this is not a normal american tournament, it is different it has changed. it doesnt matter the reasons either like it or dont. go or stay home its up to you.
texas is trying to move on, not japanese fan boys, but to keep up with the japs. yes there are many reasons why this may not work, but we have people that want to try. so lets give it a shot. also the venue will be better/bigger than evo has ever had.

A lot of factors went into the structuring of this event. All these factors were based off one solid foundation block: The concept of a tournament that has as much appeal to participate in as it does to watch (by everyone). So this automatically introduced a new factor: the audience.
Most tournaments here are organized without this factor so the standard tourney organization rules apply and the participants are the only factor taken into consideration.
Showdown Championships is different in that sense, and that alone changes almost everything. The opportunity to shine and prevail over your opponent in a competition in front of a mass audience is what Showdown Championships brings to the table.
The Showdown Championships 2007 finals will be held in the Room of Ages at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

I agree its exciting to watch 2 top players go at it at cvs2but its equally as exciting(maybe even more) to watch the 2 top US teams go fight it out, or the top US team go against the Japanese team on that stage, with 3600 people in the audience, live cameras and live commentary.
Each game is picked carefully and many factors are taken into consideration. If a game does not make it to the line-up, its not because we hate it. Its because the other games have priority in more ways than one (no point in going into details).
The negative reactions didnt surprise any of us here, change is usually not welcomed in this community. But we didnt make Showdown Championships different for the sake of being different; we made it different to make it better.

Holding a tournament for Arcana Hearts is stupid. You guys and the Japanese are the only people who will have access to this game, the rest of the entire FREAKING WORLD will have never been near the game before. I have nothing against throwing new games into the mix, but pulling out CvS2 is an obvious mistake. It’s not a decision, it’s a mistake. And 3,600 people are going to be watching this? I’ll be damned if they even know what’s going on when they watch. That’s solving an advanced algebra problem infront of history class.
But whatever, even with all this shit I’d still like to come, even if the number of entrants for MB will probably be less then 20.

personally, i don’t agree with all of the changes either, but we DON’T know how it is going to turn out in the end. let the man do his thing, let him run the event, and we’ll see how it turns out in the end. you can either a. go and find out if it owns or sucks balls, or b. decide not to go and skip the fagfest or potentially miss out on something really awesome.

Hey man, I dunno why this information is relevent, but I’ll answer you. I’m not running the tourney, so I(we/not tourney organizers) had absolutely no say in what was going on. I had no idea there wasn’t gonna be CVS2, nor did I know that Arcena Hearts/Melty Blood/Other games were gonna be there. It’s ignorant for people to say that “TX hates CVS2 or TX fighting scene is gay cuz no cvs2 blah blah” since 99% of TX had nothing to do with these decisions.
