Should the next SF have stun bars?

screw that…the screen should be all black like when Raging Demon hits, and you have to guess where you are, and instead of sound effects, japanese kanji should just pop up on the screen whenever I hit somebody.

it should all be invisible, like that challenge where you are invisible…and I think your health bar is concealed too?

mates, please discuss stun bars, not guard break bars.

guard break bars are totally different things… and it doesnt fit in ST4 IMHO.

think about this: does your gameplay change when you notice your health bar (or your opponet one) is close to get depleted or not??

does it make the game more tactic??

should this apply to stun bars?

They should put up so many bars that you only have 200x300 view of the fight at full size…

Stun bars helps a lot if you do not know the stun each move gives by heart. Easy yes

This.

Seriously, that would be such a cool and helpful thing if added into this game.

Fuck mystery. It’s not mysterious to Daigo & JWong, they know that shit like the back of their hand, obfuscating this from intermediate players is just another unecessary barrier keeping us from playing the “real game”. It also makes for more exiting fights to watch. Some guy gets dizzy? pff, whatever. Some guy is almost dizzy and has to fight his arse off to not get dizzied? Awesome.

Except that’s a) a bad idea and b) an actual system change as opposed to just having information that already exists on the screen.

You mean to tell me all you guys have no clue when you’re opponent is about to be dizzy? Its not rocket science.

Like I said I don’t really mind if they added a meter for it, makes decision making even easier for me using sakura. But seriously, how much hand holding do people need?

My only issue with the Sirlin school of thought is when it goes from things like execution barriers(which to a point I can agree with) to learning the games various ins and outs. When it comes to stun bars, you don’t have to practice for months til you commit a combo to muscle memory to reliably pull it out in a match. You just have to know your characters moves stun numbers, and your enemies stun level. Of course things like scaling will factor in, but once you know the basics those will come. You could read up on it, commit them to memory (beyond your own characters atacks stun numbers, which should be important as it’s YOUR character, you only need a single number for each character, or even just a stun tier ballpark) and the rest comes in your mind when you play.

How dare Capcom expect us to think during a strategic game.

Seems weird that foe’s only get stunned at 10% life remaining, but I’d prefer it be an invisible meter that flashes randomly.

yeah.

No. Although i do get pissed when i waste meter because i went into “auto combo” mode and my opponent dizzies halfway through it. Whiffed FADC’s and Super cancels = :annoy:

Instead as someone mentioned if the life bar starts flashing signifying the end of the stun meter that would be better.

Yes to stun meters. I see even good players waste meter on stunned opponents.

Okay let’s say you get stun meter. Now let’s say you do a specific link combo that’s gonna lead to and fadc/super/ex/whatever. Of course without stun meter, in this situation, you might waste the meter due to a dizzy. Understandable. But now you got a visible meter. They are close to being stunned, and you decide not to continue the combo cuz you think they will be dizzied and you don’t want to waste meter if it misses. All of a sudden, you miscalculated and they were at like 98% stun.

With a visible meter, in this scenario, you are just reversing the problem into another problem. Either way you look at it, meter or no meter, you still gotta learn your dizzy options. Its moot point. Rather they waste their time implementing stuff more worthwhile imo

I agree with this it will have problems anyway you look at it. Someone will disagree

The stun goes down very quickly in SFIV, I’m pretty sure that’s why the developers didn’t put one in. The bar could be nearly filled up for one moment but a few seconds of running away and it will be empty, useless addition.

they should throw in the stun bar and the guard break bar

i dont see why not, seemed to work well in 3s i was kinda surprised they dident include it tbh.
