look at the evo from last year, CvS2 was mad hype!
Imagine if ECC decided to run an arcade tournament with 3S, CvS2, ST, and no MvC2, but in its place Senko no Ronde (or however the shit you spell it), Arcana Hearts, and Battle Fantasia.
It’d be awesome to try the new games out, but to exclude a game that is without a doubt going to bring all kinds of people to the venue and to then run tournaments for games 99% of the nation hasn’t even touched yet is a bit much, don’t you think?
I mean if you’re inviting the Japanese then at this point you might as well just give them the money for Arcana, Accent Core, and MB.
;p
What im sure of is that the directors were on some shit when they were planning this tournament. Im all for change and new games but this all sounds mad fishy and its a bunch of bullshit with the half assed excuses im getting here. This just shows you how much the organizers care about the players and im going to give them the same kind of treatment. Whatever the reason (which i dont think there is a valid one) its all just a bunch of dumbshit.
Can someone get Ranma or Lay in here???
Bas really think’s there is going to be CvS2…
Honestly I think that’s the idea. Getting the japanese there = more anime fans will cross over = more random scrubs will enter the Japanese anime-style games. Let’s get serious, we all know the japanese are going to take Guilty Gear, MB and Arcana Heart free, and if they send their 3s team, that too. The only games that will be US-won are MvC2, Tekken, and maybe ST depending on who Japan sends (I doubt old men will be flying to the USA for this).
I do agree with everyone here on CvS2, it makes no sense to me, but I can’t really get a straight answer out of anyone on the Showdown staff. I was told that CvS2 has had a seriously declining turnout over the past few years, but after last years great finals with Nestor/Smooth vs Valle/Cole I really don’t see what the point is…thats top level US play right there. Also, we all know that ST does not even get anywhere near close to as many entries as CvS2 but that’s still in Showdown.
The major gripe I have with Showdown right now is that the rules have changed after they were just announced a few days ago.
thats right: you are stuck with the same character through the ENTIRE tournament as if you entered SBO or something. You cannot switch your characters, PERIOD.
Think about the problems this is going to cause in MvC2…or in a game like ST where you blatantly have to counter-pick to win certain matchups no matter how good you are (O.Sagat for example)…or in 3s, which will now be an ENTIRE tournament of Ken/Yun/Chun instead of a variety of mid-tier characters if switching were allowed.
I said this to Ranma last night: are you aware that Japanese players LIKE THE USA FORMAT OF TOURNAMENTS BETTER THAN THEIR OWN??? They hate the way shit is run in Japan, honestly. They come over here and LOVE double elim, 2 out of 3, change your character, and they hate the limitations in their own country. Why are we going by a format that even a great number of major japanese players dislike??
The answer: Showdown staff is trying to act like a bunch of Japanese fanboys.
I am seriously rethinking this trip now.
I was just about to ask you that .

Marvel lives forever --j/k-- Of course I would I be upset if MvC2 was dropped - but we have no control over what a tourney director decides. I participated in some of the Showdown planning meetings and and different issues were talked about for months. Dropping CvS2 was just something that was decided on. If anybody is a CvS2 ONLY player, then sorry. I really am.

Not sure about the TVs and DCs - never been there so no idea. Glad to hear you are making it though. If we meet in the tourney, make sure you let Isaac go first - so I can beat him down again like at ECC. :arazz:
phil is right . the fanboys for directors need to think about this. and idk if i will go cause i do play marvel and 3S but it isnt my main game and ppl that have that for there main game wont go to the tourney
nah, i’m going first this year and nobody is beating our team, let alone beating me ^^
well, they certainly know how to discourage people from coming
but im sure that small army of arcana players from colorado are hella hype about this tourney
quoted from texas thread
no tourneys in the casuals room? that certainly cements me not going
Wow.
Just wow.
I see so this tourny holds games that only texas people play, guess I have to stay home.
Last years tourny was the 2nd best tourny I have ever been to. Ill see u texas fools at evo.
Good luck to all my peeps attending FanBoy Championships this year, unforutunately I wont be there even though it’s in walking distance from my house. I’ll probably be at Rudy’s house playing marvel or at home studying for finals or something. Everyone has their own complaints with the way showdown is being run this year and everyone has their reasons for coming or not but there’s no reason to contiue bithcing about it especially since showdown is only a few months away knowing that there will be no changes made what so ever. Let me make it simple for everyone, **either your going or your not **so shut the fuck up:confused:
so dont go! thats fine, no one asked you to come across the united states just to lose anyway.
Oh Btw I hope to see you bitches at final round!
i think i made it clear that the people involved are not completely getting away from old games. maybe my english is poor.
