Earthbound was broken.
The rock candy + condiment glitch abused the hell out of the game.

I think Nintendo is stupid for NOT releasing Mother 3… like comon we liked Earthbound…

so yeah, Earthbound got rated, and it’ll probably come to the VC. I’m still skeptical about Mother 3 though.

One of my favorite bits in Earthbound was that you could get so powerful that just simply walking into enemies would instantly defeat them and give you EXP. without even entering battle.
My favorite: coming out of Magicant, with a super-powered Ness, and grinding for EXP by running into all the enemies in the volcano area, and getting lots of level ups there, without even getting into battle. 
(On the opposite end, there’s the Ultimate Chimera that’ll pretty much game over you if it touches you… Games need more of that.)
Is it weird to love the characters of Mother 3 without having even played the game?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Ultimate Chimera in any playthrough of Earthbound. Where is it?

I don’t know, Earthbound is one of two of the classic SNES RPG’s that I just didn’t really like. I rented the game, played it long enough to get every party member(at least I think I got four). Then I returned it and rented FFIII, and re-rented that until I finished it(took awhile, as I would play outside during the daylight as it was summer).
I was actually surprised to see that the game is so popular on message boards. I just couldn’t really get into either EarthBound or Super Mario RPG.
Yeah I said that in a prior post. I used to love seeing bears, UFOs, and giant T-Rexes run the hell away from you en masse from a little kid in a baseball cap.
Now that I think of it, this was the one RPG I never beat when I was younger. hmmm I might have to go through this when finals are over

they dont give a shit about Earthbound, fans have been wanting Mother 3 for ages and…well. Nintendo doesnt really care what you want or when, for instance, youre only going to get Mario Galaxy to play for the next 5 years until their next console comes out. Earthbound will have to be the best selling VC game ever if there is any hope of Mother 3…fuck it, it wont happen.
I hope to God Nintendo of America is serious about this…

Whats wrong with them putting it out when they want? I mean I wish Berserk had a second season in the making, but thats up to the creators not the fans.

“when they want”? they haven’t when they had the chance to, they will never want to. and think about it: you can tell the GBA is starting to get phased out now, so it’s even unlikelier they’ll put out Mother 3.
admittedly, Earthbound was considered a failure in the US as it didn’t earn as many sales as expected despite very heavy marketing (we also never got to see the first one - Mother - in the US). despite that, EB fans are some of the most solid fans (Miyamoto himself said this) and the loudest ones at that. ever since EB64, the fans have been screaming for it to be brought to the US. 9 years later, Nintendo has simply ignored all of it. the fans clearly show there are potential customers, and Nintendo refuses to acknowledge that.
so yeah, you can say “well its their decision!1” and it is their decision, and all EB fans hope is to encourage them to make the right decision.
its just that its kind of a big slap to the face for all the loyal fans who’ve anxiously awaited for almost a decade now to hear people go “well its up to them and not to you”.
