The thing is, the series despite obviously being one of the greatest has had bad luck.
Mother 3 would have probably been released in the US, if the N64 and the 64DDS had not flopped in Japan and if the PSP had forced out Nintendo to drop the DS leading to a new portable hardware generation.
But regardless, Earthbound on the VC could lead to a future port of any or all of the Mother series either on the VC or the DS in the future.

I believe they will debut it because of Smash Bros. Brawl, the same way they debuted Fire Emblem after the introduction of Marth and Roy in Melee. I think they will repeat the same thing for Mother but they’re probably thinking of their approach. (Probably because it’s a GBA game.)

Sorry… I should’ve said that that bit was from Mother 3.
I’ve seen vids of Mother 3, and in the last chapters, if that monster ever touches you on the field… you die. No battle screen, game over. SORTA the opposite of you insta-killing the enemies in Earthbound if you were too high level.

I’m going through the game, YET AGAIN!
Yesterday, I finished up Fourside. That Clumsy Robot in the Monotoli Building used to be a pain in the ass for me to fight, but I learned that you can hit him with PSI Paralysis. The funny thing is that after pummeling the robot, the Runaway Five will still barge into the room to turn him off, even though he’s been rendered helpless! 
Now, I’ve gotta teleport back there and buy some equipment for Paula, now that she’s back in the party. This is also the point in the game where the player begins to REALLY hate Pokey! First, he’s sitting in the lap of luxury, talking MAD shit to Ness and co., then he jacks the Helicopter that you needed to get to Scaraba!
Pokey is definitely one well-created villain, not just because you love to hate his guts, but when you think about it, he’s also a pretty complex character.
-He comes from a poverty-stricken household, because Ness’s father apparently borrowed $100,000 from his father, Aloysius (though, it could have been a lot less).
-His parents are negligent (going out to eat at a fancy restaurant, while the kids remain at home) and apparently abusive. Back when I first played the game in '97, I knew that Pokey and Picky got spanked. However, I didn’t know that NoA removed the “SMACK” sound effects featured in the JP version.
-It is also VERY clear that Pokey is obviously jealous of Ness, because of his powers and the fact that he comes from such a loving family (Tracy, his little sister, got a job in order to support Ness AND the family; Ness’s mother is a stay-at-home mom, who cooks his favorite meals whenever he wants; and his father is a workaholic, yet he always looks out for him, despite the fact that they mainly talk to each other via telephone).
-Finally, what I find interesting is how Pokey never completely fell under Giygas’s control. I believe that Giygas simply gave Pokey a “push in the right direction” so he could just show Ness up on his journey. It wasn’t until he came into direct contact with Giygas himself that he started acting like one of his lackeys, ranting and raving in support of Giygas’s quest to destroy the world. Once Giygas was defeated, Pokey stopped acting like a fanboy of the apocalypse, but he was still Ness’s enemy.
The sad thing about Pokey disliking Ness is that when you get to Magicant, you’ll learn that Ness WANTS to be Pokey’s friend!
^Yea, when you think about it it’s easy to feel sad for Pokey, then when I think about all the bullshit he does in the earthbound series, any pity I have for him disappears.
I didnt even think about that for Poke. I was young at the time so I never analyzed it. Its too bad they didnt make a sequel with Ness. I think if they did, more people would have bought it, it’d be more hype, and overally more ppl would have known about a “Mother 3/ Earthbound 2” over here.

I’m playing through yet again. I don’t know why I never took advantage of the foppys before in Belch’s layer. I went from level 26 to 40 in like 30 minutes. Now I’m at the monkey caves and have just stopped b/c I don’t want to wander through them for 20 minutes.:yawn:

Pokey never WAS really under Giygas’ control.
Everything he did, he did because he wanted to do–for himself.
In Mother 3, he even does far worse things than Giygas ever had the chance to do in Mother 2.
Y’know, I just had an epiphany about Pokey…about why exactly he is with Giygas in the final boss battle of Mother 2…

Well, if it’s true…Giygas was not pure evil when you fought it, then what was Pokey’s purpose for lying about it? Why was he there in the first place??
Perhaps, the answer is…he WANTED you to destroy Giygas. He basically provokes Ness and Co. to attack Giygas when it’s at its most helpless because they have the best shot of taking it down.
Why? To take over himself. Which is exactly what he did in Mother 3. Giygas is not mentioned ONCE in the game, and Pokey is in total control.
Pokey only pretended to side with Giygas only to usurp its position himself.
Pokey is the true “ultimate idiot” of evil in the series, not Giygas.
