What a coincidence! I recently had Paula use PSI Magnet on groups of three or more of those fuckers, it’s a GREAT way to replenish her PSI points!
So, I never had the privilage of playing Earthbound when I was a kid. I had always heard how amazing the game was, but I never realised how amasing it was until I started playing it a few weeks ago.
I’m totally hooked. Right now, I just obtained the ‘Overcoming Shyness’ manual, and I’m wandering around killing Foppy’s in the Dinsosaur Cave. I love this game; I love it very much.
Anyway, I’m sure alot of you know, but I thought I should mention that the translation is coming along very nicely according to the blog update eleven hours ago:
Show love for Mother.
Although I usually hate playing games like these on Emulator but this is awesome. The translations look grammatically correct which is rare- I guess they’re putting their all into it.:pleased:
Yeah, totally agreed. Just reading his posts gives you the idea that they aren’t fucking around. The whole team has been working on the project since last July, and according to the website, the entire project is 80-85% complete.
Has anyone heard the rumor that apparently Nintendo may port the entire trilogy onto the DS?
I think the reason why this is a rumor because it would be the most logical thing to do. Unfortunately, Nintendo hasn’t shown any evidence of being a logical company nowadays.
That’s a pretty good point. But look at what alot of games being released are now-a-days: remakes, re-releases, compilations; it would fit the market trend to release it now, especially with the whole ‘old schools is the new school’ mentality.
Hell, some of the best selling games for the past several years have been sequels.
By the way, what did you guys name your four characters? My first time, which is now, are Ness, Jenny, Stoch, and Wing.
So I saw a guy in math & cs club, and he had a ness pin on his shirt, advertising earthbound. Just a small excuse to bump this thread.
Good timing on the bump. On the Mother 3 Translation page, they say they’re in the final phases of testing, so they might release the patch sometime in the next 1 or 2 months (I’m hoping)
Fixed.
I need a EZ-Flash 3-in-1 like NOW. Maybe I can get my PSP to stop acting like an ass and use that.
I carry a baseball bat around that has Earthbound carved into it. Yes, it’s a weapon and not a sports utility.
Tomato, of Starmen.net and fan-translation fame, has recently announced that the patch for Mother 3 will be out by the end of this week!

Get ready, people!
YESSSSSSSS.
That’s awesome.
On a related note, some people are saying that if you install the homebrew channel on your wii, you can use VBA on it and play this on your Wii. I might try this.
How do you do that? I have a Wii but I don’t know crap about homebrew stuff for it.
I would advise against modding your Wii, unless you plan to never play it online.
…I don’t think I’ll be playing it online(don’t care for Brawl and I’d rather play Mario Kart DS online), but since it apparently limits that aspect of the Wii I guess I won’t mod it. Crap.
Well, there’s a difference between hardware modding it and installing the homebrew channel, I don’t think they’ve taken any measures against the homebrew channel (other than trying to force an update that gets thwarted within hours, like the PSP). I don’t have the exact details, but google Twilight Princess hack and homebrew channel.
It opens up a lot of options, like region changing and more. If NoA does take action against it, there’s allegedly a homebrew program that will remove the channel and all traces of it. I haven’t done this myself though so I can’t verify all of the info, its just what I’ve read on various forums.
This is fantastic news! I’m going to play this for many an hour come release time.
Glad it FINALLY came out, both me and pretty much every EB fan have waited too long to play this completely in english.
Just started playing through chapter 1…
Heavy ch 1 spoilers!
Spoiler
[SPOILER=No really, don’t read this unless you’ve beaten chapter 1]Hinawa’s death still has to be one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen in a video game. You don’t really even get to see too much of her, but how they executed everything, and hearing what the characters have to say just make it more painful. The Mother 3 Love theme on top of that makes it so much worse.
[/details]
Unfortunately I don’t have too much time to play it :\
I know EXACTLY what you mean. I played the Japanese version and I had NO CLUE what the characters were talking about, but when I saw that scene with the campfire (you know the one), I felt like crying my eyes out.
